Cassie's story is finally here and she is not happy about it as finding her mate puts her in danger and brings out a side of her no one knew existed.
In the 32nd novel of Lora Leigh's “Breeds” series, the outcome of Cassie's bargain to save her sister is revealed and it is her mate in Cross Breed. Fighting the mating heat and the betrayal she feels at her mate's identity she has no where to turn as the world turns against her. Enemies come at them from all sides to include the Breed Council. On the run from what was the good guys, the Council, and unknown bad guys, Cassie tries to come to terms with the feelings she has always had for her mate and the betrayal she still feels. All of these feelings bring forth something in her that only her mate knows about and he is not sharing.
I have to preface this by saying that I love Lora Leigh and I have all of her novels as I am a HUGE fan. Cassie is a great heroine and very typical of Leigh's heroines. I will say that this is a typical Breeds novel, heroine gets in trouble, meets her mate, mating heat gets out of control, anger and lots of sex. The sex as usual is really good. The hero has issues that they have to work through and then there is more sex (very good sex). The story is well written and enjoyable to read. Sometimes familiarity is a comfort and Lora Leigh is my comfort food.

Lizzie and Sarah are back and this time Sarah wants a baby, but they have to face another crisis first.
Lizzie and Sarah are married now and living in a new home when Sarah springs the news on Lizzie that she wants her baby. While still reeling from this news, Lizzie gets a phone call that her mother is sick. A Woman Ignored deals with Lizzie's feelings about parenthood - being a parent and being the child of a parent. The crew is all there to give their input, plus three newcomers Doug, Maddie's new boyfriend, Tiffany, Peter's fiance, and Casey, Ethan's daughter. Lizzie's process through all of this is realistic and as unfinished as life is. The advantage Lizzie has over most is her fantastic support system. T.B. Markinson mixes the darkness of the emotions with the humor of friends.
For me this was a tough read as my own mother is sick, so this hit a little too close to home for me. I was into the book and already laughing about Lizzie's response to Sarah's baby request, when the phone call came and to be honest I did not want to finish reading the book. I did finish it though and luckily for Lizzie and me, Markinson does not drown you in “The Scotch Lady's” (Evelyn) illness. As with life, Lizzie has to deal with Sarah's insecurities regarding infidelity, her own insecurities regarding parenthood and her lack of knowledge regarding how to be a child. Lizzie competing with a three-year-old as to who knows more about Ariel and then only have Casey switch up the game because she had no clue they were even competing was hilarious. I think I would recommend this book more for the relationships involved than for romance. The community and family that you make when you are LGBTQ and not supported by your biological family is sometimes what you need to survive and Markinson displays this beautifully in this book.

An ex-girlfriend comes into town and throws Dana and Mel's life into chaos and murder.
Dana's Dilemma is the best so far of “The Morelville Mysteries” by Anne Hagan. The story focuses on Special Agent Dana Rossi and her decision on what to do with her career after having been severely injured in Book One and reinjured in Book Two. While deciding, Rossi gets a visit from her ex-girlfriend who tells her an outlandish tale of the mafia and crime and infers that Rossi herself is about to become a victim. Unfortunately for the ex, the next scene has her murdered instead and Rossi on the run from murder charges. In the mean time, Sheriff Mel Crane, and Rossi's girlfriend, is caught in the middle of the case and a re-election campaign. Her opponent is using the charges against Rossi and Crane's relationship with Rossi as a smear campaign against Crane. Then a girl goes missing...can she be saved with everyone running around trying to save themselves?
Exciting, right? This book is exciting and I could not put it down. Hagan had me hooked and the mystery was solid. There sex scenes were more a little more explicit than in the previous books which I liked, but still in the PG-13 to Rated R range so nothing that will make you overheated. The progression of Crane and Rossi's relationship was natural and Hagan makes the time to give readers a solid relationship. Do you have to read the first two books to enjoy the third, I do not think so as Hagan does a really good job of explaining what happened to Rossi, but you do have a more invested in the relationship if you do. Plus, there is no time lost between the books as they pick up right where the last book left off. Overall, no matter what you decide you can not go wrong with picking up Dana's Dilemma - let me take that dilemma off your hands (smile).

