A Space Ranger tracks a thief who crashed her plane in her escape only to save her.

Space Ranger Natalie Reynolds is hailed to take the report of some stolen gas for a plane when a dangerous meteor storm hits the area she is in. The thief, Catherine Porter, gets caught in the storm and crash lands on a frozen planet and an SOS is sent out by the plane. Reynolds realizing it is the mystery thief sets out to rescue her. The attraction Reynolds feels for Porter is undeniable, but Porter sets her “straight” (laugh) pun intended - she is not that kind of girl. Yet, Porter cannot deny she does not want to leave Reynolds side. The rescue turns into a vacation for Reynolds and more time with Porter until eventually even Porter cannot deny the attraction. The unanswered question as to why Porter stole the gas gets answered, but it leads to more questions and a trip to Porter's aunt's home planet when danger once again finds Porter and Reynolds.

I have to admit that I have never read a “science fiction” book and I was not sure what to expect and this was a lot of fun. K.C. Luck does not make the science fiction so complicated in Rescue Her Heart that a non-science-geek cannot follow along. I love the character of “Nat”, probably because I could identify with almost every thought she had to include the concern regarding the age difference between Catherine and her. Luck creates a strong partner for Nat in Catherine which is necessary when writing for a military character. There are twists and turns in the story as any good adventure has and they all make sense and with one of them, I can already see the next book (hopefully, laugh). The sex is R-rated, but it is the usual sex scene you find in the romances. I do like the emotional connection throughout the sex scenes which is something I usually do not write about but it really works here. I look forward to reading more...even science fiction, well at least if Luck is writing it (laugh).

Note: This was Luck's debut novel, but I read the anniversary edition which had been updated.

Three women who work together and share their lives, but will their personal lives destroy everything they are working for?

For those who did not read Pre-Season or Episode One (if you have read, skip to the next section):

Claire and Juliette have been best friends for over twenty years. They are both workaholics who have given everything to their business and have just landed their first major political client. Juliette has been married for ten years, but for the last year her marriage has been falling apart and she does not know why. Claire has been taking the occasional lover, but is starting to feel that something is missing from her one-night stands. Then there is their PR agent in training Steph who is enjoying being single until she meets the married and heterosexual political new client.

Harper Bliss drops you right into the tea in French Kissing the first book in this series. Juliette is your typical type A personality who is obsessed with work and used to her life running exactly as it always has and likes it that way. When her wife, Nadia, rises through the ranks at her job at the hospital and takes more and more time away from home and her “wifely” duties this causes friction between the couple. Yet, Juliette knows there has to be more to it than that, but does she? Is it just missed dinners, too many work hours, and Juliette ignoring Nadia that is the problem? Claire puts in as many hours as Juliette and loves it as she has her occasional lovers that come in to town and call her when Nadia sets her up with a doctor from the hospital. When they first meet, it looks like they have nothing in common...ahhhh the way all good romances start. Margot is just as busy as Claire and she's the perfect “bad boy” stereotype for Claire. Until the ex who broke Margot's heart comes back into town and throws their new romance into a spin. Steph, on the other hand, ends up being the point person for the new political client who is not as heterosexual as originally thought. I told you: lots of tea. Bliss gives you everything: drama, laughter, good looking women, and sex. The sex is actually pretty good, I look forward to seeing more (laugh - that kind of sounds wrong but oh so right).

For those who did read Pre-Season or Episode One: (spoilers for those who have not read it)

The first third of Season One, covers the information from Episode One, but without the detail. We find out the repercussions of Nadia's secret and the aftermath of destruction it causes. The truth comes out about the fox in the henhouse as secrets get revealed. Margot's ex comes back into town, but does she want Margot back? Steph and Dominque continue their relationship to everyone's surprise and the firm's possible destruction. Bliss adds a lot more sex in this book and it is really good sex with some light BDSM play. This is a fun and quick read once you get past what you have already read and as I have said before, Bliss brings the “tea”.

Parts of this review appear in 2 May 2019 review of Harper Bliss' French Kissing: Episode One.

A single mother races against the clock to save her children against an unknown enemy who does not even ask for ransom.

CIA Chief Supervisor Isabella Bendel's first day in her new position starts off with having to break up with her first boyfriend since her husband died six years ago since John is also her co-worker and now one of her subordinates. At the same time a computer programmer arrives on American soil with plans to destroy America. Within days, Bendel survives an attack and learns during the interrogation that her children and mother have been taken by an unknown entity. The clock starts for both the computer programmer who has to complete his mission before his boss terminates him and for Bendel to save her family. She calls in all of her resources to save her family relying on John, Vanessa, and Suzanne (women she has known for over a six years and trusts). It seems no matter what Bendel does though, the bad guys keep trying to kill her and they seem to always be one step ahead of her and time is running out for her family.

