A very unique story. The main subject is the young hero's pursuit of a good education for the young people of his Iowa town. While I didn't come to fully be sold on his conclusions of “how” the education should be accomplished, it definitely could turn out useful, educated farm citizens. Growing up homeschooled, we definitely knew people who employed a similar style of using examples at hand to teach math and history. Some very good ideas on education, though not perfect...and I can say I'd take his rural methods over Common Core any day.
Almost zero romance.
