I'm a sucker for a robot story and it delivers! It feels like the story of the velveteen rabbit where this AF (artificial friend) develops feelings of hope and duty to their child.

I read [b:No Longer Human Complete Edition 60094024 No Longer Human Complete Edition (manga) Usamaru Furuya https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1663132810l/60094024.SX50.jpg 94754403] and wanted to read the Junji Ito one right after to see how he portrayed this story. This story was good and it was interesting to see the additions and differences of the two tellings of this story.

Pretty good story, I love how Mike talks about the library. I think this story is pretty good and relatable. Mike really starts coming into his own despite all the set backs.

Great read, kinda reminds me of Catcher and the Rye. Maybe the coming of age, angst, and cursing. Except that this book I felt had a point and story to it.

Feels like something I would read in a newspaper comic strip. It's a fast cute read!

Barbara is an activist so her writing is very issue oriented. She takes on racism, sexism, and classism all in this writing through our witty and wise character Blanche.
This was a good mystery, it has a nice build and you really get into Blanche's character. She's great and I hear the series only gets better from here!

Great read, it's been on my radar for a while and it was worth it!

This read was pretty dated. It's more of an etiquette book and just a few useful tips if you weren't already aware of them.

It's hard to rate this book, If I had to I think it would be a 2-3.
I think the points that this book talks about are mostly good. We do live in society that is overworked, burnt out, broke, and a norm that productive/Hussle is a value.
It's a good book on these points - but it is looooong. It is stretched out so that the points really kinda dilute themselves. BUT i feel like if you are a workaholic then this book might be worth the length, if you are already on board with lazy doesn't equal bad. Then this book will offer less to you.

I just got the pun in the title because this book is about women who were cons. Con-fident women!

Good read! I didn't know about any of these women so it was interesting to get an overview of several of them. It was a good read.

A cute manga with nice illustrations! It's a pretty good book if you're looking for a yokai story too because they do a little teaching along the way.

A newer trend, but I think it will stick around honestly. I think minimalism takes a lot of time and money. I feel like people are tired of it because for most it's unrealistic. Having a home that looks lived in and having a collection of things is what is appealing about goblincore. Even better if you are including nature into your home. This book does have some witch vibes.

I liked that they took the time to explain the goblin core and took the time to address that goblins the history of goblins being used as an antisemitic characters. (Like Harry Potter goblins). I liked the little teaching moment for people who may not know this was a good way to handle the topic while trying to re-make it.

The book was in general, fine. Good read!

Solid art book, especially if you liked overwatch.

Esperanza is put in a situation where her family must start over from their previous rich life. I am re-visiting this book all the way from elementary school! This was one of the books they would read out loud in class. I was surprised how much I actually remembered and now that i am an adult I can see all the details and talking points that were put into this book. This is a great book to talk about immigration and the complications that come with having to start over in a new country... plus a little extra!

Excellent book! It was fun to read this again after sooo long.
Be sure the read the touching author's note.

A good read and really helpful if you deal with internal chatter of your mind. I would say even use it to the fullest. This may be a re-read for me or if I could find a good podcast coverage of it.

Full of despair - great! This was one I picked up because Ito has a newer version of this story. I decided to do this one first, I finished this in a couple of day. We follow a character who has had a facade his entire boyhood to adult hood as a likable clown. This character works best with simple exchanges and doesn't like it when things get more complicated. Like his exchanges with sex workers when they try to get to know him or when he gets married. His wife is young and well protected by her family. She has an innocence that is uncomplicated and attractive to him, as soon as her life experiences a trauma he just can't seem to take that. He is afraid of people and is full of despair. Very interesting read and good art style and story telling through a 3rd party person. Can't wait to see how Ito portrays this work. A great book for reference and a super friendly book for beginners! Takes a nice gentle approach to cleaning like [b:How to Keep House While Drowning: A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organizing 60139504 How to Keep House While Drowning A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organizing K.C. READ BY RUBY BRIDGES!
This was a short read but a good one.