A man searching for a way to deal with his dreams finds more than he expected in his meditation instructor.
Jack Lancaster has been on a secret mission for the last 22 years: find Quinton Zane the fire bug and con man responsible for killing his mother and many others in a horrendous fire. Lancaster has the ability to walk through his dreams and find the answers in cold arson cases, but the more he utilizes this process the harder it is for him to come out of it. After trying almost every other kind of therapy and help, Lancaster meets Winter Meadows, a meditation therapist, who not only brings him calmness and clarity but her own dangerous and dark secrets. As they trek through the fire maze of Lancaster's dreams to the reality of Zane's trail all the while bumping into the murderous objects of Meadows past will they find the love buried among mysteries?
This book is a nice blend of Jayne Ann Krentz' pseudonyms of Amanda Quick and Jayne Castle as they both deal with energy and dream-walking which is predominant in Quick and Castle's novels. It was great to see some of the old characters and to get a lot more background on one of them which made the character really come to life. The whole family does join in, but this is really Jack and Willow's book and Krentz sticks with them. You do not need to read the other books in the series as this one can be read as a stand-alone. If you have read a Castle book, then you will recognize the fire burn sex scenes are very much the same here in Untouchable. Matter of fact, a lot of the same issues that Quick and Castle characters deal with in relation to gratitude, magic, being the odd one out, and being orphaned are also here. I am huge fan of Krentz, which I probably should have stated at the beginning of the review, as I have been reading her since she wrote for Silhouette, so for me reading her is like slipping on a pair of slippers and getting comfortable for the thrill.

Be careful what you eat or who you date because you might end up meeting the caretaker instead.
Anne Hagan continues Sheriff Mel Crane and Special Agent Dana Rossi's love story in Busy Bees in “The Moreville Mysteries” series. The emphasis on this book is on the mystery of murder and moonshine and not romance. Rossi sits on the back burner as she heals up from the shooting from the first book (oops hopefully you read the first one (laugh)). Crane is on her own with her staff working two cases of murder: one a food-poisoning at the local Mushroom Festival and another that happens within moments of her appearance. Are they connected or is she just chasing down wild moonshiners? Then a surprise contestant for Sheriff appears on the horizon making Crane have to think about whether she really wants the job as Sheriff or whether she wants back out on the streets working cases full-time.
Busy Bees is a fitting title as everyone is running around, but not really getting a lot done. Mel and Dana's romance never really gets off the ground. Dana does not find out what is in her future with her job, or with the outcome of the cases from Book 1. The kids are still running around the backyard looking to get into trouble. Holly, one of the deputies, has to be put on a figurative leash because she is all excited about the upcoming Sheriff's election. Other deputies have no clue what they are doing and neither do the suspects. New characters are introduced and with so much information tied to to them, you do not know whether to remember them or hope to be reminded later. I cannot really make up my mind about this book as nothing is really solved nor does anything really go anywhere - but it could be the lead in for what is coming?! Guess we will find out...on to book Three.

Chasing after poachers the Sheriff stumbles across an injured cheetah who turns out to be much more.
Aliyah Carver was kidnapped over six months while in her cheetah form in Africa and brought into the United States for a hunt and kill game. While running from the hunters, she is shot and is found by Sheriff Duncan Kennedy. Kennedy saves the wild animal and not knowing what else to do to save the wild animal, he brings it home with him. Imagine his surprise when the injured cheetah turns into a naked woman with an arrow protruding from her body. Maya Banks packs a lot in Golden Eyes a novella in the “Wild Series”. There is a full story for both characters full of pain and disclosure, then there is the sex which is good. I do not want to write too much more as this is a novella, but you cannot really go wrong with a novella with action, romance, and sex or a story by Banks.

