A delightful short novel about the French Huguenots and the persecutions they faced directly after the revocation of the edict of Nantes. It is suitable for the middle grade level as most of the violence is implied rather than described, and even a couple duels are kept mostly gore free. It's got all sorts of adventure, from mad escapes and time as a slave and more, and the gentleman Adair is an excellent example of faith and courage to the young teen MC.