It's hard to believe that this wasn't that long ago that it can still be narrated by Ruby. This book got me thinking and hoping.

It was an ok read. I have been craving some lgbt+ stories since i'm getting married but this didn't hit the spot. The thoughts seemed to jump around here to there and I wanted something like focused on the wedding, or how straight- weddings are the only foundation we really have for expectations & society, traditions and what they wanted and what they didn't. It was written as a diary format, so all the thoughts seemed really personal so it was a nice read in that aspect. Thoughts seemed to jump around fast to me and I wish more time was focused on other topics or if the book was longer to give the author a good amount of time to reflect.

I'm so glad this person had a nice personal wedding and a lot of support. I also liked that the wedding wasn't the happy ending, the happy ending was living everyday with someone you love.

It was an ok read. An interesting perspective from the dog who is a character you follow with our private eye. It's an interesting concept, and I think this author managed to pull that off. The story was fine. I wasn't crazy about our detective, so it was putting me off.

I'm just not into “tough guy” men. I think they are losers, tbh. BUT if it's your thing, you may like some of John Grisham or Jim Butcher authors because they write some characters in this style.

Chet, I liked, I thought he worked well with the story. It was nice to have a likable character to follow around. The only thing I didn't care for was that this dog also had to be a “tough guy” dog?? It's just a weird.
If you liked it because of the dog perspective, you may also like “ The Art of Racing in the Rain.”

It's an excellent book if you are a fan! Really fun to read with the episodes or if you just finished watching them again!
Venture bros. The movie came out, so I've been about them recently.

Nice book, it's for a very specific audience of the venture watchers. Which is both a compliment and criticism. I took off a star for it. You can't casually like this book. Maybe if it showcased some full cover art spreads? Maybe? But if you are a fan, it's a really great book!

I used to have the dvds a long time ago that I probably that I had to sell at some point. (Rip), but it's got a nice commentary type reading. It was great to revisit and get some new details about it.

A loveletter.

Probably a 3.5 ~ Closer to a 4 than a 3.

Wow, wtf? It's been a while since i've read something really bizarre like this. The writing style really captured the mood perfectly - and I do love an un-reliable narrator type of story. I maybe had a theory that she was really into her writing and fell into it?? I changed my tune on this as things continued... Could be really worth a re-read to catch some of the details!

Anyway, great writing style to sink you into this fever dream. Some moments go for too long but I was still on my toes because I knew something bizarre could happen at any minute. To really like this book you'll have to suspend your disbelief and follow around a disaster girl type character.

I got this rec. from booktok and it did not disappoint. I got this book free from the library on libby!

This is an ok read - I think a podcast would be more more enjoyable for me! Got this at the library on audio format!

To enjoy this book you will have to suspend your disbeliefs and just let it take you for a ride. If you have trouble with that you will not like the book.

This book was full of drama, murder/mystery kinda, and romance! It's a little of everything! It goes quickly just as quickly as it came. There are some great parts to this book, but sometimes things went by too quickly or I got confused. I still think this was worth the wait and I got it at my library!

Beautiful and emotionally raw. Grace does an amazing job letting us into her life and the experiences she had with her childhood and mother. I learned so much about history and how it has had a ripple effect into the next generation. This story is raw and I am so glad for the honesty and openness about her life, mother, history, and more was given in this book. This book was a library read and I was so happy to finally finish it. If you can connect with this book then be prepared for the full book because it was a lot to take in and think about.
Great book!

A great collection of essays from people with disabilities. I've added tags for short stories and bio/memoirs because of the multiple essays and personal nature of them for myself to reference.

Many difference stories and perspectives really helped me get a greater understanding and introductions to a world. I enjoyed a majority of the stories and wished some where longer. I'm glad this was put together!

Honestly, one of the best wedding books i've read so far. (I read the most current edition in like 2021-ish?) I'm going to be getting it again from the library.
I thought this was kind and addressed a lot of the feelings i've been going through - has examples of other weddings. It will be what it needs to be is a new mantra to help let things go.
I just thought this book was wonderful!
