It's a twisty mystery set in 1922 when a man is suddenly found dead in a locked room. Up until the 90% mark I was prepared to give it 4 stars. However, then we had a twist thrown in for pure shock value that didn't make sense to any of the known facts of the story and which contradicted several other previous things. As a final measure, the author threw in a free hit against the death penalty and a push for the “innate good of man” and thought somehow he'd given the book a decent conclusion.