A prince's assistant meets the woman of her dreams when she swipes right only to get ghosted by her shortly thereafter until a fortuitous train breakdown.
Alyssa Cole shows us what can happen when we take a chance and swipe right in Once Ghosted, Twice Shy~A Reluctant Royals Novella. Likotski is an extremely organized assistant to the Prince of her country who is busy chasing his own love and she has the weekend off to finally get over a woman she met over seven months ago (she could tell you the exact length of time). The train she is on gets stuck and her phone beeps. Seven months ago Fabiola was prepared to change her life to make her dreams come true and open her own jewelry store and then fate steps in and changes everything. This is a novella so I cannot really tell more or I will give everything away. As we live through the past and deal with the issues of the Likotski and Fab's present, Cole takes us on a tour of New York and to places I have never seen before so the emotional and the physical trip is interesting and at times fun. The chemistry is nice for a novella and I would have like to see where these two could have gone if they had had a full-length novel, oh the fun they could have had - you can just tell by their dialogue.

A doctor saving the world with mysterious potions meets a gun for hire sent by her father either to save her or kill her.
Dr. Rachel Venable has dedicated her life to saving lives after surviving a horrific kidnapping experience in her teens changes her life forever. After her father, Iris Johansen cast regular, CIA Carl Venable dies on a mission to kill the men (Red Star) responsible for killing their family, he hands off the mission and the care of his daughter to Jude Brandon. Brandon has his own Vendetta against the organization and decides to use Rachel to his own ends until he meets the woman herself during the first of many attempts on her life. She not only is a pillar of character, she comes with her own team as Catherine Ling is her best friend, Hu Chang is her mentor, and where Catherine goes so does Richard Cameron. Johansen handles both relationships adroitly and the multiple mysteries and dead ends with the occasional surprises thrown in with her usual style.
I will say I have missed a couple of books in this series as I had no clue who Rachel was or until I was writing this review that this was considered a “Catherine Ling” series book. I had never heard of Rachel and the connection with Chang before so I felt like completely thrown as if some stranger had just been thrown into a history I thought I knew so well. It also seems odd for one of the characters to sit out of the story-line knowing the character as well as I do, for story-line purposes and Johansen's intention it makes sense, but not for the character. I will say that I knew all along how it was going to end in the sense that it has become formulaic in how these stories are told now. Rachel is a great character and I liked her. I liked Brandon's back up team. It did seem weird for Catherine to not be as invincible as she always is, but I do not want to give too much away. The book is good, it just seems like I knew what was coming and it was comfortable like a pair slippers after a rough week.

In walks the most gorgeous woman you have ever seen, the problem is that she is your brother's fiancée and your girlfriend might mind you sleeping with her.
Elizabeth, Lizzie to her friends, is a woman who just does not know who or what she wants in T.B. Markinson's A Woman Lost. As she laments all of her woes to her best friend, Ethan, over chai every week we get glimpses into who she wants to be, the lies she tells herself and others, and what she struggles with as Ethan calls bullshit on the half-truths. Lizzie is a self-absorbed, workaholic, who cannot be the bad guy unless it is directed at her family. During the six to eight months the story takes place she ends up from just sleeping with a girl to something deeper and according to her this happens all without her help. She falls in lust with her brother's fiancee and debates with herself during this time whether to seduce her away from her brother all the while checking out the waitress serving chai to another customer. Lizzie is complex, human, and as messed up about relationships as most people are - she just is not willing to look in the mirror at herself unless she has to. We get a chance to see how Lizzie formed her less than idyllic view of relationships and how she has opportunities to view them differently.
I do not know if at the end of the book whether I liked Lizzie or not, maybe I see a lot me in her - I am not sure yet, something to think about. I did like a majority of the secondary characters except for Sarah's best friend, but maybe I am not supposed to like her (laugh). The sex when it happened was hot. The fun and erotic moments between Lizzie and Sarah are why we read romances in the first place.

