I own a physical copy of this book, so my review is for the paperback.
I resonate with Konstantinos due to him being Greek, I have eclectic beliefs, that includes the Roman, Greek, Norse pantheons, Dark Goddesses & Daemons I know of one of my past lives in Ancient Rome, so what the author is saying about Gods & Goddesses resonates with me.
The path of night & being a nightkind resonates with me as well.
I don't believe in the New Age love & light, positive only vibes, toxic positivity, that denies that the dark part of the self even exists, these types of people don't do shadow work and it shows, they are the most likely to experience spiritual psychosis.
This is a good book to start with if you are new to practicing witchcraft, it's good to learn the basic principles of witchcraft first, then you can focus more on what does or doesn't resonate with you and what works best for you as a individual person, solitary witch, not all witches believe in Deities, not all witches celebrate the sabbats, solstices or equinox's either, it depends on the type of witch they are and the type of witchcraft they practice, not all spiritual paths includes witchcraft though.
I own the author's other books, so I am intending to read them next.
I have read the first portion of the book, it's interesting even though the explanation for the godform assumption & casting & circle, banishing ritual seems a bit complicated & I wouldn't say it's beginner friendly if you're new to the craft.
I need to study & learn the basic principles of witchcraft, protecting my energy, consecrating objects/items that will be magical tools, or statues & other items that represent the Deities or offerings I want to give to Deities I want to work with.
Raising energy, grounding energy etc .
There is a lot to learn.
I don't have privacy to openly practice witchcraft like I want to unfortunately.
There are various methods for establishing a strong bond/connection with Deities over time, but it takes a long time to develop.
If you have psychic/intuitive/empathic abilities it will make it a lot easier to use your intuition & spiritual to communicate with the Deities you want to with, it will be a lot easier to perceived their energy, presence & influence whenever you interact with them.
My review is for the paper book book
This book is about hauntings, witchcraft/the occult, mythological/cryptozoological creatures/beings of unknown origin & unknown species, I already know about a lot of the information in the book so, but there are some excepts that I didn't know about & I have never heard of before.
My favourites are:
Hampton Court (Tudor residence of Henry the VIII in England)
Nordic Noir
Prison Presence in Eastern State Penitentiary (American Prison)
Aokigahara Forest A.K.A “The Sea of Trees” or “The Suicide Forest” in Japan
Langham Hotel (London)
The Ten Bells Pub (London)
Poveglia Island (Plague Island in Venice, Italy)
Château De Brissac (A haunted French Château)
The Tower of London
Ancient Revenge
Athens in Chains
Tie a Yellow Ribbon
The Exorcism of Roland Doe
Loudun France (Possession of Nuns)
Japanese Yōkai
British Hellhounds
Thomas Edison's “Spirit Phone” Invention
Scotland's Last Witch-Helen Duncan
The Ten Bells Pub in the East End of London, where people have seen the creepy Victorian spectral sighting of “Jack the Ripper” & some of the unfortunate victims of “Jack the Ripper” were also seen there at the pub as well. It's quite creepy that people have seen either of the spirits of “Jack the Ripper” & some of his victims, but I also think one the creepiest aspects of the pub is the rom that the psychic refused to go into, due to being disturbed and creeped out about the death of a baby.
The psychic said about a baby that was horrifically murdered & their clothing was cut with a knife, which was proven to have actually happened, some baby clothes were found, that were cut with a knife, but the death of the baby was unexplained, which is sad and very creepy.
I haven't heard of this London pub before, so this was creepy and really interesting to read about.
It's creepy that some of the victims of “Jack the Ripper”were found dead & mutilated near the Ten Bells Pub in London.
Harry Houdini was an escapologist, an amazing, mesmerising & really interesting person & magician.
He was a Hungarian-American, his known magician name was Harry Houdini but his real name was Erich Weiss.
He was really interested in the occult, he was sceptical of psychics, mediums and vowed to personally expose them for taking advantage of people that were grieving, they just wanted to talk to their dead relatives that died during World War 1 which is really sad & disgusting that they were exploited.
Harry Houdini didn't really believe Sur Arthur Conan Doyle's wife was a medium, so this led to them falling out and no longer being friends.
He was sceptical of the messages received via automatic writing due to it being in English, when his mother spoke German very well, but didn't speak or write in English well.
The circumstances that led to Harry Houdini's death were avoidable, he was punched several times in his stomach, he had appendicitis but continued to perform magick tricks to entertain people.
He was sweating and unwell, it wasn't until his wife Bess told him to seek medical help that he did anything about it, he waited too long to seek help, so doctors were unable to operate on him & remove his appendix because it had ruptured and he had gangrene which is an infection.
He died on 31st October-Halloween in 1926.
My review is for a physical copy of the book I own.
Oliver Fitch is a mild-mannered man, that doesn't always have the stubbornness, inner strength or courage to stand up for himself or for his wife especially when a gangbanger, thug is threatening to inflict violence upon her.
He's married to his wife Lydia, but over time their relationship has become a love/hate, volatile and hostile type of relationship, they can't stand each other and constantly point out each others flaws whenever they argue.
Over time Oliver has developed a understandable hatred for his insufferable, bitch of a wife, he is always written off, underestimated, not appreciated, not respected, wanted or needed, so it's very much understandable that Oliver would murder his wife, Lydia and enact his most sick, sadistic, perverse, murderous fantasies and go on a murderous, killing spree and murder everyone that ever fucked with him, or fucked him over.
Anyone that deserved what was coming to them, that treated him like he is just a weak, chump, just a feeble old man with a hot, bitch of a wife.
They aren't in the best financial situation and the location of the Stop N' Go is another issue due to the less than savoury clientele that frequent the convenience store.
Angel Rodriguez the Mexican gangbanger, the racist Officer Logan Thomas seem like good candidates for Oliver to torture and murder for his own sick amusement and sadistic pleasure.
This book is helpful to read whether you are newer to practicing witchcraft or more experienced and knowledgeable.
It's good to know and understand what is considered to be a genuine psychic, spiritual, occult related magickal attack, or when any type of witch, magician, occultist has sent energy to you to harm you on purpose & when it is simply paranoia, mental illness or spiritual psychosis.
The author is male, but in my opinion it would have been helpful if the author included a female Witch's perspective in the book.
The author is well known to witches, a lot of witches are familiar with their written work, so I know their knowledge, experience with witchcraft is trustworthy and a good source of information to rely on.
I like and appreciate that the author has been taught by various types of witches, sorcerers, Occultists about their spiritual path, spiritual & occult beliefs and practices since I have eclectic beliefs so this resonates with me.
I obviously respect that there are closed practices and this should be mentioned in any book about witchcraft, some spiritual, occult paths, especially the Left Hand Path, or spiritual spiritual paths require you to be initiated, taught by a practitioner of that specific spiritual, or occult path.
I like that the book is dedicated to the Goddess Hekate & the Law Papa Legba.
I have felt drawn to working with the Goddess Hekate & other dark Goddesses for a long time.
It isn't mentioned however until page 125 though that invoking spirits can be potentially dangerous if you don't know how to protect your energy, or you're inexperienced and don't know what you are doing, so I think this should have been explained sooner in the book, but that's just my opinion.
