I saw some reviews being annoyed at the long start up to the “action” but I didn't mind. I think it establishes the stakes. My issue was it all got wrapped up too neatly and I wanted an epilogue about Josie and Neena's relationship shop after the fact. But still a spooky and gorey read!

A Southern gothic book that isn't weirdly nostalgic about the Confederacy/antebellum South! You love to see it. It's also a powerful book about sisterhood, colorism and passing, and the untrustworthiness of white “allies” like Finch Waylon.

A true delight! I loved those scamps and how they just wanted to get drunk.

Another winner as usual. For some reason I've read this “out of order” but it doesn't super matter. I know the side characters have their own books that I can go back to, but this was just perfect for right now. Sexy and sweet with some relatable characters dealing with anxiety and family issues.

A sea story with a lot of depth, commentary on colonialism and classism, adventure, and even a dragon. I LOVED this. Also just look at the cover. So beautiful!

A fun but sobering tale of a tween girl having the save the world by reforestation after climate change.

A perfect delight of a book! It's exciting but also full of kindness and empathy.

I enjoyed this - the world building and writing was beautiful - but wanted the plot to come together a little quicker. Or just maybe not be a series starter which I assume it will be.

Great fun for anyone who read at least one Bronte sister book. It made me laugh out loud numerous times (the duck! the bike!)!

This is was really fun! I loved Ropa's voice and slang. I was a bit surprised at how genuinely creepy the house and the milkman were so if you don't like dashes of horror in your fantasy, you might want to skip this one.

First of all, the dreamy, watercolory art is absolutely GORGEOUS! I loved the story and the analogy of a trans/alien experience worked for me. Definitely more of a romance than a superhero story, it's still a great origin for a cool new hero!

I enjoyed but didn't love this. It was a lot to pack into a novella and maybe would have been better suited to a full novel. But I liked how Fellian took control of her own life at the end.

Pen is the best and his owner doesn't appreciate him!!!!

A mystery that's less a whodunnit and more of a meditation on grief and trauma. I do feel like this increased my vocabulary!!

An interesting and sad story about corporate malfeasance and hubris as well as a reminder of the people who work on public projects. Also, a great “dad” book, LOL!

A good primer to start with if you're an adult working with trans and nonbinary students. Or if you just might encounter a trans or nonbinary person (you will!). While geared toward educators, there is a lot to learn and use for everyone.

A character study in the responses to power and the abuse of power. A slower paced read for me but one that is important.

Sweet story and gorgeous art!

Cute cryptid story!
