8/10
Fun, short book. Had a smile planted on my face most of the way through from the obscene comparisons to the USSR. Would recommend.

9/10
Loved it! Would have liked some more umph from last couple chapters to hype me up for the next book.

4/10

Not really able to get invested at all. Characters, story and the world itself all just leaves me thinking “Meh...”. Giving up on this series.

5.5/10 - Audiobook

Meh. Too short to get me invested. Characters were ok, but nothing special. Hope the pacing is fixed somehow in the coming books. At least it was an easy listen. Very good narrator though.

3.5/10 - audiobook

Listened to this as an audiobook, and it did not work for me at all. I will have to come back and try out the written version. It's like my brain simply can't handle Tolkiens prose in the audiobook format. The same thing happened with The Silmarillion...

9.5/10 - Audiobook

Fun, mostly lighthearted. Awesome references, great narration by Wil Wheaton. There's not much more to ask for, really. Only subtracting a half point since some of the solutions the character finds are a bit too convenient. It's definitely worth a re-listen l!

9/10

It is absolutely astonishing for a writer debut. Deep world, interesting magic system, compelling characters, and plot twists every other chapter.

I am only deducting a single point here for the less eloquent prose, but I am diving directly into the second book!

8.5/10

I have never read anything in this viking/northern mythology style before. A cool mix between vikings, magic and mythology.

The storylines feel very similar, but this might be a fallacy of the audiobook narrator. The ending was absolutely awesome!

7/10

Pretty good for a short story. Quick introduction to the world and leaves doors open for later expansion. I would have liked a bit more clarification before the end though.

8/10

First half was ok, but the second half was a 10/10 for me. Understanding the magic system and wrapping up the story while seeing serious development in every character was awesome.

Prose was a bit clunky, but I was captivated from start to end. Fun little novella.

3.5/10

I read this from Arcanum Unbounded without and intention to play the board game (yet). This made it feel uninspired and repetitive.

From reading the postscript I can agree that this might be a perfect introduction to the setting, magic system and to Kelsier

10/10

The Mistborn book I didn't know I needed. Fast-paced storytelling which covers up a myriad of plot holes I hadn't even realized were a problem in the original trilogy.

I can't wait for the Cosmere works to come together and to explore the effects of all 16 Shards.

9/10
Sanderson is the master of fun magic systems and creative actions scenes. So when he creates a book which is 20% banter and 80% action it can't really go wrong.

The entire Mistborn series continues to be an absolute must-read!
