This book lacked just a little in being a four star book. Sometimes the telling got in the way of the story but overall a really good book.

Mr. Brown wrote the first few chapters of this book as if he were already writing the script for the movie. The only problem is, is that in my opinion this movie, which will be a blockbuster starring Tom Hanks, should actually be a written for television movie.

I think in a lot of ways this book simply abandoned story. I kept reading because I didn't think it was so awful and then I got to the final chapters and discovered that yes indeed it was pretty awful. The final supposedly exciting conclusions left me cold, left me bored and left me annoyed that I'd put this much time into “the word”.

Imminently useful and exceedingly entertaining.

Raucous and interesting in a weird sort of way.

I used to read this book on a yearly basis and every time I read it, it related to some new area of my life. It's time I read it again for another illumination. This book is life-changing.

Good. I'm just not sure I'm even enough of a rudimentary artist to make this work for me. Perhaps with practice...but I think I need to concentrate first on basic handwriting.

Not for me. I had a tough time getting through this, not because of the “shocking” subject matter, but because I was bored.

Now I've read it.

Examines themes of slavery using a circus housed on a riverboat as a backdrop. Kid's book that is OK but perhaps a bit below my grade level.

Strong and moody with evocative language. The author worked as a roustabout in the circus for three years so you get an insider look at the behind the scenes workings. This story is at times bleak and takes you deep into a point form where you see no salvation. You do finally emerge but to a somewhat weak ending.

Kadray continues to deliver!

Fun book of essays you will enjoy if you like, as the author says, sheep in a platonic, health, non-gross sort of way - which I do.

Laugh out loud on occasion and purely farm nostalgia for me since I've been away from it for so long.

Underwater puppies. Aww..

If someone was thinking of starting a collection of first editions, I think this one would be a good one to start with. Go buy two copies of this book - one to read and one to be kept in a safe space. Then whenever the author is coming close to where you live to do a signing - go stand in line and wait patiently till you have both copies signed. I truly wish I was closer to a larger city at this point so I could follow my own advice. Ms. Morgenstern is an author to watch!

This book was captivating, well plotted, and achieved it's purpose of telling a great story while enchanting me and drawing me deep into the world of the characters.

Enjoy!

As always Tim Ferris is a winner.

Great book on how using micro-resolutions can change your life.

Price point for Kindle is too high though I think $14.99.

Disjointed

I'm giving it a four but I got pulled out of the story very near the end when Dunya told them to make a stake from a Rowan tree and two pages later, Vasya says she told them to cut a Birch tree. Otherwise good story.

This book was creepy, chilling, and atmospheric. AND then we get to the last 50 or so pages and it fell apart. Felt like the author didn't know how to end the book and so hit for the cheap seats.

For me it was on a course for a four star rating - maybe a five. Then those last pages took the tingle right out of my imagination.

Super skimmable. Thin plot. Wanted to like it - couldn't.

I'm just not a Gaiman fanboy. I'd like to be but he doesn't speak to me. Still this was a fine retelling of the Eddas.

A little to young YA for me.

Laugh aloud funny to OMG am I reading the same book cause this is Soooo boring.
