This book started really interesting but then fell back in to the generic spy tropes.
Corrupt government group needs to take out our own agents.
Retired agent gets pulled back in.
Retired agent while being hunted by government kill teams, freely takes private jets everywhere, has access to money, his old contacts, weapons but the hunters have no clue.
The hero tracks down bad guy via Instagram. Yes Instagram..
Lots of new characters who only provide a plot point then the disappear or die.
Over the top action that goes on way too longer than necessary.
This has nothing to do with Bourne series except they say Treadstone a few times, flash backs of extensive training and taking pills.
I was really interested in the story line of this book but the execution was painful. This book is SO SO slow. I listened to the 12.5 hr audio book. I bet 2 hours could have been cut to tighten it up. I finished it because I did want to find out the ending but I almost stopped several times. Cannot recommend.
Well it turns out the summary was better written than the book. Predictable, all characters somehow know each other, the whole good vs evil vibe is quirky. I am done with this series.
On a side note. What's with the authors pen names? “L.C. Shaw is the pen name of internationally bestselling author Lynne Constantine who also writes psychological thrillers with her sister as Liv Constantine.” However, the “Liv Constantine” is another pen name. “Liv Constantine is the pen name of bestselling authors Lynne Constantine and Valerie Constantine.” #QUITSERIES
I got an early release for an honest review. I still love this series and I am glad the whole gang is back together. The story moves along. The author once again takes you to mythological characters and places you may not be familiar with. This is an aspect that I love of this series. It always expands my knowledge of other religious beliefs in a fun and interesting way. This book definitely went a different direction than I thought it would. That is a good thing.
