Wow! I really loved this book. I had high expectations going in (I adore Pirate/Siren/Mermaid centric books & I really loved the authors previous two books) and I wasn't disappointed.
I absolutely love the main character Fable and I can't wait to see what kind of trouble she gets into in the next book!
This was an enjoyable read... definitely gave me nostalgia of when I read the original trilogy years ago. Unfortunately I didn't love this Novella collection as much as I loved the original trilogy. I'm not sure if it's because these stories were told from Four's perspective or that I am just not in love with this world anymore..
Overall, it was pretty okay, mediocre.
I didn't enjoy this as much as the previous Rick and Morty Deluxe Editions. The art was relatively decent though... There just weren't any stand out stories.... Not to mention most of this was pretty lazy by taking episodes from the show and slightly tweaking them. I hope Book Six & Seven are better.
Wow. This was a beautiful piece of literature.
This volume spanned the entire course of President Obama's first term as president. It's quite clear in this book (if you didn't somehow know it already) that Barack Obama is a hard working, honest, respectful man.
Before reading this book I thought I couldn't possibly HATE “Though Who Shall Not Be Named” more than I already do.... hahahaha but I was wrong. Getting to understand why M. did what he did... that all he cares about is himself therefore he wants to hurt as many hard working, decent people as possible. Ugh.. what a horrible, horrible man.
Also, I loved President Obama's thoughts about his democratic colleagues, especially Hillary.
DISCLAIMER: I AM A PROUD NEW YORKER, JUST A CITIZEN NOT A F*ING PUBLICIST. I WAS NOT PAID/ASKED/TOLD/ETC TO GIVE THIS REVIEW
BEFORE YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT NEW YORK'S NURSING HOME DEATHS, DO SOME RESEARCH FIRST SO YOU DON'T SOUND LIKE AN IDIOT.
Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Maryland, Texas, Arizona, Alabama, Indiana, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Illinois & California all have more Nursing Home deaths than New York. What Cuomo did wasn't perfect, and he has learned from his mistakes (So why hasn't all the rest of these governors learned from Cuomo's mistakes? They have had ample time to do something!) At the time Nursing Home patients who were recovering from COVID were released back to their homes, bed space was urgently needed for people who needed them.
I really enjoyed this immersive almost day-by-day look at the timeline of the COVID-19 Pandemic up to around June. What I really love about this book and Cuomo in particular is that credit is given where credit is due. Although Cuomo and Trump (not to mention his entire administration) disagree on nearly everything politically, whenever Trump, Pence or even Kushner did something good, Cuomo outright acknowledged it. Throughout the entirety of this book, it was made crystal clear that Cuomo loves New York. I am proud that Cuomo is my governor, even though I may not agree with all of his actions.
Overall, Cuomo's actions saved so many lives, while the Orange Turd desperately trying to destroy our democracy did absolutely nothing to help the country.
Ultimately I was surprised and grateful that this book focused on the facts and what needed and still needs to be done instead of being a 308 page essay on how Trump & his administration wanted to let people die. I'm really glad I listened to the audiobook, of which I highly recommend!
This book was everything I thought it would be, so I got everything I wanted out of it.
Colin is one of the best things to happen to SNL at least in my lifetime. So, of course I had to get this book. I think he is extremely talented and he makes me smile each time I see him on screen (even when the jokes aren't that funny, I'm just happy to see him). With that being said, when I got to the end of this book I was definitely screaming “NOOOOO!” like a banshee. I am happy for Colin and understand that it's not going to happen right away... but I will miss him.
This book made me laugh like an idiot & giggle like a moron (lol) and a couple chapters were... well lets just say, hard to read (not in a “this is stupid” way, more like “this is really emotional.. very heartbreaking” kind of way).
I am really happy for Colin & Scarlett and I wish them all the best!
WOW! Honestly WOW! This is the first volume in this series that I absolutely devoured every second of. This was so freaking good. Even though I am sad about a certain character dying (cause I was so excited about a certain power couple...), but whatever... I get it. These characters aren't going to live much longer anyways (not a spoiler! Says so in the description of the first volume).
Anywho.... I f***ing hate Woden, The Morrigan, and Minerva... really hope they die. Persephone is really the only character that's left that I absolutely care about. So... I'm sure I'm going to be devastated by the end of this series.
*Actual rating is a 3.5
I enjoyed this, I really did.. but I had such high hopes for this one and unfortunately it ultimately let me down. Maybe I was expecting a Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles) level of retelling, or maybe not.. I don't know.
The characters were all right.. the plot was okay. The world building was fine... There just wasn't anything memorable about it... nothing was truly outstanding. Maybe I should lower my rating, but I just currently don't have the heart to.
The reason why this graphic novel bind-up took me so long to read was because I was only reading one story at a time, spread out so I could make it last longer. Plus, they were really great before bed.
I love the Rick & Morty TV show and I have enjoyed the Deluxe Graphic Novel bind-ups so far. I think the first deluxe bind-up was the strongest and best overall in content, art style, story lines, etc. Deluxe bind-ups two through four have fallen to a close second to the first one.
The Beth featured story is definitely my favorite in this bind-up.
I honestly wasn't a big fan of the Pocket Morty stories in this bind-up. They were okay but I would've been happy without them. They were kinda subpar, or “Meh” in enjoyment levels.
I am extremely disappointed that Dan Harmon & Justin Roiland didn't continue the sound chips in this bind-up. It's one of the best parts of these bind-ups. & they honestly made up for how much money these books cost.
I can only hope the sound chips will continue in deluxe book five.
This book was one of my most anticipated releases of last year. Although, it's unfortunately not a new favorite book of mine like I thought it would be... it still was quite enjoyable.
I really loved the reveal at the end of the book though! Ugh, that was so awesome! I have a theory as to what is going on with Prince Aketo & why he was sent to guard Eva. Guess I'll have to wait until book two to know if I am correct.
Honestly I thought this book was a little boring. The chapters dragged, most of the characters annoyed the ever-living life out of me. But, I promised myself I would finish this book because I own almost all the books in the shadowhunters universe... & they cost a pretty penny.
I don't like Jace... maybe he'll get more likable as the series goes on.. idk. Clary is just straight up annoying. Luke & Maia are the only characters I truly liked in this book. Isabelle grated on my nerves. I feel neutral about Magnus. Alec's character did a 180 from the first book.... I just didn't believe it.
Hopefully City of Glass will be better. Since I already know that Jace & Clary end up together.. I'm pretty sure they aren't truly brother and sister.. hopefully that gets cleared up soon cause all this dancing around their feelings for each other is pissing me off. Definitely one of the bigger reasons why I don't really like this series so far. I really hope that there is going to be some good character development soon.
