I got this book because I have a waffle iron and have no idea what to do with it! This has some nice recipes and I will always make banana bread on an iron now! I didn't try all the recipes but the ones I did try I enjoyed so I gave it a 3 star because I didn't get to try all of the recipes. ~Ashley

AHH, THIS BOOK IS SO CUTE! The art is such a nice style, color pallet, and full~ Full as in it's really appealing to look through. A cat stays for dinner and finds a home! But what does this human call this cat? Fun times ahead and some tricks!

This book has some cute illustrations. I was hoping this was going to be about leaving someone alone when they would like to sleep or along those lines. As the reader it felt like you were picking on this hedgehog, this could be interpreted in a playful way, who just wants to sleep. It was an ok story, this could be fun for others. ~Ashley

For a junior book about hedgehogs I think it is a good start for kids to understand the care for this bookish creature. Parents should read and do more research before making the commitment. Be sure to look up videos to see what a grumpy hedgehog looks and a gentle one looks like so you're prepared to know what you're dealing with. Are you prepared to take care of a hedgehog long term whose nature could range from grumpy to tame?
I would not recommend them as pets for kids who are under the age of 10. They have quills that are pokey that could hurt small children. Understand that they are not petpets like dogs or cats. They make nice companions but need to be treated gently.

I have a beef with a couple of pictures in this book. The 1st hedgehog picture the hedgehog actually is covered in poop. Which raises some concerns about the care of that hedgehog.
Please buy hedgehogs a wheel that has a solid bottom and is not wired. Sometimes their legs/nails can get caught and cause them injury.

I've had a total of 7 hedgehogs through my life (so far...) 5 of them I've bought from breeders and 2 have been rescues from bad situations. Sometimes I bring My hedgehogs into the library to show and talk about these amazing animals. If you're interested in them as pets please visit http://www.hedgehogwelfare.org/ for more information about the care needed for hedgies! ~Ashley

Aww, this is really too cute. You know how birthdays are exciting and fun this little library card (who went to school to be a birthday card) finds out about libraries he is equally excited. The enthusiasm for libraries in this book is too pure and makes me really happy! It's gorgeous! ~Ashley

This was felt a little rushed and the art was nice. Kinda gives the vibe of a web comic. I was kinda hoping that it would be a little longer to expand on the world and characters. They kinda start by tossing you into the story, that would be fine if they had some stronger characters. I'm not really sure what the characters motives are? The elf's goal is to find her brother, there are rogues, and a Ranger who wants to kick evil butt and apparently he was an ancient hero of sorts? It would be good to get the elf's reaction to him, since he's mistaken her identity. Does she think he's mad or really thinks somehow he's the real deal? You can defiantly tell this is a d&d style book because they use vocab and spells often. Like when they were attacked and the guards decided to retreat because they've used their advantage, monster description of a red dragon, and whenever using a spell. I can see this being inspiring and a learning tool for beginning players and dms.

I don't know too much about Baldur's Gate in general

I made the chicken tacos with cilantro salad, slow cooker pulled pork sandwiches, blackened tilapia with mango salsa, and crab cake salad. I would say this is a beginners type of book, which is fine because I am still learning. I like the format with the recipe and the picture of the food beside it. There were a few instructions I had to look up online separately from the book.

Chicken tacos came out ok. I was a big fan of how the chicken came out, it was my first time using the spices they suggested. The salad part was more like coleslaw, which I'm not a fan.

Slow cooker pulled pork was one of my favorite dishes we made! I've never deglazed the sauté pan with beer before and it defiantly made the flavor really pop! (This was an instruction I had to look up online) I will always do this from now on, the smell it created in the kitchen was like a brewery and mouthwatering!

I first tried some crab cakes at a dinner party and they we're phenomenal! The recipe they have in this book is really good, but I would suggest adding some corn to the mix. We used both real and imitation crab meat (made it twice) both turned out excellent!

Blackened tilapia was a fish I've been interested in finding a recipe for. The fish came out perfect, we made our own blacken seasoning. Not a fan of the seasoning, I'll probably make this again and replace it with something different. The mango sauce I messed up!

Here is what I liked about the book. 1) I did not know there was a BOTUS! (Bunny of the United States, love it!) Marlon Bundo is such a cute rabbit. 2) The illustrations obviously have effort put into it, even though they aren't thrilling 3) This book is a good recommendation for junior levels looking to learn more about government, Washington D.C., or famous pets.

No, I felt this was a really boring book, despite the fun idea of the BOTUS attending the Vice-President at his job. The writing in this book feels a little forced and there is not natural flow to what should be an exciting and busy day. At first, I was going to consider cutting some slack seeing Charlotte Pence was the daughter and my mind went straight to her being in middle school - Surprise! - She was a graduate of DePaul University 2016. Not really what I would expect. I'm glad she put some more notes at the end off the book to add some more context to her work because I didn't get it through the story.

The illustrations are charming and have been nicely crafted, although they don't capitalized on the exciting parts. A body of students getting to see the BOTUS! You can see the smiles of kids getting to met him (I would!) or seeing what the BOTUS gets to see through a telescope? Not well portrayed at all. Good quality of illustrations didn't have the layout to highlight some of the story content.

This seems like their first children's book, a craft that's difficult to master. Anyway, check this book out for yourself! ~Ashley

It's the year of the dog! (2018) This book has some bright and colorful illustrations that tells the story of the Chinese Zodiac animal order and why cats chase rats. Looking at this book I can imagine having a good time guessing who's next by examining the backgrounds to see what animal is on it's way! When the animals arrive they have a brief fun description about their personalities! ~Ashley

R.L. Stine and Marc Brown working on a book together?! Yay! I've been familiar with both of their works since I was a kid so, it's really cool seeing them together.

This is about a girl who loves scaring people or animals, anything she can get a reaction out of, the only one who is not bothered by her tricks is her cousin! She tries very hard through out the book to find a way to scare him. The illustrations are really colorful and fun, the ending I found funny. [ In the end the fear is cooties! This is something I did as a small girl to scare and chase boys away because of cooties! So, I thought it was amusing. (hide spoiler)] This could be a fun story for Halloween.

Pretty cute story, it's fun to imagine smart dinosaurs being in a parade and in current times. The illustrations are good and sometimes make me laugh at the expressions they make. If you're a fan of the movie I think this book is just as fun. ~Ashley

An oddball rabbit who doesn't like to read finds a lost book and is determined to find it's owner. He goes on an adventure in a another world.

The illustrations are quite cute. I was a little confused by the parallels of the rabbit world everyone has their nose in a book compared to the human world where everyone is on their phone. I think this is implying that you should be in the moment? It comes off as both phones and reading are bad and distracting, then our small rabbit character is reading and telling his story at the end.

Read this one for yourself and let me know what you think! ~Ashley

The art in this book is really awesome, the plot is likable, but the thing I like most about this book is the princess and her responsibility not only to her people but also to the creatures of the kingdom who's king kidnapped her. They did a good job making her not the typical princess who will continue to rule afterward but bringing justice and democracy to the kingdoms. Excellent job just showing compassion to the “enemy” and just making them normal folks. If there happens to be another I will be sure to pick it up! ~Ashley

If you want another not your stereotypical princess books I highly suggest Dealing with Dragons
