I absolutely LOVED this book.
Michael & Holly became my favorite characters rather quickly. I love a Hero that's different. Michael wasn't funny, he was awkward & didn't know what to say half the time. But, it made me love him even more because it gave a more realistic feel to the story. I wondered if maybe he was on the spectrum a little bit or if he was just a quiet, awkward man? The author didn't touch on that, so I'm guessing it's the latter.
Holly was really sweet & I instantly liked her. She broke my heart with her back story, and then it further broke my heart that no one besides Michael liked her. She had absolutely no friends and no one that she could talk to. She was a strong character though, and I really clicked with her personality.
Something that I really enjoyed, even though it's technically Michael & Holly's story, you get chapters with the other characters too. Some people think that it takes away from the story itself, but I LOVE seeing how the other characters lives are playing out!
The only thing that I'm disliking about this series so far is...Ghost. He fucking kills me. I'm a little late to posting this review, but I'm already almost done with Walsh's story & I read the novella. Ghost hasn't gotten better, he still pisses me off. In other MC books that I've read, the Prez always has a soft spot for the ladies that his men care about, because they have a lady at home who they would kill for & they understand that their men would do the same. Ghost doesn't seem to care about his brothers like he should, which to me is realllllly shitty. Not to mention, he has done some shady shit. (In Fearless with Ava.) It's gonna be interesting to read his book. Hopefully it will give me some insight as to why he's such a major asshole.
Sorry, got off topic a bit. I seriously loved this book & I know that I'm gonna love the rest of the series. The author is amazing. I can't stress enough how well written these books are. These books aren't for the faint of heart though, if you do not like to read about dark topics I suggest you find something more light-hearted.
