So I really like the first really well, the idea was really cool, loved the costumes, Bat woman stole the show every time she was on the page (still in this one I think too), Filled with strong female heroes, The art is incredible, the story was kinda meh... I figured it would get better this issue but it did not. The story was paced weird and kinda cluttered at action moments. ~Ashley

Hilda is an adventurous and curious girl who explores the wilderness filled with fantasy creatures! I am so happy to see that there is more to this series! Hilda's personality is so likable and the art style is very cute and it has a very strong color scheme. I can't wait to grab the rest to read. ~Ashley

This book is a bunch of Witches going on a road trip to get their stolen stuff back! This was fun and the characters had some nice depth to them. I'm kinda hoping this will continue on the kick-butt, solve magic crimes, road trip series path. I hope this continues with a few more books to explore world, magic concepts, and the friendships in the coven.

The colors and art are also nice is this book. ~Ashley

I really enjoy Shaun Tan's artwork, and I especially enjoy his books. This book particularly made me think about the message that was being portrayed and honestly there are several you could talk about and probably keep finding more. First, I interpreted this as bully/suicide. Death being one of freedon. I kept thinking that this could also be portrayed as retirement from a harsh industry. Kept thinking and this could be our relationship with nature. Nature being something we depend on the work of and treat it very harshly. In the end, nature will continue to be beautiful and thrive. Him leaving at the end with several others to a forest type closing cover laughing at us. Really, without this Cicada and several others the human society/workplace will collapse.

Anyway, that's a couple of takes I got when reading through this book. I'd love to see what everyone has to say about this piece of art! I highly recommend! ~Ashley

This is a re-read from me! I've watched the new Nimona movie - only kinda remembering the book. So, revisiting the book it is wonderful to see what elements/moments they kept and how it has been expanded to retell the story. BOTH are wonderful though! I enjoyed this book, nicely stylized, and such an easy and compelling one shot story that is well put together still.

fantastic!

This is a great series, The start was a great (I was blown away) and I like dynamics and relationships going on between the main two characters especially. How interesting it can be where the deaf girl was once welcomed and everyone wanted to help her then she just kinda interrupted their schedule and became an inconvenience which lead to the others tolerance of her being bullied or bullying her themselves. Interesting also to see that her main bully (and our man character) did bully her but also became a scapegoat for students to blame and became bullied and isolated himself. This isn't even the full story AND the story continues when they meet again when they are older. The main theme is bullying and they have some complicated relationships. Nothing is in black or white like you see all to often. There are many shades of grey that cover many situations and relationships. There is so much that you could have a discussion with friends, parent, teacher, cough librarianthatreallylovedthesebooks But I seriously recommend it to anyone going through school or those who really enjoy slice of life or coming of age type stories. ~Ashley

A fine read. Still glad I read this and I can see why people enjoyed this book...but not enough for me.

It's a female empowerment dystopian type...basically if women wanted revenge against the men instead of equality.

It had a few ideas I liked and really could relate to, but ultimately left me uninspired in the end. Not the kind of uninspired because it's dystopian but the kind of uninspired because I see this all the time where plot is that women would just be as bad as men because they have power over another gender now. MEH... Instead of just flipping the script I would like to see something more thoughtful...

I sometimes think about this.

- rec by Tim and steven universe ref.

This is a really short story, so you can finish it in about 10 min. and enjoy the art and such in that time easily.

I seen references to this story after watching Steven Universe and decided to read it for myself. There is a fault that opened up that has human silhouette holes in them that are too deep to even be calculated. Scientists are baffled because of how strange this event is and it gets weirder as people come from all around searching for their holes. Many of them go in never to be seen again..did they die? Where did they go? It's a mystery...yet people are compelled to go into these holes even though it basically means death for them. The ending is super unsettling and fantastic, the mystery in this book leaves me thinking and it's definitely one I will remember! ~Ashley

If you're a foodie this may be an enjoyable read. Although I love the idea of monsters for me it failed to grab my attention. I think if this was an anime in the background while i did chores it would be ok to watch. The art is really nice and does have some fun moments.

Sometimes a little cheesy but ultimately a helpful audio book. I'd rec. to those in a work place and dealing with public.

This is one to possibly re-read, i'm more interested in what dale carnegie has written.

Seems to kill the magic and best parts of what I loved about the 1&2 in the series

This is my first Octavia E. Butler read and I was completely captivated. It's about Dana, a black woman from the 1970's that gets threw back in time whenever her white ancestor is scared or near death. The only time she can get back to her present is if she is also scared or near death. This book is less about why she is going back in time but more of her survival on a southern plantation being educated, black, and a woman. I finished this in a couple of days. Dana is strong and likable character and her journey of survival through the plantation and slavery times I think was really frightening. I was always worried for her and her husband. Some bits I think she was getting some Stockholm syndrome or maybe acceptance of the new status quo [ which she bravely overcame! I was so scared that she would find her situation hopeless. (hide spoiler)] This was a really good and emotional read. I think this would be an interesting book to talk about in a book club or class.

The graphic novel I felt was really good. I'm not a big fan of the illustrations but they weren't bad or distracting. The layout of the panels are masterful and the colors are outstanding and together they really set the mood for the entire piece. I highly recommend this graphic novel version of the book! If I have some extra time I'm interested in reading the book too. ~Ashley

This is a great book that shows off Barbara's intelligence and unstoppable ambition. It's good to see Barbara learn about her costume and how to improve it, like getting rid of breakable heels, and getting the information she needs using her ability to access records from the police and her job as a librarian.
Some interesting parallels going on between Batgirl and Killer Moth as wanna-be side kick and wanna-be villain who kinda ends up as a sidekick.

This volume puts Wonder Woman's strength and compassion into one story that is super great. It's a one shot, which are usually my favorite types of comic books. The art is incredibly done where all the characters look wonderful and so do the backgrounds. ~Ashley

These are a short graphic novel series about a girl filled with curiosity and adventure! I am surprised for being so short that they make a beautiful full world, interesting stories, and a wonderful character. Very nice illustration and powerful color schemes. ~Ashley

I'm not really into short stories a ton but I really thought there were some good ones in this book. I'd say about half of them I really liked. I gave one extra star for the many types of art work and each story has a different type of style that kept it fresh! ~Ashley

This guy's writing voice sounds really pompous.

This book is really meh and repetitive (plus if you add the writer's voice = a bad time) and if you're looking for hotel tips...just give tips. There's not anything actually useful.
