3.5 stars. Charles definitely stole the show as a secondary character in [b:His Haven 56917503 His Haven (His #3) Con Riley https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1615031796l/56917503.SY75.jpg 88985908] so it was a given that he would soon be starring in his own M/M romance. Our favorite cheerful man-whore turns out to have deep-seated self-esteem issues stemming from his dyslexia. He falls hard, although he doesn't realize it, for gentle, wounded Hugo, whose sexual experience is limited because he was on the path to priesthood until he realized he couldn't live with the Church's beliefs about his sexuality. “Oh no, I'm catching feelings” is always a fun trope, and Charles and Hugo are pretty adorable together, despite a last-minute failure to communicate that seems at odds with their honest interactions up to that point. If you like kids in your romance novels you will enjoy Charles' relationship with the preschoolers for whom he serves as a classroom aide, with special attention to a little boy whose military father is missing in action. I wish there had been a little more plot to go with the romance, but YMMV if you just want a warm, sexy love story. Con Riley is hit or miss for me, but this one was definitely right on the money.