Countdown America written by M.C. Fox is a fun espionage ride. I will admit that I knew one of the bad guys right away (Asiya). There are also a couple of other twists that do not seem plausible due to how Fox wrote the characters and the history she gave them, but if you go with the flow it is enjoyable. The twists are actually something that you would see on a television show so it is not really that far fetched. The story moves quickly and Fox writes strong women characters which I personally would like to see more of in the future. This is strictly a suspense book with no romance and it does not need it, but I am just giving my lady readers a heads up. If you are looking for a fun beach read - this is it.

I received this book for #free in a #Goodreads Giveaway and it did not affect my opinion at all.

A music star and a movie star have to fake a romance, the problem is one is a lesbian and the other is a heterosexual who has only dated men.

Lila Wilder is a music star who is always changing her music and image to keep ahead of what the public wants and right now she is stumped. She does not know where to go with her next album and she is not sure what to change to create a stir and draw interest from the media and the public to keep them interested while she figures it out. Cobie Galloway is America's teen sweetheart, even though she came out of the closet over a decade ago. She only gets offered the sweet ingenue roles. She wants to play a role completely opposite of that and does not know how to change the industry's view of her so she can get the role she wants and has been training for. Their managers (married partners) have an idea: Cobie and Lila should faux date for six months. Lila will roughen Cobie's image up and Lila coming out as “bisexual” will create the interest she needs. They both agree to the faux romance and before long, they are both fighting their mutual sexual attraction.

I have to preface this by saying that I love Rachel Spangler, she is fast becoming one of my favorite lesbian romance authors. The characters are complex and sometimes in their arguments I had to pause and take a breath myself because I was reading so fast and the words were spinning as if I was right there. Spangler shows all of the turmoil of falling in love in the book In Development, then adds the drama of being young. These women are not exactly young (mid-twenties), but their experiences make them young and old at the same time which is exactly what youth is. One minute you are on one person's side and then you are on another's person's side because they are right too (laugh). The sex is not what I usually expect from Spangler as I have read more graphic and gratuitous sex in her other books. I am rating this book as R-rated, but it is the usual sex scene you find in romance books. I really liked this book and cannot wait to talk about in book club this month!

Some people are looking for a career change in Morelville and who knew that impact would have such an impact on Sheriff Crane, her town, and her marriage.

Sheriff Mel Crane is busy with what at first seems like random crimes that increase with violence with each crime. Crane and her crew are chasing gang members from bank robberies in cars and on foot to looking for drive by shooters killing other gang members. No one has a clue what is going on because none of the gang members are talking. In the meantime, medically retired Agent Dana Rossi has hit writer's block too many times and reaches out to an old employer looking for investigative side work and is immediately handed a case to verify whether a heiress is worthy of inheriting her trust and fulfills the moral clause of the trust. The couple is busy during their first year of marriage and Dana's mother starts to worry that they are not spending enough time together and gets Mel's mother involved to “help” the “kids” stay together. Rampant crime committing gang members, a questionable heiress, and meddling mothers make for a stressful time for Crane and Rossi - never mind the town.

Anne Hagan brings a different twist in Mad for Mel, seventh in “The Morelville Mysteries” series and it is nice to see Rossi back in the investigation field. There are a lot of characters to keep track of especially within the gang and Hagan gives us plenty of context so that when everything is revealed in the end, it makes sense. The humor of the situation comes from the meddling mothers of course and it is pretty funny especially one of the dates they construct. There is a lot going on for a small book, but since this is a series everything we learn usually appears useful in another story. The resolution is a bit simplistic in its complexity in it assumes that people do not really pay attention which I find in crime not to be true, but the mystery works here in Morelville.

Eunuchs are more than just a trope to use when you need a villain.

Tucker Lieberman shares his thoughts of how eunuchs are viewed in Painting Dragons: What Storytellers Need to Know About Writing Eunuch Villains. Lieberman takes the experience of the transperson and relates that emotional experience to how a eunuch feels (the two are not connected in any way). He first takes us through the history of eunuchs, the ones made due to slavery and the others made due to religion or spiritual belief. The idea that we value a person based on whether they have balls or not (my words not the author's) is predominant in society and throughout history and is showcased in casting the eunuch as a villain. Lieberman points out that this is not only done with eunuchs but with other humans with a seen deformity or deficiency, they are made to be the villain of the story and the author does the villain and the reader a disservice. Lieberman then takes us through various stories from Eutropius to Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol (2009) to George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire (1996 and onward) examining various roles of the eunuch and villains.

I had never thought of this issue before as I have never written a villain as having a deformity or only one race. I have always written villains that have represented the villains in my own life and unfortunately they could look like the person looking back at you in the mirror. Sometimes they resemble me. I will say that I recognize the themes in Lieberman's book and in his examples and could give quite a few myself and I think this book would make an excellent choice for a Book Club selection. I wish while I was reading it that I had someone to bounce the thoughts going through my head as I was reading it and know what books I will never read (laugh). I will say though that in my stories I always ensure that I have a LGBTQ+ character(s) in them, but it never occurred to me to have people who are considered to be “deformed” in my stories as an everyday character just as I have a queer character. This is bad on my part as I am handicapped and I am part of everyday life. Thank you Mr. Lieberman for pointing out a HUGE faux paux on my part and many other writers' parts as well. I highly recommend this book for writers, readers, and Book Clubs.