Imagine going to a new country to settle your late father's affairs only to dodge bullets, fast moving cars, and stampeding horses and that is before you get his ashes.
Sara Blaedel takes readers on a speeding journey in mid-western America when Ilka Jensen arrives to settle her late father's affairs in Her Father's Secret. Blaedel wastes no time and throws the reader immediately into a mystery and it is not even connected to the reason the Ilka is there. Blaedel not only gives us one mystery to solve, but multiple mysteries in this quickly paced and cleanly written story. She wastes no time in flowery words and instead gives us wit and panicked grit. There are so many mysteries, that you forget the main reason she is there because you are along for the ride just as she is and wondering what is around the next curve. I do not know how I have never read this author before because I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Her side characters have as much mystery and story and keep you interested because everyone serves a purpose and not everyone is who they seem to be. Ilka is a character that is likeable with her own problems and troubled past which is shown in glimpses like a tired detective grudgingly giving you parts of their life. This is not a woman's romantic mystery - this is a straight mystery for those who might get confused because this is a female author. It was such a joy to read a real character and I cannot wait to see what Ilka does not and to go on Blaedel's next ride.

Getting naked for art brings two roommates closer together.
Radclyffe infuses this short story with the eroticism of desire but too afraid to take the first step. In First Sight, two lesbian roommates only communicate on a surface level when one is selected to model nude for the other's art class. The moment she drops her robe everything changes for the roommates. I do not want to write more as this is a short story - a very short story. The story is more about desire and voyeurism. This story does what a short story does, it stirs the appetite for more and luckily for us Radclyffe definitely delivers in her other books. Enjoy!

Counterfeiting and stolen goods cases end up entangling a local sheriff and a customs agent out in the field and in the sheets.
Anne Hagan starts “The Morelville Mysteries” series with Relic and the introduction of customs agent Dana Rossi and temporary Sheriff Mel Crane. Both characters have a lot in common as they are both on the trail of criminals, Rossi is chasing down a shipment of stolen goods that is coming in and Crane is on the trail of counterfeit money. From the moment they meet sparks fly and not only in words but the in sexual chemistry. Hagan gives them electricity right from the beginning, but as all good lawmen do, they put the job first. As we tail two separate cases, these two lawmen keep crossing paths and get more involved with each other than either is prepared for as they both have romantic pasts to put behind them. Hagan knows her couple though and there is nothing like a little excitement and danger to put those endorphins to work and we get to enjoy the after effects.
The mysteries are solid and the result is not rushed or too outlandish to be believed. Rossi and Crane make sense as a couple and their chemistry is good and could really work for them in future novels (at least I hope so, I am always a sucker for a happy ending). There is just a enough sex to satisfy the romantic, but not too much to distract the mystery fan. I did not want to put the mystery down and this is a good sign, cannot wait to read the next one and you will feel the same way. Word of advice: read this on a weekend. (laugh)

