FROM POPULAR ROMANCE AUTHOR LILY MICHAELS Book one in the Improbable Bonds series Erik's adolescent crush becomes a very adult relationship at his high school reunion. Seeing his former bullies starstruck is definitely on Erik Stevens' agenda for his high school reunion. Hooking up with someone is not. He has resolved to end the meaningless sex that has dotted his life, even though it fed his need to dominate. Now he is looking for a man—a submissive—for a relationship that will last forever. But Erik hasn't counted on Kyle. For ten years, Kyle Lincke has cursed his repressed sexuality that, in high school, kept him from acting on his crush...Erik. As soon as he receives Erik's RSVPed &‘yes' to the reunion, Kyle begins working up the courage to finally act on his desires, difficult for him to do following a disastrous break-up. But six weeks of exploration into BDSM and small steps toward a deeper relationship are thrown into jeopardy when Erik's fame threatens their bond—and Kyle's fragile psyche.

Lily Michaels makes me want to go to high school reunion if this is what happens: hot, hot, and more hot. Let me just say kudos to Kyle for the initial guts of going up to Erik in the first place, because one you get to know him you will realize just how huge this is for him. Unlikely Reunion is about more than just the hook-up at a reunion (laugh) no matter how hot it is.
Michaels creates two characters who were more than human in high school and are still just as flawed now. I am writing flawed, but that is not really the term I want. They are amazing people where they are life, BUT they still carry the past with them and let it impact who they are today. The flaws are not of their own making, but are a result of the scars caused by others.
Michaels has both characters deal with their homosexuality in different ways and we see how it affected them in the past, now, and how they allow it to affect their future. Michaels does this in a beautiful non-preaching way and lets the characters stumble and fall.
This is not to say that there are not a lot of romantic moments in the book...oh yes there are (thank you!). I love Erik and Kyle together. I think you will want to go to the Reunion too.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