The author didn't explain if it is safe to invoke spirits that were directly gifted to him personally from the Goddess Hekate if you are an inexperienced witch, or you haven't yet created a strong bond/connection to Hekate if you invoke protective spirits associated with the Goddess Hekate.
Some of the rituals seem a bit complicated or long winded and very repetitive, so it would have been nice if there were a few examples that were simple for novice witches to practice & more advanced spells and rituals for the more experienced witches.
Other than information about the Goddess Hekate there was really much about Pagan witches, it would have been nice if Pagan practices was included.
I don't practice closed practices, so any information about Hoodoo & Vodou is interesting but doesn't resonate with me.
The notes could have been included in the new edition commentary at the end of each chapter, it would have been helpful to have a in-depth explanation of the various types, methods of protection & counter-magick the author has written about while reading the chapters in the book.
Overall I think this is a necessary book for all witches, that are male & female to read, it is helpful information.
I'm not experienced with practicing witchcraft myself, I still need to study and practice protecting my energy, creating wards, invoking protective spirits.
It is good that the author is mindful of not always including rituals that some people would abuse, and use against innocent people.
Everyone should be mindful or anyone that is constantly thinking/believing they are under spiritual attack, spiritual psychosis and mental illness should be taken seriously and professional help is needed in that specific scenario, situation.
All seek professional help if/when it is required.
As the phrase is quoted “Mundane before magick”
My review is for the eBook.
I've always loved & felt drawn to the Greek Gods, Goddesses & Demi-Gods.
I kinda hate how oversimplified this book is written but maybe it was intended for children to read?
I like the illustrations in this eBook of the Greek Deities.
The author seems to gloss over the fact that Demi-Gods-the child of a mortal & a Greek Deity existed, plus I don't like that some non-human beings in Greek Mythology, folklore are automatically described as a “monster” because this implies that they are automatically evil, which doesn't always apply to various beings in Greek Mythology, folklore Medusa is a good example of that, I also don't think the Minotaur in the middle of the labyrinth was evil either.
Describing the so-called “monsters” of Greek mythology & folklore as a non-human or a human-animal hybrids would be more accurate in my opinion.
Hades was tricked into becoming the ruler of the realm of the dead & hell (Tartarus) he isn't always as respected as some of the more well-known Greek Gods & Goddesses (in my opinion)
Hades isn't as problematic and hasn't really done a lot of questionable things like some of the more well-known Greek Deities have done.
Persephone & Hekate are both Chthonic (Underworld) Goddesses.
Hekate isn't Greek in her origin, she is associated with Lagina, Turkey and various countries, but she is still associated with Greek deities, Greek mythology & folklore.
It's a bit shocking to read about the in-depth questionable incestuous, familial relationships, the Greek Deities had & interactions between some of the Greek Deities and mortals, but I already know a lot about Greek mythology and folklore, but it's interesting to read about.
I'm not sure why the author keeps reffering to Disney films about the Greek Deities when they aren't exactly accurate of the Deities. The author even says the way Zeus is portrayed is not really accurate.
I much prefer accurate portrayals of Greek Deities/other Deities, their mythology & folklore.
Heracles, Perseus, Spartacus are some of my favourites. Demi-Gods and mortal heros are just as siginificant and interesting as the Greek Gods & Goddesses.
Not everyone's knowledge of Greek mythology & folklore is due to only watching Disney films
I own a physical copy of the book so my review is for the paperback of the book.
This book contains short excepts about various types of hauntings, including some occult related haunted locations and the spooky occurrences there.
The Crescent Hotel, is infamous now due to the celebrities that stayed at the Hotel but also due to the dark history of when the building was a hospital for patients that had cancer.
Dr. Baker was quite insidious and evil in my opinion, due to him giving false hope to people that had cancer, & would be willing to believe anything to cure their cancer, but there was no miraculous cure, he deceived the patients, experimented on them, which sadly lead to their deaths.
I believe the patients are now vengeful spirits, and rightfully so, they were lied to, deceived in the most treacherous manner.
There is a Ghost Adventures episode about the Hotel, jars that contained preserved organs in them were found, from the hospital ward.
I've never heard of a ship called HMS Arrogant before and I think it's a bit foolish to name a ship after a Greek Deity unless you have a strong connection/bond with them, otherwise their voyages were doomed from the start.
I've always been fascinated by ghost ships, pirates, smugglers.
Seeing a ghost ship would be creepy.
It reminds me of Bram Stoker's Dracula, the ship Dracula travelled on to Whitby & London was named after the Greek Goddess Demeter, the voyage was cursed so i've always wanted to know if Bram Stoker was interested in mythology, folklore and if he spoke to a Folklorist that inspired his imagination, when he wrote Dracula in 1897.
It sounds like Maria Charlotte Roux was a somewhat vengeful spirit, after she died and she was heartbroken that Giel seemed to more on quickly after her death & burial, by getting remarried a year later. Even in death spirits feel emotional pain, heartbreak, it's sad.
I like how unique, creepy & interesting Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish mythology & folklore is & their pantheons of Deities are really interesting as well.
The information in each except in the book is interesting but very basic information and a little bit vague, if you do your own in-depth research you can find out more information about anything mentioned in this book.
Some of my favourite hauntings mentioned in the book:
The Bell Witch
The Black-Eyed Children
The Strange & Unexplained Death of Elisa Lam
(it wasn't suicide)
The Dyatlov Pass Incident (Russia)
The Lost English Colony-(Roanoke)
Hoia Baciu-“The Shepard's Forest” (Romanian Forest)
The Villisca Axe Murder House
The Kasha (Japanese Yokai in Hawaii)
Will the Blacksmith
Ghouls (Islamic in origin)
Japanese Urban Legends-“Teke Teke”
Kitsune Tsukai
Wolpertinger
The Awful (a Griffin-like type of animal of unknown origin/species)
The Deer Woman (Native American/Indigenous)
Skinwalkers
The first chapter is about various hauntings but none of them so far are related to the occult which is why I purchased the book in the first place, due to being interested in places that have occult history.
The circumstances related to the entire family & two friends of the one of the Moore family children is disturbing, gruesome and very sad.
Some of the details related to the killer are strange- a slab of bacon that was left near the bloody axe that belonged to Josiah used to murder 6 people, cigarette butts that were found in the basement where the killer was waiting for the unsuspecting victims to fall asleep.
The fact that a known German serial killer that murdered 59 people in the same manner as the Villisca Axe murders wasn't more thoroughly investigated is suspicious.
I hope one day these murders will be conclusively solved.
I look forward to reading the other chapters about unexplained deaths, cryptozoology, witchcraft, and the occult.
The haunting in Hawaii that involves a shapeshifting Kasha, which in my opinion is a Yokai (a type of Japanese demon) has always been really interesting to me, it's one of my favourites.
I love Japanese mythology and folklore.
Shintoism & Buddhism is interesting & unique.
In my opinion I think the black-eyed children are Vampiric, demons that have to be invited in, then they cause chaos, misfortune, unexplained and serious illness of anyone that invites them in.
