This book was so full of tropes it should have been frustrating, but instead it was just a fun read. The overall plot may not be overly original, but the dialogue and character idiosyncrasies we highly entertaining. The subtle humor, witch included jokes about Star Wars were also great when I cought them. Quick entertaining read. I may have to check out more by the author.
Many of these ideas were how I was raised 30+ years ago. I plan on continuing many of them with my lil one. Other ideas were of little interest to me and our lifestyle.
What kept this from getting a higher rating was that many of the anecdotes did not seem to finish, she just moved on. I kept checking to see if I missed something, but they just didn't have a conclusion.
The world building was very interesting. The side characters were also a huge draw for me. The main characters were interesting at times, boring at times, and sometimes just widely unpredictable (not in a good way). This was an easy read that I enjoyed, but I am not rushing out to buy the next one in the series.
I enjoyed the world building and magic (medicine) in this book. The rules of the alternate West run by the Old Man (aka the Devil) were interesting and I may come back to the series later to find out more.
The pacing of the book was very slow and unsteady. The moments of action came on extremely fast after long drolls, I often had to look back a couple of pages to see if I missed something in the sudden change.
This was not bad, but I found the JA like characters just as annoying (if not more so) than in JA books. I just found nothing I wanted to identify with in any of the characters. The way the author mimicked JA also meant I was able to figure out who ended up with who and why.
The magic was interesting, but not enough to save the book for me.
Like the first book in the series I flew through this book. The K.J. Charles did an excellent job of balancing the characters in this book and allowing them room to more fully develop. The crime they were trying to solve in this book came to a much more satisfactory conclusion than the first one, in my opinion. Look forward to reading more by K.J. Charles.
This was the first m/m romance novel I have read and I have to say I enjoyed it. I finished this in one evening. The writing style was very fluid and compelling. The characters were also well done, there was enough there to explain their behavior but still leave room for mystery and growth. The development of the characters apart and together was the most compelling part of the story. The final resolution of the mystery that brought them together felt a little lack-luster to me. Fortunately by that point in the story I was much more interested in how they dealt with things rather than what they were dealing with.
I really enjoyed this book. The mysteries of what was going on was well thought out with very subtle clues revealed over the course of time. The mysteries were not too simple nor did it seem like a stretch when the characters finally solved them. I liked the characters and have to say my favorite POV was from Grim. I have already ordered the next book in the series.
The Last Unicorn was on of my favorite books as a child. I bought this book at a convention from Peter S. Beagle (very nice man), but didn't read it. I think I was afraid it would interfere or tarnish the memories I have of the story. I finally decided to just to do and...
I loved the book. It turns out the movie stuck to the book pretty closely. Many of the lines that I had loved in the movie were there in the book. Like all adapted books there was more in the book than the movie, but it filled in and flushed out the story I loved without changing it.
This book took a different turn as the main character was sent to a new continent. It introduced interesting new characters and filled in much more of the story behind the old characters.
One of the new POV character, the witch, was not someone I immediately liked, cared about, or wanted to read about, but by the end I was invested in her story as well.
This was a very enjoyable book. It was a very fluid and smooth read that made me want to just read one more chapter (then one more, etc).
The heroine was a refreshing balance of strength and femininity. The love interests were both very well balanced and intriguing.
I have already started on the 2nd book.

I am a huge a Iron Druid can and I really enjoyed this latest tale of Atticus & Oberon. 5 Stars on story 1.
I am familiar with the world of Mr. Stain and found this story a light a fun prequel to the series. 4 Stars on story 2.
I had no prior world knowledge of the third story. This left me unattached to the characters and not caring enough t I finish the story. Didn't finish reading (Lemmed) story 3.
This rates a 3.5 for me.
I like that fact that the romance was built on the emotional rather than the physical (so I can actually picture it lasting more than 10 days). I also really enjoyed how they avoided the purity and sex issues.
What made me rank this 3.5 instead of 4 was it felt to much like a build up. The plot felt as though the entire book was just setting the scene for a larger series. As a book by itself it was very unsatisfying.
I will probably read the next Wraith King book in the series.
This book was not really for me. It felt like a Hallmark movie for most of the book I read. I eventually just gave up on it. I couldn't relate to any of the characters and didn't really care what happened to them. This was a book club book and I was starting to avoid reading, so I decided it was time to put it down in favor of something different.
I gave it two stars because it felt well written and I am sure there are many people who will relate better with the characters and enjoy the book. I just wasn't for me.