Alex is everything that Claire has ever wanted and who she has measured everyone else against. Claire thinks that Alex will never see her among the models and beautiful women who throw themselves at Alex. Claire sees herself as “just a geek”, someone who tagged along with her best-friend Alex's sister and who later went into business with her. Imagine her surprise when one night of drinking lets out secrets from the both of them as well as gets them out of their clothes. The night leads to more and is told from Claire's point of view and therefore we see all of her insecurities about herself and the difficulties of balancing dream versus reality. It was not until I was reading this that I remembered how rushed a relationship can be sometimes, but these characters have known each over a decade just not in this context. The sexual tension and the willingness to explore is fun to read. Watching the relationship between Claire, Alex, and Alex's sister change and grow due to the changing dynamics was entertaining and sad at times. I do think a necessary conversation was missing in this novel and this is the answer as to why Alex changed and came home, I think this was handled on a surface level and to me it explains Claire's insecurities. This is not to say that Claire would not have had insecurities, she has her own issues to deal with, but I think knowing a solid back story as to the road of “why” now and here would have made her and us understand better. Overall, the book is a great read with great sex. Emory hired Sarah to organize her house and ended up opening her heart to the feisty single-mother.
In Melissa Brayden's Heart Block, Emory is stoically dealing with her mother's death and one of the items on her list is hiring someone to clean out her mother's house. She hires Sarah's mother's company on the recommendation of her business partner and ex-lover. Sarah takes the job personally as the company is overbooked at the time and she loves to organize. When Sarah meets Emory, she immediately has feelings she has never felt before for a woman. She also sees how stressed, detached, and isolated within herself Emory is and tries to help her. Brayden takes us through the dark emotions of death with a light touch while ensuring the growth of Emory's character and the relationship between Sarah and Emory. The story is told from both characters point of view which is I think is important as we are viewing two completely different yet the same paths, Emory is concentrated in how others view her and how far her company can get ahead. Sarah is concentrated in family and then she realizes her feelings for Emory and how her very traditional family will deal with her homosexuality. Yet they are both are the same path of changing and accepting who they are growing to be, the question is: will they grow together?
I think this is the fourth or fifth book I have read this year where a heterosexual woman discovers feelings for a woman and THEN she is the sexual aggressor. I always find this highly amusing because when I first really came out, I was so not the aggressor unless I had a drink in me. I was a lot younger then so maybe that is the difference between the characters and me. The sex is PG-13 which is kind of to be expected as one of the characters is new to the scene. The relationship is fully developed as is the one between Emory and Grace, Sarah's daughter. You will not be disappointed with the romance and you will not be dragged down by the emotional issue of death. Enjoy!

The attraction is immediate and intense. They are both looking for a Mistress and sub relationship with Pilar being the dominant. Suzanne finds everything she needs in her new Mami, but constantly questions and mistrusts herself and everything around her. Weatherspoon takes us on her journey into a true and honest relationship and how she grows personally from this relationship.Weatherspoon explores all of the dynamics in the Mistress and sub dynamic from the mundane to the sensual to what some would call the kinky. Yes, there is some spanking with a paddle, but there are no whips and canes. The sex is consensual and only between Suzanne and Pilar (though there is an incident in the book of another nature that does not occur between the two). Weatherspoon also gives us a glimpse into other types of dynamics between lesbian Mistresses and subs. I found the balance between Suzanne's sub life and street life to be perfect. This read as any other typical romance, so do not fear the BDSM portion because Weatherspoon writes it beautifully and if I do say, with some squirming, erotically.#RebekahWeatherspoon #AtHerFeet #LesbianRomance #Lesbian #BDSM #Romance #LGBT #MommyDaughterPlay #MistressSub #Kinky #BoldStrokesBooks #4Stars #PhoebesRainbowWorld #FlippingRainbows

The story is told through Holly's viewpoint, but it would have been nice to see how Elise came to her end conclusion's as everything seemed a little to pat. [bc:Busted: A Memoir of Teenage Years 42768338 Busted A Memoir of Teenage Years Phianna Rekab https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1542112721l/42768338.SY75.jpg 66517085]Phianna Rekab's teenage voice clearly shows through this memoir of those years from her travels from her home in the Caribbean to the dreamland called America. Her voice changes from the child hiding under the table sipping sweet milk to the disillusioned yet still oddly hopeful American immigrant. Coming to America in the 1980s, Rekab's family came at a period where you would have thought all of the strife of hard living would have passed, but it never does if you are a non-white. She indicates this through her stories of her family, friends, and herself. She holds the mirror up to everyone - including herself. It is a familiar tale, unfortunately, but I think it is one that every teenager should read and should be part of a high school reading list because it gives the point of view from her at that age and Rekab's voice is perfectly shown for that time period. When I first started reading this book, I had no clue that Rekab had written other books and I thought this writer needs to continue to write she has a voice that should be heard - and then I looked her up (laugh) and she has been writing. If you have not had a chance to read one of her books, try this one first.#Memoir #Emigration #BlackHistory #PhiannaRekab #BustedAMemoirofTeenageYears #PhoebesRainbowWorld #FlippingRainbows

