Before you read this I recommend you pick up DC Universe: Rebirth, The Deluxe Edition to give you a bit of background of what happened because they do specifically mention the remembering of Wally West in the beginning of this book. (I'm a little confused that there are 2 Wally West's but I'm sure that's something I missed because I didn't pick up many new 52 volumes of any heroes.)
I read the new 52 Flash Vol. 1 and wasn't impressed that the story telling was mostly told through exposition and Barry as a character was lacking...but the art was fantastic! This rebirth Flash vol. 1 has a pretty great story with all the characters you expect and then some, and the art is good. Barry is a great character in this and I really hope they keep that up. Especially with him training some other speedsters and who want to use their powers or just want to continue to lead normal lives without the powers getting in the way. Barry is an excellent hero, a scientist, an officer, and in this he really shines as a teacher. Very nice reveal with Godspeed, honestly it kinda like if Flash was evil. The powers, similar background, just a different view of justice. The writing really brings up flash's frustrations and this villain capitalizes on them...even the ability of being two places at once which seems to be a thing Flash craves the most.
I hope we see Batman and Flash together again sometime soon. There seems to be a theme of giving powers to normal citizens in this Flash it was used to cause some chaos and distress. I'm wondering if the Black Hole bought this tech to connect with the speed force or if they are just a side project the main villain is working on? Also a big hint to Watchmen is this just a nod to different universes or a hint to what is to come? ~Ashley
