Started off strong but I eventually lost interest. The writing was good and the characters strong. I liked the story, but I think my mood shifted for something a little less action packed and more cozy. I'll reread this next year. Aisling and Brecc were good characters however. I'm definitely going to add this author to my list of likes. 4 ⭐
Actually more like 4.5, it was a little slow in the middle, but overall, I really loved this. Kianthe and Reyna are a believable couple and the villains are a bit over the top but I liked them too. The bookstore was cool, I wish it was real, and all the magic made it more interesting. Especially the dragons and unicorns. I'm definitely excited for the next book in the series!
This was unexpected! I was unsure about this “virus sweeps across the land killing everyone” plot; been there, done that amiright?
But I was delightfully surprised by this. Granted some of the choices are a bit... questionable. And a little of it is outdated, but considering this came out in 1945 it's understandable and forgiven.
Ish and Em were believable characters, the plot while slow to start was rewarding at the end and overall, I quite look forward to the film being made for it next year.
4.5 ⭐ rounded up!
It started off strong, but I'm just not in a sci-fi mood right now. The pacing was a bit odd, but the writing was good and I did like the characters. I've had this on my Netgalley for ages, and I finally got to pick it up. While the cover is good, and the storyline decent, this just wasn't the one for me. 3.5 ⭐
This had a lot of potential, but just didn't have the right execution. I wanted to like it, it has dragons a powerful girl wizard, and kids being badasses, but I feel I'd have liked this loads better as a teenager or preteen. I don't think I was the right target audience for this one, but it was a fun read. 2.5 ⭐ rounded up.