Their eyes are completely black, demons are known to appear as children to lure people into a false sense of security, they appear innocent to gain your trust.
Why did the cats disappear?
Did the black-eyed children drink the blood of the cats?
There are various stories about people that helped the black-eyed children, they felt sorry for them due to them appearing as children, but then they were diagnosed with cancer.
Form your own opinion about what you think they are, since they are not what they seem, they are evil.
Post mortem photography and photographs of ghosts/spirits in the 19th century has always been interesting to me, but it's sad that for some people the only photograph they had of their children or family members was taken with their corpse in the photograph. It's a little bit creepy.
I liked the short except about Will the blacksmith, he is a quite evil person and enjoyed luring his unsuspecting victims to their doom, to their deaths.
I liked reading about all the creepy variations of Will the blacksmith, the Will-O'-Wisp and similar frightening and creepy beings, spirits or entities are are as equally as evil and sinister in their intentions as Will the blacksmith.
Stingy Jack associated with Jack-O-Lantern's is interesting as well.
Raynham Hall & Hampton Court are infamous and quite haunted, there is a fascinating clip on YouTube of a well dressed spirit opening a door at Hampton Court they are wearing old fashioned clothing, but it's not known who the spirit is.
Ghouls that exist in cemeteries feasting on the dead and the mourners have always been creepy but fascinating to me. There isn't always a lot of information about ghouls though.
One of my favourite Japanese Urban Legends is “Teke Teke”
It's creepy how Kashima Reiko died & the fact that she crawls around on the ground with half of her body which makes the “Teke Teke” sound. The creepiest aspect of the “Teke Teke” legend though is the fact that Kashima Reiko carries a scythe so she can cut the legs off the bodies of her victims.
I know of a supernatural ritual to summon a spirit known as Hanako-San but she died in a bathtub, which is different to the girls school bathroom related legend.
Creepy Japanese Urban Legends are my favourite type of Urban Legends.
I don't think the unexplained mysterious murder of Jeanette DePalma has anything to do with the occult, some of the evidence is circumstantial, the murderer could have knowledge of the occult/witchcraft, but due to a lot over hyped speculation about possible links to the occult and her murder supposedly being a occult murder it just distracts people from the genuine truth.
Jeanette DePalma was sadly murdered for unknown reasons, her murder may or may not be connected or associated with the occult, but in my opinion it doesn't help that there is a lot of speculation, rumours, theories when no one really knows the truth.
I hope that one day her murder will be conclusively solved and Jeanette DePalma will finally receive the justice she deserves.
The Sigbin is the most evil, creepy and disturbing cryptid being that I have ever read about.
There is a book about the Villisca Axe Murder House & Dead Mountain which is about the Dyatlov Pass Incident that I recommend as further reading since both are interesting & unsolved.
I like a lot of the unexplained, unsolved & creepy excerpts about strange, creepy cryptids, other types of beings that are of unknown origin & species.
It's unknown where some of the cryptids came from and why they are where they were encountered & seen.
The Awful was creepy & interesting to read about, due to the menacing presence of the cryptids, the unknown origin of it and not knowing it's intentions or what it wanted must have been scary for the people that experienced encountering the cryptid.
A Skinwalkers is a shapeshifting witch that wears animal pelt, so they can shapeshift into the form of that animal and adopt the traits of the animal.
They mimic humans that they murdered, they mimic their last moments alive, when the victim was terrified and asking for help.
Shamans & medicine men & women are the healers of the tribes but the Skinwalkers practice dark magick and they are the complete opposite of the Shamans-(they astral project & help people with spiritual attachments, spiritual sickness in the astral realm), medicine men & women.
This is one of the creepy aspects of Skinwalkers, mimicking humans to lure you into helping them, but they are otherworldly, disturbing and creepy
It is a Navajo & Algonquin belief and they don't talk about them, because it brings the skin walker closer to them, since they practice dark magick & they are known to be harmful, and potentially kill animals and people, most Native people do whatever they can to stay away from Skinwalkers.
For clarification a Wendigo is different, this being is usually associated with famine, starvation and cannibalism.
If you consume the heart of your loved one, then you become a Wendigo, forever cursed to consume human flesh but never being satiated.
The term Wendigo psychosis was created to describe a mental illness related to Native American beliefs.
There is a infamous story about a man in a cabin with his family, he had enough supplies to feed himself & his family, but he murdered and cannibalized his whole family. He became a Wendigo.
The author seems to misunderstand how tarot cards are used or why they are used.
A tarot card reader, reads the energy of the people that asked a specific question that can be answered via the tarot cards, they read the energy of what happened in the past, the present-what is currently happening in their life & what could potentially happen in the future, but they can't change anyone's future, including their own.
They can only read the person's energy, and divine the answers the person seeks about the current outcome related to whatever they asked about or a potential outcome related to what was asked about that may or may not happen in the future, but it's not set in stone, it's one variable among many possibilities.
There are various types of divination and tarot cards are one of many methods of divination.
I liked reading this book, but there was a lot of information I already knew except a few exceptions about Finnish & Swedish mythology, folklore etc..
If you didn't already know about what the author has written about it might be interesting to you, however if you already know, it's just more of the same regurgitated information that probably exists in various books about the hauntings, the paranormal, the occult.
My review is for the eBook on Kindle Unlimited.
The St. Nicholas church in Prague that has a baroque, medieval style sounds really lovely.
It's sad that Isabella & Antonin's relationshp was severed by his unexpected death due to some of the stones in the bell tower that fell onto Antonin and sadly killed him, but there's not much informaton about what happened to Isabella.
How did Isabella die? What happened to Isabella after her fiance died accidentally?
Isabella is a mournful, potentially a vengeful spirit, due to her understandable grief and pain, it's sad that human spirits still linger and suffer in the afterlife, she has the right to move on and to be happy.
For the Lucedio Abbey haunting the author originally described the sighting of a specific monk at the abbey as a entity but then he keeps referring to the entity as a vengeful spirit (a human spirit that is a vengeful spirit and a entity are not the same thing)
A entity is not human, they can be a shapeshifter, or take the form of a animal or a human-animal hybrid.
There are otherworldly beings that can be potentially harmful in various contexts, they can be powerful, hard to banish especially if they are attachd to a person.
It's just a pet peeve of mine for the author to label a being as a entity and as a vengeful spirit when they are not the same thing.
It can't be both, it's one or the other.
The 1000 year old church was really interesting to read about, I liked the creepy descriptions of the creepy encounters people had in crypts, vaults, catacombs when they encountered inexplicable apparitions of spirits, entities, vengeful spirits and potentially harmful spirits that had the intention to physically harm the living.
It's really sad that there were various spirits that suffered a lot while they were alive and there is no closure or relief for them in the afterlife as well due to the spirit of their abusive family members. The mournful, vengeful spirits need help to move on and to be happy.
I like Lee Brickley's books about the paranormal but he has a annoying habit of repeatedly using repetitive phrases, repetitive explanations for why the churches, sacred places are haunted.
