Oooh, yes this is FANTASTIC! It reminds me of classic type of horror, with maybe an over arching theme of horror such as Frankenstein (but whos the real monster) or the air of mystery that Dracula can have but found in a modern book. Additionally, has a haunted house/un-reliable narrator that you find with Shirley Jackson. It's really fantastic!
It takes a while to build, but it is well worth it with sinister scares.
Similarly how Frankenstein has more to say then just the monster, this has more to say about the monster that has been around for such a long time, white supremacy. The monster in this book becomes so real - maybe its the additional gaslighting of our character, the hatred of women, the rebellion, the interaction, white eugenics/racism - you get the feeling of a worst nightmare from our protag. everyday and how something sinister only wants to use and kill her. It's subtly builds that horror that women experience so often.
