Dimitri is a Jinn who is working for the current Master a multimillionaire Karl Walker. Dimitri has to do whatever Karl wants him to or the hum in his head gets more painful. He has accepted his lot in life until he meets Syd in a bar. Then Karl has Dimitri going on back to back jobs getting more and more dangerous. Dimitri wants to find a way to keep Syd and still survive his dangerous lifestyle.
The first half of the book was mostly sex and graphic violence. It really started to get old and I was about to give up on it. then the plot came in and I couldn't put it down. The ending was really great. Now I am looking forward to the next book which I also have to review.
Ooh this was one of the best Stephanie Plum books. I kept laughing so much during this one. I won't give away the main storyline but lots of Ranger time is always good. Plus Stephanie's family keeps trying to set her up with a guy she knew a long time ago. Lula is always funny. She definitely is a hoot and a half.
This book is definitely a must have for reference. I went through it front to back and find myself constantly going back and looking stuff up. I am a new knitter so it is very helpful to know what a SSK is or M1L very easily and quickly.
Everything is listed A-Z and has great pictures and charts to help you figure out everything. I think It would be a great book even for an advanced knitter. Who doesn't forget how to do something even though we do it all the time. The explanations are very well worded.
I jumped into this series at number 13 but plan on going back and reading the series from the beginning. You can easily read these as stand along books as all the characters are explained as you go along and there is a handy cast list in the beginning in case you get lost.
It is the story of a shy girl coming back to her hometown after the death of her mother. She sort of falls in with the knitting group of the town by accident. There is the murder of one of the characters and unfortunately Rose becomes one of the suspects. So the group: Izzy, Nell, Cass and Birdie are out to figure the mystery out and who really did it.
I really enjoyed the interaction of the knitting group. As a bonus there is pattern in the back of the book to knit. Although I would have liked a little schematic of what it would look like.
This book is a great resource for learning how to best use your yarns to make your own fade or gradient knitted item. It talks about using the color wheel to its best advantage in a gradient or fade. It talks it about the difference of gradient and fade as well. The patterns are really nice that are included in the book. I think most of the techniques can translate to crocheting a fade or gradient. The wording is easy to understand and has full color diagrams and photos.
Nice straight forward recipes. Easy to follow and fairly easy to make. The index is a different type that I have in most of my books so I found it easier to just page through to find it. Since it is a digital file I could just search for what I was looking for.
This is not a totally new book either. It was originally published in 2007. But I still enjoyed looking through it for ideas to make my next dinner.
Desdemona Johnson or Dusty is trying to find a bomb when she encounters Reese who is also doing the same. It turns out Reese is the new person in charge and a prince as well. They fight their attraction for each other. Reese is from an alternate earth that brought a whole island with them. Together they are working to build a spaceship to explore the universe. There are some that are trying to stop them and Dusty and Reese try to figure it all out before one of them gets killed.
Even though I had not read the prior books in this series I had no problem keeping up with the action and characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the world.
I was given the book free from the publisher for an honest review.
Buffy and the scoobies have a new mystery to solve. Xander gets a new job at the drive in that has been renovated. Buffy keeps having weird characters show up to harass her only to have them disappear once she hurts them. Buffy thinks the drive in is connected but cannot figure out how. People are going into deep sleep comas for no good reason. This was a pretty good story. A bit different and enjoyable.
There are hackers arrested for cyber crimes but are given a choice jail or hack for the government. They need to work together to figure out what is really going on and wind up having to save the world but how are they going to do it when the computers have taken over everything. If you enjoyed the tv series Person of Interest this will really be a great read for you. It moves fast and furious. You don't know who will make to the end of the book.
The doctor and Martha arrive on a dead ship that is barely working. But what killed the inhabitants and why is there a whole other world connected to it. They go into this other world which it seems the kids are disappearing. This one was part sci-fi and part fantasy. The ending is interesting. You can read these books out of order and it is fine.
Thomas Khatt is just minding his own business when his neighbor who dies in his arms turns him into a mountain lion. Now Thomas has to figure out this new world involving animals who can talk and become familiars to witches and wizards. There are quite a few funny characters in this book like a pyromaniac squirrel. Everybody seems to want Thomas for their own reasons and he has to try to figure out who is being honest with him and who is just trying to use him.
It was a fairly quick read and the world was pretty well fleshed out. I hope to read more of the series. This was a good first book for a series. I can see where they might want to go with the storylines.
Charley is trying to figure out her relationship to the sexy Reyes who is living next door and is the son of Satan. Charley is a grim reaper helping souls cross to the other side while working as a private eye. Blond female ghosts keep popping up in her apartment and she knows somehow this is a serial killer issue. She maintains her flippant attitude all during the book which sometimes gets a little annoying. I know its a defense mechanism but sometimes it is a bit much. But I still enjoyed the story very much.