Evey time a narrow-minded, cynical, unimaginative, non-believer that is a sceptic tries to supposedly “rationally explain” inexplicable paranormal activity their so-called explanations always seem weak and they never fully explain what various people have encountered, experienced that defies explanation due to it being paranormal. Various things aren't fully explained such why someone suddenly feels like they are being watched, or they are hearing spirits speaking either directly or indirectly to them, seeinh shadow people, fully apparitions, anguished vengeful spirits that could be potentially harmful, or encountering entities, demons, elementals that aren't human, they are interdimensional beings that exist in various realms and they travel through portals.
The author doesn't take into consideration what the land was originally used for, he doesn't seem to think or believe that the land itself could be cursed, it's imbued with a lot of energy, bloodshed, war, battles, massacres, witch hunts for centuries.
There maybe leylines within the earth, there maybe high levels of electromagnetic energy (this type of energy, gives you the creepy, eerie feeling of feeling the presence of a spirit around you, but other expkanations would be intuition, psychic/intuitive abilities, sensitivity to the presence/energy of spirits and spiritual discernment) and there may also be portals in or around the churches.
Obviously I don't blindly believe that everything is automatically paranormal, some things can be debunked but that doesn't mean that what a person has encountered or experienced is automatically invalid, not believable either.
Some people have a stronger intuition, a stronger sensitivity a stronger spiritual discernment of various types of spirits, entities, beings, Deities, cryptids that exist within the spiritual & astral realms, but even when some people experience encountering spirits they still deny their existence and are in denial about what they experienced because they don't want to admit that it's real.
Beyond reasonable doubt, mental illness, environmental factors such as high levels of electromagnetic energy, there may be leylines within the earth, portals that may have been opened for various reasons & purposes-sometimes this is related to a elemental which is made of a element of nature-(Earth, air, fire, water) when something within nature has been disturbed, it could piss off a elemental, because some people don't respect Gaia (Mother Nature)
I really hate how Christians historically hated & feared Norse Pagans and they built their Christian church over the Norse Church & the Ancient Temple for the Roman Goddess Diana.
Why did Christians try to attempt to erase the sacred places of worship for Norse and Hellenic Pagans and anything related to the Norse & Greek pantheons?
Why did Christians want to erase, disguise or destroy historically significant Norse & Greek Temples, Churches or sacred places of worship just because they believed their religion was the only religion that mattered?
I own a copy of the book that I am reviewing.
This book is about the French Baron, Marshal of France in the (15th century)-Gilles de Rais, it explains historical information about who Gilles de Rais was, which I already knew about since I am very interested in medieval serial killers.
I already know a lot about Gilles de Rais, but it's still interesting to read about them in-depth, historical detail.
I've already read The Black Baron about Gilles de Rais, I also intend to read the Trial of Gilles de Rais.
Since Gilles de Rais was the marshal of France, some people believe that he was a scapegoat, a prime target to blame for horrific, satanic crimes, heresy, blasphemy due to him being nobility and the peasantry or other nobles didn't like or approve of him so they had the intention to ruin the reputation of Gilles de Rais on purpose.
There is some evidence to prove that he may have been innocent so it would be interesting if this is ever conclusively solved or proved.
There are various contradictory things about Gilles de Rais, his behaviour, mindset, mentality, perception of his role as a Baron & the Marshall of France.
He is quite arrogant, narcissistic to think & believe that he will gain any type of forgiveness, pardon for his disturbing and horrific, sadistic crimes.
He truly believed that if he just showed remorse, gained sympathy from the peasantry-whose children he kidnapped, lured & was sexually motivated to sexually torture, murdered & sacrificed their children for his sick, sadistic, sexual gratification if he proved to God that he was sorry for what he did he would be pardoned and not executed.
However he wasn't the only person that murdered children his family members, friends, servants were involved, so rightfully so they were also executed for being guilty by association, as Gilles de Rais accomplices.
It really disgusts me, how Gilles de Rais is described as a so-called “
My review is for the eBook.
There are various stories in this eBook about a infamous place in Staffordshire, England known as Cannock Chase.
If your from England or British it's likely you would have heard of Cannock Chase if ypu are interested in the paranormal, cryptids, unexplained spooky encounters people had with spirits, entities, other beings.
I really like the short story format for this book & other books written by Lee Brickley, his books are always interesting to read.
I like the story about the failed actor, the description of the male spirit absorbing energy from the whole building he was in and shaking the entire foundation of the building & surrounding area was really interesting, the male spirit has a strong will, his energy & presence is strongly felt, observed, physically manifested in the theatre that he chooses to stay in.
T story about he black-eyed child seen in the forest was creepy, it had unknown intentions, if I saw a black-eyed child it would really creep me out, in my opinion the black-eyed children are demonic vampires, interdimensional entities/beings, demonic in nature or intentions, since vampires & demons have to be invited in and they only have power, control, ominion over you if you allow that, or they can attach themselves to your physical body, energy or aura so they siphon and drain your energy & lifeforce over time until you die.
The Shoal Hill house haunting is interesting, i'm curious about what the labd was originally used for, before the big house was built on the land, if there are and leylines-(a natural source of energy that exists within the earth) the mysterious disappearance of the priest is puzzling, he may or may not have actually existed or he was a spirit himself.
I want to know what book from the bookshelf was thrown at the priest that knocked him unconscious, why did he also disappear like he never physically existed?
Was a demon or a entity haunting the house & why did it physically manifest itself in the bedroom of two six-year old children?
The way the young child described the demonic being sounds like it is a high ranking demonic entity-some manifest themselves & show themselves as a shadow person with red glowing eyes.
The creepiest unexplained, spooky encounters people have had, is definitely when they encountered the smiling man entity, it has a strange aura, a disturbing long-term affect on anyone that is unfortunate enough to encounter the smiling man.
The very vivid and disturbing descriptions of the smiling man are quite creepy- “the crazed look in his eyes, the manical smile or grin on his face” the disturbing movement of the smiling man's head is very disturbing, there is something unnatural, otherworldly and very creepy about the smiling man entity.
The way people describe the behaviou of the smiling man makes it seem like he is a psychopath, a murderer or serial killer he just has that type of dark and sinister vibe, he has unknown origins and unknown intentions as well.
The description of the black doorway appearing out of nowhere or the smiling man compketing disappearing without a trace in fron of somone's eyes is puzzling, the doorway sounds like a portal to me.
It really creeps me out though the way he just physically manifests himself & then disappears at will , in front of people's eyes in real-time, multiple people have seen the smiling man, so they didn't collectivelly imagine the smiling man, however the smiling man would gain notoriety, attention, energy from people that fear him, or fear the unknown as well so in that context the smiling man becomes a Tulpa in a similar context to Slenderman, but they aren't exactly the same type of entity or being since Slenderman is a fictional Creepypasta character that isn't real despite what some people may choose to believe.
I liked the disturbing, very detailed explanations of some of the more disturbing and violent encounters with spirits people had with spirits, entities or beings that have unknown origin or unknown intentions.
The smiling man, was my favourite story.
If you like reading about disturbing, creepy, ubexplained encounters people had wirh spirits, entities, beings then I reccomend any books by Lee Brickley.