Lily had no idea what she had unleashed with her refusal to see Stone again, but his determination and desire overcomes great barriers until they are finally face to face again just in time for him to save her life. Now the two of them are on the run where Lily has no choice but to learn to trust again and Shayla Black makes Stone and the reader work for it. There is humor and sadness with the story telling, but I do not think anything that is too heavy and it balances out the deep desires between Stone and Lily. There is some kinkiness in the book, but not to the extreme as to make someone uncomfortable. The story has a little bit of everything: a strong woman, a strong man, humor, sadness, things that blowup, a twist or two, sex, and of course love.#Rratedsex #WickedLovers #romance #ShaylaBlack #FallingInDeeper #3Stars #PhoebesRainbowWorld #FlippingRainbows
[bc:Hot Holiday Nights 26040381 Hot Holiday Nights (Play by Play, #10.5) Jaci Burton https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1438713813s/26040381.jpg 45968078]Hot, hot, and more hot is what this book should be labeled. I should give a warning here as this is a male-female-male romance. Tori takes a holiday and meets a surfer almost immediately upon her arrival who hits all of her hot spots. After deciding to take Alex as a lover, she then meets his older roommate Ben who also stirs her and more. Deciding honesty is the best policy, she confesses to both men and they decide to let “rules” fall by the bed side. Since this is a novella, the sex is quick and not as detailed as Burton usually is but the romance is satisfying. You will enjoy the quickie as much as Tori and the guys do.#PlayByPlay #RRatedSex #MFMromance #romance #sportsromance #polyamorous #Novella #JaciBurton #HotHolidayNights #PhoebesRainbowWorld #FlippingRainbows
[bc:The Heart of a Killer 11164528 The Heart of a Killer (The Killer, #1) Jaci Burton https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1305052791s/11164528.jpg 15334611]This is the first time I have read a mystery romance written by Jaci Burton and I loved The Heart of a Killer. The success of a mystery to me is if I do not guess the killer and I debated between two for most of the book and then at the last minute added a third - no I am not going to tell (laugh). I will say like a good mystery movie, everybody dies and that is the best part. As a reader of many series books you automatically assume who is going to live and Burton surprises with the direction of this series and I loved it. Anna and Dante have great chemistry and a past which helps to solidify a foundation that would not normally have during this mystery. The only thing I have to say I was a little unsatisfied with was the romantic ending as it seemed beneath the characters to me - like a cop out - a play on words here. Everything else is top notch.#TheKIller #PG13sex #mysteryromance #mystery #romance #JaciBurton #TheHeartOfAKiller #4Stars #PhoebesRainbowWorld #FlippingRainbows
[bc:Gone Country 13022025 Gone Country (Rough Riders, #14) Lorelei James https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1351202288s/13022025.jpg 18184662]We are with old friends when Gavin Daniels decides to move his errant daughter, Sierra, to his birth family's homestead where he disrupts the life and heart of his house's caretaker Rielle.Lorelei James takes on father and daughter romances in Gone Country. In Sierra's romance, we get the innocent blush of first love and the growth of a teenager into a young woman. On the other hand, Gavin and Rielle cause enough of a brushfire to make up for the lack of sex in Sierra's relationship (thank goodness due to the age). All of the characters go through a period of growth which is shown through chapters and months and this growth is necessary for all of the characters. This growth allows us readers to believe that all of the relationships involved stand a chance in the future as James does not quickly move to the happy ending. There are great sex scenes between Gavin and Rielle and some surprisingly honest conversation between men which is refreshing to read and James does well. I would not recommend reading this in public as you might be squirming a little at some parts, but it will be enjoyment.#RoughRiders #Rratedsex #romance #cowboyromance #LoreleiJames #GoneCountry #FlippingRainbows #PhoebesRainbowWorld
