Held captive for days, she's finally rescued by her captor's teenage son, Will, who's been subjected to his father's mental and physical abuse for years. In the aftermath, Katie was sent into seclusion with her family, and Will was shipped off to one foster home after another, completely disappearing from her life. Fast forward to present day and Katherine is ready to tell her story on primetime news. She believed talking about it would help purge all the self hatred and devastation once and for all. I liked the idea of a kidnapping victim reuniting with her rescuer years later but I was a little put off by Will/Ethan's actions in the beginning. He even admits himself that his behavior is that of an obsessed stalker. I also didn't find it believable that Katie didn't recognize him, especially after seeing his tattoo.
I also didn't like the arrangement of the chapters in this book. It goes back and forth between Katie's past and present and also Will/Ethan's past and present. The past chapters are not in order so it was a bit hard to follow at times. Other than that, it was a good read and I'll probably read the second book when it's released to see what happens with Katie and Ethan's story.