My review is for the eBook.
This Splatterpunk anthology has short stories written by various authors.
This is just my opinion about some Splatterpunk & Extreme horror books, eBooks, I don't think it's always necessary for any short stories, novellas, that are the Splatterpunk & Extreme Horror genre to have themes/scenes of domestic violence, sexism, misogyny, rape or animal torture/abuse & cruelty/murder of animals.
My review is for the physical copy of this book.
Short stories written by Aron Beauregard.
I like the gory book cover art for Aron Beauregard's books.
I like his writing style, vivid, disturbing, disgusting, macabre and brutal imagination.
I like Aron Beauregard's grotesque, very vivid, imaginative, graphically detailed, gory, fucked up books.
I like fictional brutality, fictional psychopaths, sadists doing disturbing, macabre, creepy, fucked up shit to their victims, but I understand why some readers would question the morality, mental health of the writers after reading extreme horror & splatterpunk books, but they are fictional, it's understandable that some readers think wtf did I just read?
The Cuck
My review is for a physical copy of the book that I own.
I like that the main characters are British, i'm British so it's relatable.
We call people “Mate” in England when we don't like someone, or have a disagreement with anyone. It's a common phrase.
It's used in a friendly banter context as well.
The alcohol consumption emboldens both the men and makes them feel empowered, they want to punch/beat up the bartender, but they would probably get their arses kicked by the bartender
My review is for the eBook.
The Beasts of Satan are a group of young, Italians that were a group of friends in the metal band The Beasts of Satan, in my opinion they were Satanists, they were interested in Satanism and the occult but nothing the did was Satanic.
Satanism and the beluef & worship of demons has existed for centuries, there were Satanists at Versaills in 17th century France, people sacrificed children to Moloch etc..
Charles Manson and his “Family” cult weren't Satanic and notjing they did had any connection to the occult at all, Charles Manson believed in and wanted to start a race-war between white and black people.
He told his followers to make the murders “look witchy” but nothing about what he or his loyal followers in his cult did was Satanic or involved the occult.
The drug cartel Adolpho De Jesus Constanzo wasn't a Satanist either, Palo Myombe is African in it's origin and involves human sacrifice but that doesn't make it Satanic because Satanists respect animals and human lives/human rights.
Satanists don't kill animals or people, they don't torture, maim, mutilate, rape, murder, cannibalize or consume the blood of animals, babies, children, pregnant wonen, virgins ever, anyone that does this as a solitary Satanist or Occultist or as a coven of Satanoc witches or Occultists are Devil-Worshippers they are edgy, delusional loners, losers that are attention seeking morons.
They aren't recognized by The Satanic Church or Satanic Temple as a genuine Satanist, since genuine Satanists don't commit heinous, disgusting, depraved, disturbing crimes, ritualistic murders, or sacrifice humans and aninals at all, ever!
I'm so tired of this trope about how Satanism, Satanists, Occultists, Witches or witchcraft the occult, spirituality or alternative beliefs/alternative spiritual practices that involves witchcraft is portrayed, because it's offensive, insensitive, totally inaccurate.
Most people that judge & shame people for having alternative beliefs, spiritual practices and they are spiritual, practice witchcraft, or they are a Satanist, or a Occultist, have no idea what they are talking about hence why everything that is alternative, different from the norm for any spiritual belief/spiritual practice that is alternative is automatically labelled as “evil” supposedly “Satanic” when it isn't.
Do research before you mislabel something if you're a author and don't know what your talking about.
Women & men were accused of being a witch during the witch trails which hapoened in various countries since witchces have existed since the 14th century.
The Witch Trials didn't just happen in America and anyone that has took the time to actually educate themselves about the history of witchcrat and female & male Witchces and Warlocks would know that
My review is for the eBook.
Death is not the end.
I won't go into detail, or explain how/why I know that it is possible to have sex with spirits, entities, devils, demons, but I know from experience that it is real I also know from experiencing it that it is very pleasurable.
Astral sex is also fun & pleasurable, if you know how to astral project, lucid dream, then you could have some fun with consenting people obviously.
It's sad that Frank died at a young age from a hereditary illness and he died in the same apartment that the woman is currently living in.
I don't understand why the author kept referring to the woman as a “young girl” like they are a teenager or a child when they are a 24-year-old woman.
There is a woman married the spirit of a pirate, but i'm not sure if they are legally married.
Ghost marriage is a spiritual practice in specific countries already.
people need to be careful, if they are spiritually awakening and opening themselves up to the spiritual realm, especially in a sexual context in the spiritual realm, they could be taken advantage of, used for their energy/have their energy drained or attract a attachment from a spirit, entity, demon, or being that is draining/feeding on their energy.
Always use your spiritual discernment, be selective of who/what you trust and give your consent, energy to.
The story about Graham/Alwyn and Caitrin Hughes is more than just Deja-Vu that Graham was experiencing, the place in Wales was very familiar to him even though he has never been there before because he lived there in a past life.
Graham and his wife are past life soulmates, they always will be.
I am happy that Graham and other people mentioned in this book were able to reunite with their passed loved ones, their past-life soulmate, or they have a loving, but also a sexual relationship with a spirit, their spectral companion.
This was a interesting book to read, it gives me comfort to know that love transcends time, space various realms, dimensions so you could find your past-life lover, or discover who you were in a past life, develop a genuine bond/connection with a spirit and have a loving or sexual relationship with a spirit, entity, devil, demon or other type of being.
My favourite stories were about the student visited by the spirit at 3am, the various stories about mediums, the Salem witch and her black cat named Jinx, the past-life lovers, the man discovering his past-life and finding his past-life wife was really interesting, the story about the postcards being inexplicably being sent to the woman wassad, but also interesting.
Death is not the end.
This book is about modern Vampires (Sanguinarian, Psychic Vampires) that are murderers & cannibals & committed crimes/murders.
The woman on the cover of the book is a German woman named Manuela Ruda she is a Sanguinarian Vampire/a Satanist and she sacrificed a man with her husband at the time Daniel Ruda (they are divorced)
They were both a Sanguinarian Vampire & a Satanist that believed if they sacrificed someone to Satan that it would please them.
Both lived a alternative, Goth/Satanist lifestyle, they slept in a coffin & drank human blood.
Both are delusional & mentally ill, a lot of people mentioned in the book will fit that category.
There is a mental illness known as Clinical Vampirism
(A.K.A Renfield's Syndrome) and it involves people believing they are a Vampire & need to consume blood to survive.
They are obsessed & addicted to drinking human/animal blood.
The mental illness called Cotard's Syndrome that involves people that believe they are already dying, dead & decaying despite still being alive, or that they don't exist it's bizarre.
The medical condition Porphyria a rare blood disorder that affects the skin, digestion, make the skin very sensitive to sunlight & that involves people needing to drink blood of animals like pig's blood.
There is no benefit to drinking human blood, however blood contains energy, the lifeforce of a person, in a spiritual way blood is powerful, the essence of a person and it can be used for the purpose of witchcraft.
