Really annoying banter between the main character and the love interest. Just sounds like two immature teenagers talking to each other even though the characters are supposed to be adults. Couldn't get through a couple of pages without cringing at the dialogs.
This book has terrible descriptions of the settings and kind of feels like you're in a blank space all of the time.

Is it weird I like the first book better? I think the newness of the story was what I enjoyed in the first one. With the second book, I was more familiar with the author's style and the way she likes to reveal big plot twists, so it wasn't as surprising and unexpected. Overall still an enjoyable classic fantasy read.
I'm so sad that this book was so disappointing. The premise sounded so great on paper and I was so sad it did not deliver. The premise ended up being so weak, the characters were unlikable and lacked growth, it wanted to be deep but failed on all accounts. This book lacked any original thought and was a completely bland story.
1000/5 stars!
This book was everything it should have been! was heartbreaking, adventurous, emotional, action packed, romantic, made me cry for the last 200 pages.
Everything resolved itself in such a satisfying way even through this build up has been going on for 8 books! It's so bittersweet to be done with this series.
I did not find myself enjoying this one as much as the first one. I feel like it did not keep my attention throughout the story and I found that I had to force myself to pick it up each time.
I also did not enjoy the Io/Bianca dynamic and wished that the whole first part of the story did not take place as a journey with the two of them. Also, a lot of the premises felt weak and not fully explained. I did not find myself enjoying the conclusion either and hope the Author will add an Epilogue before the book gets published to show what happened to the characters and society in general. Felt like the story just abruptly cut off and wasn't satisfying.I received this as an ARC from Netgalley.
This book was exceptional! What a great story! It totally kept my attention from start to finish even though it was heavy on the world building, and technical when it came to explaining how things functioned in this original fantasy world.
The plot was so well developed and thought through! I love the unique setting with the massive leviathan monsters that are kind of looming over the entire book as a potential threat. The gigantic layered walls built to keep them out and a military society built constantly fight them off is very reminiscent of Attack of the Titans and I'm not mad about it.
The murder mystery element was amazing as well. No random tidbits thrown out throughout the book are wasted and every character we meet has a purpose.
Din and Ana were such great characters, and were the perfect duo; very reminiscent of Holmes and Watson. I love how brilliant and chaotic Ana is, and how she held all of her deductions close to herself to surprise both the reader and the other book characters when the time was right. Din on the other hand is straight-laced and proper but is willing to step outside of this box when necessary for his ambition and the greater good.
I'm really hoping that future books would give us more background information and insight into Ana character. There is so much more that can be explored in the plot and I cant wait to see where this series goes!
I'm so impressed with this book and would recommend it to anyone what wants to read a solid murder mystery set in a fantasy world with great characters, unique setting, and captivating plot.

Cute Cinderella retelling focusing on a fairy godmother type character who sucks at magic and gets caught up in a murder that she has to solve with a handsome detective way out of her league. I love a plot point that has a FMC oblivious to how the MC feels about her and this book definitely delivered on that.
This book was so good! Why do people not talk about it more??? It's relatively short but packs such a punch. I love the main character. The things he suffers, but is still able to forgive and lets go of injustices against him make me want to protect him at all costs. I love the plot and was constantly surprised and completely hooked. So well done!
A morally gray story set in a city where you can turn into your worst nightmare if you dream in your sleep. The main character is a coward who is terrified of everything. In a series of unfortunate events she has to team up with a nightmare boy who may or may not be planning on eating her. Thus begins her journey to overcoming her fears. I really enjoyed this story! It was fast paced, fun, and had a really interesting premise! Will definitely be reading book 2.
A cozy fantasy romance about two cinnamon rolls who can't help but fall for each other. The MC is a male siren rejected by his people and desperately trying to stay unattached to people to prevent himself from getting hurt. The FMC is an elven tinkerer who is asked to create a golem to protect some helpless fae folk who are being brutally attacked. This books was so cute and cozy and I absolutely loved both MCs!
Witchy fantasy about coming into your powers, questioning what you've been told your whole life, and being true to one's self. I thought this was a well written story with a good premise and good characters. Kind of frustrated with the FMC's decisions at times but not mad about it because it felt intentional to the character's growth.

A short and very interesting book about re-introducing wolves to native environments to restore the ecosystem, and the push back and problems from the farmers and local communities that come with that endeavor. This book also had a murder mystery and romance element that kept the story going and it played out in chaotic and great way.
