All My Thoughts:
Clementine and Justin are the power couple we (and they) didn't know we needed.
When I say it's a slow burn, I mean D.N. Bryn made us WORK for it. The romantic, sexual, and emotional tension between Clem and Justin was delicious and they make you want to root for them and their HEA. The way they (Bryn) approach Vampirism as a disability rather than a “cure” as other vampiric worlds have shown it is so interesting.
The thing that hit the hardest for me was the chronic back pain that Justin lives with. As someone who has chronic back pain and all the issues that stem from it, it was amazing and so so validating to see that represented in a main character. They did such a good job of showing how that pain can affect not only our day to day lives but our relationships with ourselves, our friends, and our significant others.
When I was gushing to @dn_bryn about how magical it felt to see my own experiences represented like that they said, “My own back pain isn't quite as bad as Justin's but I took a lot of inspiration from that and really wanted to capture the way life becomes a trade off between deciding to take on things you know will hurt you and then fighting to recover enough to do it again.” And I think they did an amazing job of showing that.
