Do not read this book unless you want to get angry! The author spends the book trying to dispel ‘myths' about the food industry, but never offers any counter explanations of his own.

This book is hilarious. Charlie Asher is quirky, smart, and likeable, as are his lesbian sister and the goth-girl and sexually repressed ex-cop who work in his second-hand store. Definitely recommended.

Loved the story about his sister wearing the fat suit.

Perfect for a book club discussion. Ghosts, crime, teenage angst, relationship issues... Really enjoyed the narrator and the other family members, especially the dad and sister.

Slightly trashy ‘historical' novel. An easy, fun read, although long.

I did not expect to like this book, but I really did. The main character deals with her husband's betrayal with more class than I would be able to muster. A quick and enjoyable read.

Cute and easy. I almost wanted not to like it, but I couldn't! It was just too cute.

A little depressing - how well can people really know each other? But the story line is interesting.

I couldn't even get through it...

My book club read this book and then went to the world premiere of the opera production. The opera was... interesting. The book was great.

This is a book that I just couldn't stop thinking about once I'd finished. I alternately abhorred Bigger and felt sorry for him and his circumstances. Could get a little tedious, but worth it.

I have recommended this book to many people - it's a great story of two girls from India who grew up like sisters.

A little off-putting at first - but if you can get past the idea that the main character's grandparents were brother and sister, you're in for a great read. The author really captures adolescent girlhood in all its turmoil and glory.

You'll learn more about the restaurant industry than you might want to. Bourdain can get very pompous and annoying, but he tells it like it is.

Pretty funny, but can get long at times. Made me want to try a vodka gimlet to get through life's troubles.

Gives an interesting description of Chicago and how that city was built up during the World's Fair. It is fun to visit Chicago now with that history in mind.

A great book. Gogol goes through all the typical adolescent trauma plus the added concern of having a different background from his peers. I enjoyed this book a lot.

I'm not much of a crier, but I was sobbing at the end of this one. Consider yourself warned.

How much opera is it possible to attend in the 1800s in Russia? You may never know. But read this book anyway!

This book would make a great movie.

My book club couldn't stop talking about everything that happens in this book. It was almost too unbelievable. Then it turned out we were right.

I really enjoy reading about religions, and Mormonism is fascinating. Krakauer does a good job of weaving a story in with the educational aspects of the topic.
