*Billy and Blaze* (1936) was written and illustrated by Clarence William Anderson. *Billy and Blaze* is the first in an eleven book series. All the books are about a little boy, Billy, and his pony, Blaze, whom he receives as a birthday gift in the first book. Billy and Blaze enjoy a new adventure in each book while learning a lesson. Anderson always explains the proper care of a horse (pony) with accurate but interesting detail.

Billy and Blaze, and Blaze and the Forest Fire are two of our literature choices for Memoria Press First Grade included in the More StoryTime Treasures literature guide. My daughter loves these books. She doesn't have a horse craze like some, but these books she enjoys. I'm not sure if it is the story, the cover (ours is a color cover), or the pen and ink illustrations. All in all she's begged for more in the series to own.
This is a good boy and he tells a good example of character. With a live of nature and animals.