The story is about a 40ish writer who loses his wife and goes to their summer house to stay for a while. He meets a young woman and her child and gets involved in her fight to keep her child from her husband's father who is very rich. Along the way he deals with some ghosts but he is not sure who they are. Is it his wife, Sara or some other entity? I had a hard time stopping listening to this. It is read by Stephen King and he does a great job with it. Some authors cannot read their own work and do it justice but he can.
I jumped into this series at Book 5. Enough of background information was given for me to get a clear idea of who everybody was and their relationships so I was not lost.
Lee is working at a school for TV production teaching students. This takes place in October in Salem Massachusetts so they decide to do a Day of the Dead celebration for the town. During this Lee is getting visions of a dead girl a bathtub which turns out to be the sister of one her students. Together with her cop boyfriend and the sister they set out to find out who killed her and why people keep dying around Lee.
The story moved at a nice pace so I was never bored. I really enjoyed the talk about the landmarks in Salem. I was actually able to look them up on a map. I will go back and read the rest of the series.
Verity Long is selling her house to pay for her wedding even though she didn't get married. She accidentally traps a spirit named Frankie on her property. She gets involved a job for her ex-fiancé's brother Ellis whose property is being haunted.
For the most part this was enjoyable. The interactions between Frankie and Verity are funny. I will continue to read this series.
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.
The book takes place in a small town in Connecticut. Josie Blair has moved there from New York when her Aunt passed away and stayed to run Miss Marple Knits a yarn store and take care of her elderly Uncle Eb. She has made a few knitting friends Evelyn, Helen and a few others. A new antique store is opening next door but there is a murder and Josie starts investigating and of course stirs up some trouble for herself.
I really enjoyed the interaction of the characters. They are fairly well fleshed and even though I had not read the first book I was able to figure out the dynamics of the characters easily. I want to go back and read the 1st book.
I received this book from the publisher free for an honest opinion.
I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more about these characters.
Austin Cole has a TV show called Spirit Chasers where he proves the existence of ghosts and spirits. Unfortunately he is also attracting very bad spirits and the hurt one of his people. This leads the way for Casey to replace the physic in the show. She doesn't like how Austin tries to control everything and there always seem to be fireworks between them.
The book really doesn't slow down much and is a bit creepy at times. I didn't want to put the book down. The world is very fleshed out and believable. Austin can be a bit annoying sometimes but I love Casey and the rest of the gang.
This book has wonderful photographs. All of the garments are in very neutral colors to show the details better. Most of the patterns are fairly advanced but there are a few garments that an intermediate knitter can do. Most of the cable patterns have charts instead of written out. There are some really interesting sweaters and a few ponchos in this book. There are many well know designers in this book like Norah Gaughan, Kate Gagnon Osborn, Bristol Ivy. There are about 21 patterns of sweaters, cowls, ponchos etc.
Marley McKinney is the owner of the Flipside Pancake house in Wildwood a small seaside community.
The town is being used as a filming site for a remake of a horror movie. Marley gets invited to see some of the special effects makeup being done by Christine, but when she gets there Christine is found murdered and the main suspect is Alyssa, Marley's boyfriend's ex-girlfriend. Of course Marley has a history of solving mysteries and goes ahead and does some sleuthing, which of course puts her in the killer's eyesight.
It was a nice cozy mystery that moved along very nicely giving enough details on past relationships and places to keep you in the know. Which I appreciated since I had not read the prior two books.
The book was provided to me free from the Publisher for an honest review.
Rose, Jack and the doctor encounter a problem where a Neanderthal man winds up in current day World. They go back in time to the Neanderthal time and find out how it happened. They run into Chantal who is from the future and her people who used a time travel device to go into the past.
This has a lot funny lines and situations. I loved it.
I read it then had to listen to it on audio. It is read by Anthony Stewart Head who does such a great job with all the different voices.
This book takes place in 2055 . Half of the world in living in an alternate relatity called Dormance. They do not know there bodies are asleep and that nothing in their world is real.
Emery Parker is transferred to a boarding school in Arizona and finds out that she is a Dormant. She meets Torin who is young genius working for the company that wants to keep the Dormant state active and to make even more people Dormant. Together they try to stop this. Emery needs to play two roles one for each side.
Some of the relationships are a bit weird like her roommate who for some reason thinks they are best of friends after just a few minutes of meeting. Her boyfriend who seems to want to control her but also keep his distance from her.
I did enjoy the book but it took me a while to get into the rhythm of the book. Once I did I could not put it down. I am looking forward to reading the next book.
