The art in this book is charming and reminds me of a little of[b:Whatever Happened To My Sister? 25330147 Whatever Happened To My Sister? I think I was like this as a kid and I think you see kids act like this often to make a connection with a reader out there. I was kinda meh through the book, but still a nice read.
Cute art and absolutely fun idea! If you love d&d this book is especially rewarding, seeing concepts and creatures your familiar with. With the amount of math that goes into d&d I wouldn't be surprised to see a more complete math related book for d&d.
If your really into d&d you'll also notice that the white dragon isn't the dragon that's famous for lying...it's the green one!!
A girl falls in love, but the relationship is not great for her. She's stuck in this circle of getting back together and breaking up because Laura has found something else she's interested in for a while. With support from her friends she gets some advise, later she has experiences in her life that give her perspective. With her going with Laura whenever Laura wants, she realizes she's not that great of a girlfriend and makes her into a worse friend.
Really great story, pretty much true to life in the way of not everyone will receive what you might think of as justice or proper follow ups. Laura Dean, upset at being rejected, later is still just as happy. Even though the father knew about Doodle's abortion, there seems to be no follow up? The DM, who was married, must have be older than her. Gross. Nothing with the police or reports filed at all. In the end, a lesson learned by our character ultimately makes a lasting impact for happiness. The color palette used in this book is great and well used. The art itself is also fantastic! My life goal is to be like that DM old lady fortune teller <3
I really like Erin Lowry's voice, or maybe it's because she was my first financial books I've read [b:Broke Millennial: Stop Scraping by and Get Your Financial Life Together 32335700 Broke Millennial Stop Scraping by and Get Your Financial Life Together Erin Lowry https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1488693307i/32335700.SY75.jpg 52973003]Anyway, great read and one i'd love to buy and have on my shelf. Has some additional reading refs too.
Was 100% with batgirl when we had Babbs Tarr, Hope Larson was not doing as well for me, and again we have a change in authors with Mairghread Scott. Not a bad novel, has some great art and a bit of a gritty story so I'll continue reading for more.
I'm hoping this costume change is temporary while she stays with her dad.
Also, wtf Batgirl has a brother? This must be a fairly recent introduction that i'll have to catch up on.
Oooh, I can see why people really enjoyed this one. You slowly piece together the mystery with our detective and you don't know any evidence that he doesn't. I hate mysteries that keep a key clue hidden from you or add a clue last minute...this doesn't do that. As I was following along I almost got it wrapped up, a great story.
I will say i'm glad I got this on audio.
One thing I didn't care for was the constant comments on cultures/race to guess someone's actions or personality. That got tiresome
Ahh, what a great homage to the editions on d&d ~ Much love
Def. made by people who know the game and have a deep love for it. I especially love all the in jokes with skipping 4th, seeing certain editions of creatures, and all the d&d 80s cartoon references! My favorite part is seeing the cartoon dm change forms to people who have taken up the mantle
The art and story I really enjoyed.
I was really excited to read this after learning it was about ghost marriage, which I learned about after watching Ask A Mortician's video on ghost marriage. I was felt disappointed at the end. The beginning started out fine, where his brother died and needed a bride to keep him company in the afterlife. The brother, who is not the family's favorite, must bring him a corpse or be the shame of the family. I couldn't connect to the characters and just ended up bored because I knew what the ending would be. I really wished they had more discussions or learning about the culture of ghost marriage. The characters I really don't think they will last as a couple very long because they never seemed to get along or really connect with each other. The backgrounds and the watercolors are really beautiful, unfortunately the art style for the humans isn't as great and really pulls you away from the strong water color illustrations. This was a pretty quick read that if you are interested in ghost marriage would be worth checking out. ~Ashley
This book has outstanding photographs of death culture from around the world! Checking out this book is worth it 5/5 stars just for the photography alone! I've learned a lot about other cultures death ceremonies and monuments and it is a shame that death culture is not prominent in the US. This is a must if you are morbidly curious! You can special order this book at the Colona Public Library! ~Ashley
One of those coming of age at summer (roller) camp stories I'm a sucker for! Yeah, this story is pretty cute and well illustrated and reminds me of Smile or Sunny Side Up. Pretty amazing to watch a young punk grow up and learn understanding and respect to her two different types of friends. ~Ashley
This reminds me of foster's home for imaginary friends. This is definitely an imaginary friend tale that will warm your heart and let Beekle take you on an unimaginable adventure! ~Ashley
This book has a sarcastic girl with a lot of potential named Holly. This is a YA read about a girl in high school who accidentally gets her own column in the school paper. I was really hoping that she would become an investigative journalist but never really happens. In fact there are a lot of plot points that just fall flat. (view spoiler) Her new pieces read off like a personal journal. She has a great personality she could have been a great investigative journalist! Although if you are looking for a YA read about high school life with a bit of sarcasm this is a good one to grab. ~Ashley