Cotard's syndrome- People appear dead but are actually still alive, their heartbeat becomes very slow, barely noticeable & they are buried alive which is terrifying.
Clinical Vampirism & Clinical Lycanthropy isn't talked about much, nor is the clinical/psychiatric or spiritual aspect of Vampirism, Lycanthropy or Cannibalism.
There hasn't really been a clinical/psychiatric analysis of Cannibalism, the spiritual aspect of it or any type of analysis of Cannibalistic murders/occult crimes. Some Cannibals consume the brain of a Cannibalized corpse which leads to them contracting a disease called “Kuru” which is fatal within 2 years & it's similar to Mad-Cow disease.
This is the only book that has mentioned Clinical Vampirism, mental illnesses & delusions some people have about being a Vampire a blood-fetish, obsession or need/urge to drink human/animal blood or cannibalize human beings.
People are delusional, a narcissistic, attention-seeking, pathological liar that would say/do anything to impress people or to brag.
Satanists practice Ceremonial, Solomonic or Goetic magick, they develop a bond/connection with overtime with the devils, demons, entities, spirits, beings that they invoke.
Devil-worshippers automatically assume everything they think they know about Satanism is in films, music, books (it depends on the books, grimoires) that they read, or that just because they own the Satanic Bible & they claim to be a “
My review will be for the paperback version of the book.
I'm British I live in a town that's 50 miles away from London so i'm very familiar with the HIghgate Vampire, i've always loved British mythology & folklore so this book will be interesting to read. The perfect book for the spooky season.
Black Shuck is one of my favourites spectral hellhound legends of England.
Black Shuck is a spectral hellhound, a messenger of death, a omen of death and a soul collector that has been seen in various rural areas of England, it has a large dog/wolf-life appearance and some of the most memorable aspects of is are it's glowing eyes which are usually red or green, the otherworldly, creepy vibe and energy/presence it has whenever people see it.
Various people have had various types of creepy, frightening, unexplained, weird paranormal encounters with Black Shuck so every encounter is different.
The infamous Legend of Black Shuck has many variations, i've haven't or read about a encounter with Black Shuck that had a singular glowing eye, without a head or the scorch marks on the Blythburgh Church that it was prevented from entering before, so that's interesting.
A new variation to the Legend of Black Shuck-everyone that sees and witnesses the Hellhound with have some type of tragedy or death occur in their life, either their own death or the death of a family member, if you see Black Shuck yourself it is a messenger of death & omen of death, Black Shuck is a Hellhound, a Soul collector on behalf of the Devil.
There are various types of spirits, beings, entities in mythology & folklore that are a omen of death, a soul collector.
This is why the woman that Saw Black Shuck with one glowing eye, inexplicable died in her sleep, it collected her soul.
The gory description of Black Shuck ripping people to shreds, tearing off their limbs was really awesome to read.
It does seem like Black Shuck is a guardian of the areas of land where it roams, it is ferocious and wouldn't think twice about going for your jugular and ripping your throat out.
British mythology, folklore is lesser known to most people but it's varied and interesting lore of England.
I've never read about a group of beavers (whatever that's called) protecting and rescuing a person from drowning and anointing their leader as a Bishop of Babingley, it was bizarre and funny to read.
I haven't heard of read of anyone seeing sightings of Oliver Cromwell either which is interesting.
I like the artwork that is in the book, I like that there is a mixture of mythology, folklore and history of various places in England, it's interesting to read.
What happened to Oliver Cromwell's head was creepy.
I like that this book had various mythology/folklore that might to known to some people but it was unknown to me, because I don't live in a rural part of England.
The legend of the witch being accused of witchcraft, tortured and burnt at the stake then a tree grew from her wooden leg and destroyed the monastery is really interesting.
St John's church sounds similar to St. Mary's Church in Clophill where the graves of only women were desecrated, their toe bones were taken, the human remains of only women were used in necromantic rituals in the cemetery.
Animals were sacrificed or offered to whatever was invoked on a full moon, the same skeletal remains of the same woman was used in rituals at the cemetery every time there was a full moon.
I already knew about the legend of Black Shuck, it was fun to read about the creepy encounters people had with the spectral hellhound, or sometimes people saw it as a real, breathing, living creature.
The Wild Hunt of the Barbarians is interesting, i've not heard/read about any Barbarian sightings in England before.
The description of the floating mass of energy called the hateful thing was interesting, it would be difficult to say what exactly it is unless you witness it yourself.
If your interested in British mythology, folklore, places that have occult history, that are haunted where there have been many various types of sightings of various types of beings, spirits, devils, demons, witches then you'll like this book.
This book was fun to read and i'm glad I bought a physical copy of it.
I've grown up to be a spiritual & open-minded about the occult/witchcraft & I have alternative beliefs, I believe the Occult/witchcraft is real, I absolutely love vampires, I love various types of metal music, horror films, the horror genre in general so I don't understand what exactly a Fundamentalist Christian is.
I disagree with what people in general believe to be “evil” at least from the perspective of people in the 1980's or a fear mongering Christian's perspective/point of view.
Demons are neutral, not all demons care about humanity, some hate humanity.
It depends o your intention, what you want to achieve with the left-hand path, with witchcraft, what you want to achieve spiritually. Demons can be helpful, if you are respectful to them, loyal to them.
I've never been baptised, or gone to church, read the Christian Bible so I think it's quite easy for anyone that's Christian/religious to demonize something/someone that you have no idea about and don't understand, at least do some research before you condemn something other people enjoy, appreciate or are entertained by.
It's disrespectful to discredit, condemn, belittle, bowdlerize alternative religions/beliefs just because Christianity is a monotheistic religion ad alternative religions/beliefs and polytheistic religions/beliefs. Christians in my opinion are spiritual narcissists:
(The belief that your spiritual wisdom makes you more special than others.
It can be used to shield yourself from criticism, to impress others, or to enhance your-self-esteem and make you feel good about yourself.)
For example not all goths, or metalheads are in a vampire cult/satanic cult, are a satanist just because they love horror films, heavy metal/death metal bands or bands that use vampiric and satanic imagery, or are interested in the occult/witchcraft.
The same applies to horror films, books about vampires or the occult (especially the Satanic Bible is wasn't intended to be taken seriously, unless you are serious about being a satanist and want to join to the Church of Satan, The Temple of Set)
Animals are also never harmed, rape or abuse of any kind is prohibited, any member of the church of satan would be banned if they were discovered to be a child molestor.
Satanic witches only use a person's body as a symbolic altar,
(no human baby or virgins are ever sacrificed unless the person is a devil worshipper or they practise black magic and they are trying to achieve something specific like a curse, to summon a demon, curse someone etc..)
There is a big difference between edgy people that are a Devil-worshipper due to them thinking it is aesthetically cool/edgy and genuine Satanists
(most of them are a atheist and don't believe that Satan or Lucifer are a real celestial, fallen angel/powerful interdimensional supernatural entity/Demonic being or that they even exist)
“Michelle remembers” This “supposed” account of satanic ritualistic sexual abuse of a 5 year female child only resulted in a patient having a inappropriate relationship with her doctor.
