An entertaining suspense novel that definitely kept me guessing. I don't think I recall reading a vet/police chief suspense before and enjoyed the details of Grace's vet practice. Of course that ties into the story; but is it because of her sister's looming divorce of the lead vet, or from the illegal horse racing going on, which causes Grace's life to be in danger and has already landed her sister in the hospital?
Evan was a pleasant hero and was super protective without being controlling, which many authors seem to find challenging to portray. His son Camden, as well as Grace's dog-nephew Berkeley, steak the side character show nicely.
