Listened to the audiobook while following along. The audiobook does have an extra story that the physical book didn't include, otherwise it was an amazing immersive experience. Mr. Ballen's voice and the way he tells stories keeps you absolutely enamored. I've been watching Mr. Ballen on YouTube for years and have been listening to his podcasts since the very beginning... so picking up this book was an absolute no brainer for me. The art style compliments the stories and Mr. Ballen's theme perfectly.
Just finished listening to the audiobook while simultaneously following along in my signed hardcover copy. I am left feeling both heartbroken and hopeful. Harris and Walz would've been an amazing duo on Capitol Hill. It is the American people who either didn't vote for Harris and those who chose to stay at home who are to blame for the shit-show we are in now.
I absolutely love that Kamala Harris wrote this book, it was exactly what I and I'm sure many others who feel lost, needed. This book is a reality check. Yes cruelty prevailed but the fight isn't over. This book also gave the reader a fond look back at wonderful memories/events and that unadulterated optimism we felt before the hammer fell.
First book I've finished in almost a year. I am so happy I read this book! It was so good! Loved getting to know Eleven's (aka Jane's) mother before Brenner broke her. I absolutely loved Terry's friends, Gloria, Ken, and Alice! Also, her boyfriend was great too! Honestly was pretty depressing too though, thought I was going to cry a couple times.
Overall, if you love the show Stranger Things, then I highly recommend reading this book!
Actual rating: 3.5 starsWhen people told me this series is better than the Mortal Instruments, I was skeptical... cause the Mortal Instruments sucks.. I've never been as bored by a book or as annoyed by characters before. So, I assumed the worst of this series as well, you know, cause it's set in the same world and written by the same author. I found myself actually caring about Tessa, Holy S**t I actually like a character written/created by Cassandra Clare?! I thought I'd never see the day lol. I really love Charlotte, she's great. I love Jem & Sophie & Thomas as well. Everyone else can pss off. Well... I suppose Magnus wasn't too bad, but I have yet to actually care about him.
Anyways... I have to read City of Fallen Angels first (Blahhh insert throw-up emoji here) but then I can finally get to Clockwork Prince! Super excited!