Regression therapy or whatever the name of it was at the time helped to create false memories of events that never happened.
There is a film about this exact subject, regression therapy was eventually dismissed due to it not be a trustworthy form of therapy for victims of abuse.
Erotic horror books by Russ Martin, were controversial for the time that they were published due to the mix of sex & the occult.
At the time Rosemary's bay was released, as well as the exorcist more people were becoming interested in satanism, the occult or believed that demons or possession was real, so if they watched the film it would physically affect them which is really dumb by today's standards.
I have never played Dungeons & Dragons but I fail to see how it encourages anyone to want to engage in anything involving the occult, anything related to sex, drugs, alcohol, violence just because they have played a fantasy based roleplaying tabletop board game.
The fundamentalist Christians that condemned a lot of nerdy, or very intelligent people for playing this game be cause they couldn't tell the difference between fantasy and reality is ridiculous.
Due to the influence of people like Geraldo Riviera, he believed that there was a
“underground secret network satanic cult” that was influencing young people through different forms of entertainment for example dungeons & dragons, music videos horror films etc..
Why isn't Lord of the rings the books or films and the PC not Diablo considered “satanic?”
Anything could be considered satanic just because of the imagery that is used, such as magic, vampires and other supernatural creatures, occult symbols, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it is satanic just because a book, film CD/vinyl, videogames contains these aspects.
From the point of view of fundamentalist Christians then is H.P. Lovecraft's work satanic then?
He interviewed Ozzy Osbourne, Zeena schreck (Anton LeVay's daughter) and other people about the “supposed satanic underground cult” but he was just speculating whatever he wanted to fit his agenda and use Satanism as a scapegoat for the main force that was corrupting your people in america at the time. Did any of the Christians ever play dungeons & dragons, or ask their children about it?
How can they know if dungeons & dragons is satanic (in their opinion) if they have never played the game? It is a fantasy game that's all it is, nothing more stone else that read too much into it was taking the game and the supposed “satanic panic” threat way to seriously!
A lot of content on television that was viewed offensive or supposedly satanic wasn't involving the occult so how is it satanic? I think the fundamentalist Christians, priests, evangelist's were just trying to control people by fear mongering them into believing that what they were saying was true, even though there was never any evidence to prove satanic ritualistic abuse was ever real.
Satanic films were made for entertainment, the same allies for any metal band using satanic imagery, it is for entertainment purposes only, some members in metal bands are real satanists but not all of them! It is very easy to assume things about something you don't understand, together caught up in mass hysteria, just because on person has claimed that there is a satanic cult(s) throughout America and young people are involved.
The “filthy 15” list of songs only contains songs that Christians were merely offended by, there aren't really any true metal bands that would have a deserved place on the list, which makes the whole this seem very trivial and stupid.
If bands like mayhem (a Norwegian black metal/death metal band) was included then I would understand because they had a very anti-Christian, pro-satan aesthetic/vibe to their music but the songs listed are not satanic, it is satanic imagery, occult imagery was used and they were offended by drug use and sex used in the music videos.
Did any of the Christians actually listen to any of the songs on the list? How can you condemn something if you have never even listened to it?
I agree that there should be wage rating for horror films, books, videogames, CD's but I don't agree with censorship of that particular entertainment content or Christians having the power to get something banned just they are offended by it (depending on what it is)
Ricky Lasso “the acid king” at the time was a 17 year drug dealer and self-professed satanist that accused his friend Gary Lauwers of stealing his drugs. He murdered his friend and forced him to declare “say you love satan” Instead he said “I love my mother” he repeatedly stabbed his friend 32 times and gouged out his eyes. He supposed stole two tabs of mescaline and didn't pay him back so he was furious, questioned his friend about the missing drugs and then murdered him.
After the murder he would return with his friend to show them what he did.
He later returned to show people what he did.
A lot of band's were Influenced by the murder and the strange behaviour of Ricky Lasso.
He hanged him before the motive for murder could be determined.
I don't agree with the accusatory, paranoid, suspicious,
fear-mongering Christians that think any film, music, books, videogames, board games that have Occult themes or even Satanic themes would make a person instantly become a vile, predatory, sadistic, Satanist, necrophile, cannibal, rapist, murderer or serial killer.
I agree that people can be influenced by a outside source but it usually happens if the person is already mentally ill, delusional or susceptible to being influenced by other people due to them being naive & too trusting of people with the worst intentions.
People that are disturbed mentally, emotionally and unstable mentally & emotionally are more likely to commit crimes such as kidnapping, torture, rape, murder, necrophilia, Vampirism, cannibalism & for there to be a Occult, Satanic or Esoteric theme or Occult elements that the crime(s) involve.
The people that are Devil-worshippers have probably had sick, disgusting & disturbing fantasies of committing horrific crimes as part of a Satanic ritual to appease Satan.
Either by themselves or with other people involved.
The Italian murderers “The Beasts of Satan” are a good example.
Some of them probably have some knowledge of Satanism if they read the Satanic Bible by Anton LeVay, however real Satanists don't sacrifice animals or people to Satan, blood would more likely be offered because it has power and energy within it, blood is your essence & lifeforce.
Magically & spiritually blood is a powerful in it's use for blood magick or blood sacrifice.
The Satanic Panic just shows that people will use anything to justify their beliefs, to create mass hysteria to make people unnecessarily panic for no apparent reason, other than to convert more people to Christianity because they are afraid of Demons or of going to hell.
The band Kiss is NOT Satanic, nor is their makeup anyone that thinks they are Satanic is in my opinion incredibly dumb.
What the hell does “hair-metal” “glam-metal” have to do with Metal music or the Satanic Panic, obviously they aren't Satanic it's a load of bollocks.
I'm surprised that bands like Venom (from England), Slayer, Cradle of Filth, Behemoth, Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, Mayhem haven't been mentioned so far due to being genuine metal bands that write music about demons, Satan, worshipping Satan & his Legion of demons, use of Satanic or demonic imagery & artwork for their albums, or promotion of their tours.
Their music is entertaining and I love it so much.
In my opinion it is really dumb, ridiculous what is considered to be Satanic/Demonic/Evil, or anything that Fundamentalist Christians have tried to prohibit, ban or censor because they are morally opposed or offended by it.
Swearing in music, the “Video Nasties” VHS tapes are good examples, but even specific books like Harry Potter were banned because the characters are witches.
There have been various murders that involved young, impressionable people, so Metal music, the “Video Nasties” or violent horror films such as the Child's Play series of films were blamed as something that influenced people to commit horrible murders.
In my personal opinion, if a person is already mentally defective, susceptible or prone to violence, naive, easily influenced, if they are already mentally ill, disturbed, emotionally or mentally unstable they are more likely to commit a crime anyway.
Watching a horror film once, being a horror fan, listening to Metal music or being interested in the Occult, Witchcraft, the paranormal won't instantly make you a murderer like Fundamentalist Christians seem to automatically, inaccurately or unfairly assume.
I grew up watching horror films, I love Metal music, i've always been interested in the Occult, Witchcraft, the paranormal, i've never hurt animal, never commited a crime. I never will.
If your not already mentally defective, most normal people will grew up to be a normal person, that loves horror, love Metal music, practice witchcraft and there's nothing wrong with that.
It's not hurting anyone!
I don't understand what Christian Metal bands has to do with the Satanic Panic, the only relevancy it has is to combat the supposed Satanic influence of Norwegian, Swedish Black Metal/Death Metal bands. I'm not really sure why Christian Metal bands were mentioned in the book, for some of the things mentioned in the book, I don't see how or why it is associated with the Satanic Panic, so I wish more relevant actually associated with the Satanic Panic were mentioned in the books such as the numerous supposedly “Satanic crimes/Occult crimes” that have happened, that would be a lot more relevant that saying about Christian Metal/Glam Metal bands.
Just because a band uses Satanic/Demonic imagery, themes or the lyrics are about Satan his legion of demons, it doesn't necessarily make it Satanic, unless the band members specifically say they are a Satanist, or they practice witchcraft in my opinion then it can be considered genuinely Satanic.
A good example would the British band Akercocke they are genuine Satanists, they respect & worship Satan. Nergal the singer of the band Behemoth is a genuine Satanist.
The same applies for any band that writes any factual song about a serial killer, it's not for the purpose of glamorising serial killers, or murder, or Satanism the songs about serial killers are just factual.
Metal music has never been about glamorising murder, serial killers, Satan, the occult/witchcraft, but most Goths/Metalheads are a horror fan, interested in true crime, or the occult/witchcraft/the paranormal.
The thrash metal band Slayer is not a Satanic band, despite what people try to claim about them, which is usually either inaccurate, incorrect and insulting since i've always been a fan of Slayer, it's sad they are no longer a band, but they have been a awesome Metal band since the year I was born 1987.
None of the band members think that Satan is real, they are not a Satanists, it's just laughable to me that Slayer, Slipknot or Cradle of Filth are labelled as Satanic.
It is at least understandable for Cradle of Filth to be labelled as Satanic/Demonic, due to the imagery, theme, style of music they write, the perversity of their music, but creating dark, Metal music of any genre of Metal about demons, Satan, belief/worship or about witchcraft/the occult in general doesn't really mean that the music created, the band or the band members are Satanic.
The aesthetic of metal, is the traditional “corpse paint” makeup style that Dead from Mayhem created, to portray the look of death, to embody the essence of death, darkness or Satan if you believe in Satan or respect Satan.
Body modification, tattoos/piercings are part of the metalhead aesthetic, a lot of metalheads wear their favourite Metal band t-shirts, black leather, patches that have their favourite bands on their denim jacket.
It's not just a aesthetic though, it is a mindset and way of life as well, I will always be a Goth/Metalhead, a spiritual & open-minded person.
A lot of metalheads are former Christians that wish to distance themselves from dogmatic, tyrannical oppressive, controlling Christian faith & distance themselves religious abuse, religious oppression, spiritual narcissism the mindless sheep that blindly follow or believe in God
(only believing in a monotheistic religion & condemning any Polytheistic alternative pantheon/belief system including practicing witchcraft and believing in various Gods & Goddesses Christians arrogantly believe that their religion above any other should be believed in or worshipped which is spiritual narcissism!)
Everyone has free will to believe/not believe in God, or to choose a alternative spiritual path that resonates with them specifically without any outside influence.
Do what feels right for you spiritually, it doesn't matter if people disagree, or judge you for your beliefs, your faith, devotion to, in your heart or soul a Deity would know your true intentions and that is what matters the most, so discover your ancestry, your origins & honour/respect it.
A lot of imagination, creativity, knowledge of history, time, effort went into creating the music, people don't seem to appreciate or respect that for some reason, the music created doesn't always reflect the actual spiritual beliefs of the band/band members, it's just a creative outlet for them to express themselves creatively with their music.
I think for badass metal music written by a Catholic, it is perfection, I especially love the album God hates us all, it's so relatable and i'm not even a Christian.
Metal music has always been and always will be about unity, comradery of outcasts, misfits, loners, people that don't fit in, that are not accepted by society for whatever reason, it is about rebellion, but also it is about rejecting conformity, being controlled, oppressed, against tyrannical Christian, religious abuse/brainwashing.
The Era of the Satanic Panic is nothing more than a moral panic/mass hysteria/fear mongering by Fundamentalist Christians which is ridiculous without ever discovering any real proof of Satanic Ritual Abuse.
Although crimes/murders that have Satanic or Occult themes/aspects doesn't necessarily make it a Satanic/Occult crime, it depends on the circumstances some people are mentally ill, delusional and will commit a crime related to their spiritual beliefs.
It's stupid, insanity & pathetic in my opinion absolute ridiculous nonsense with no proof of anything, just speculation, assumptions,
pre-judging people for being different, or unfairly, inaccurately judging people & accusing them of horrible crimes when they were innocent, it's absolutely disgusting that innocent people's lives or careers were ruined due to lies, misinformation and mass hysteria.
My review will be for the eBook.
I haven't read any books by this author before, but I want to read at least one Extreme Horror or Splatterpunk book by various authors to determines which authors I like and the style of writing I like for these types of books.
Trevor seems like a sleazy, impatient narcissist, with sinister intentions he also seems like he would be exploitative of his girlfriend Sally.
The author doesn't specify how old Trevor or Sally are, but Sally seems young, innocent and impressionable, especially due to having a curfew & a overprotective father.
Trevor seems like he is a bit older than Sally since he can buy alcohol so he seems like he is a adult I would say about 26 years old and Sally seems like she is about 16 or slightly younger, Trevor keeps calling Sally a kid which is creepy.
Trevor has already attempted to have sex with Sally and it seems like someone spiked her drink, while she was at the pub with her boyfriend Trevor.
He seems like the type of person that would be a human-trafficker, a rapist, a drug dealer, or the type of person that would make pornography, possibly pornography with underage girls that he deceived, love bombed, coerced, manipulated, drugged/raped.
DNF I don't like that this book is about a peadophile grooming a teenager, or other children of various ages only hanging around children so he can get what they want from them.
I don't want to read anymore of it, i'm not in anyway judging the author for what they write about, I might like some of their other books, but this book just isn't for me.
I don't want to read about fictional peadophiles, that groom children, teeangers, teach them about sex, or how to be sexual, I don't want to know about their vile, sick fantasies about sexually molesting or raping babies/children of various ages either
My review will be for the eBook.
It's rare for a true crime book, about various types of real-life crimes/murders to have a warning about the content in the book, due to the graphic nature of the crimes and specific details related to various types of crimes/murders so I appreciate that, as a reader of true crime.
If you're British or live in England then you will already know who
My review is for the ebook.
The eBook is (92 pages) so it's a quick read, depending on fast you read books or eBooks.
This book is fictional, but some of themes/scenes in the book made me feel uncomfortable to read specifically: the victim shaming of the domestic violence victim/the victimization and murder of the domestic violence victim as well, it was hard to read that.
It made me feel sick to read about the sexual abuse and the trauma that it caused to the children that were sexually abused by their dad, so it was understandable that one of the children committed suicide in such as horrific way.