I received this book for #free in a #Goodreads Giveaway and it did not affect my opinion at all.

As one woman finally gets her life together, she watches as everyone else's life falls apart and she wonders if her wife and her will make it through the storm.

It is difficult to believe, but Lizzie has her relationship and adulting figured out in this sixth book of the “A Woman Lost” series in A Woman Undone by T.B. Markinson. Unfortunately, everyone around her seems to be forgetting the advice they gave her to grow up. Her brother may spend years in prison and his daughter is deserted by her mother. Her best friend Ethan is on the brink of divorce. Her brother Gabe popped the question, but now wants to take it back. Then her father is rushed to the hospital, there is a death in the family, and did I mention that Sarah wants another baby?

Markinson is pretty brilliant with how she wrote number six because it could actually be read as a stand-alone book. She regurgitates everything that has happened in one through five to remind everyone of where we are in the story as the shit keep hits the fan for Lizzie and her family. You do not feel left out or that you have forgotten something because everything is summed up quickly and neatly. The other nice part of Lizzie adulting is there is more sex in this book and we all know I like sex so I was happy to see this as Sarah and Lizzie's relationship matures and settles. I will also say as I do not want to give away too many details, there are some macabre moments that really tickled my funny bone. I also feel that as much as Markinson closed the door on Lizzie and Sarah, it felt like she opened the door for all the rest of the family except I think she only writes lesbian fiction. I have enjoyed the journey this series has taken me on as this is the first time I have read this type of series (apparently this type of series is very popular in lesbian fiction (laugh)). I am glad that I did not have to wait in between books between five and six and neither will you as all six are out now. Happy reading and enjoy the journey!

Can a cop and a bar owner have a happy ending after having a deadly courtship?

In the conclusion of the “Barb and Janet” series, the couple face the gauntlet of emotional challenges as they decide whether to move forward in their relationship or not. A high-school crush comes back into Barb's life. Janet faces the biggest challenge of her career. Lisa's ghost is still in between Barb and Janet. Everyone wants to give advice, but Barb is drowning in work at the bar or does she not really want to communicate with Janet? Then everything gets even more confusing when a little girl fires a gun.

Anne Hagan focuses on the emotional aspect of Barb and Janet's relationship in Steamboat Reunion. I do not want to give too much away in my review, but it is a tough read because Barb's issues are difficult and easy to imagine. The memory of Barb's deceased wife, Lisa, is an open source of pain for Barb and therefore Janet. Janet's idea is to face Lisa's ghost head on and their past and hence the title of the book. Janet has the idea of bringing Barb back to her home with Lisa. Once again I do not want to give too much away as the book is mainly about Barb, Lisa, and Janet. Hagan handles the resolution, and that is not quite the term I am looking for, of one relationship and the growth of Barb's soul with finesse. For those of you who have been on this journey with Barb and Janet, it is well worth the wait.

It is Christmas time, but the Grinch has come to visit and he brought some thieves to help him wreck some havoc in Morelville.

It is the first family Christmas for the newly married Sheriff Mel Crane and Dana Rossi in their new home. Crane has hired a desperately needed new detective Janet Mason to help with the department's workload which has suddenly increased with house robberies. All of sudden Dana has more to worry about than buying Christmas presents as Janet has taken a liking to her new boss. There is also the unsolved murder of the daughter one of the town's richest men. Then dogs start disappearing and it does not seem to be high on the list until Dana's dog goes missing too.

Anne Hagan packs a lot of action in A Crane Christmas, the sixth book in “The Morelville Mysteries”. These mysteries take place over a couple of days and you get to see the characters flaws and strengths through these cases, especially Crane and Mason's. Hagan once again writes crimes which ring true and and shows you the tediousness of police work. Crane and Rossi's relationship is something that confuses me I will confess, but maybe you guys have experienced something similar so you will nod your head when you read this book. I just said, “Hmmmm” a lot (laugh). The sex is perfunctory for the book, if you have read any of the previous books in this series it is the same moves. I like Crane and Rossi is developing into a different character than she was in book one which would be expected as she is no longer a Customs Agent. The mysteries are solid. So off we go to book seven...see you there!

A rootless woman traveling across the States hits a speed bump in the form of a sexy redheaded secretary.

Julia Marks walked away from the corporate world to live in her van and travel around the United States. She has no plans and no direction, she just goes with the flow and survives with odd jobs and ingenuity. While house-sitting in Madison and working as a bartender for a month she watches as a redheaded sad beauty walks in and she cannot help herself. Unfortunately after a night of bliss, she finds out that Robin is not only “straight” but engaged. Julia goes on her way, but not without leaving Robin with her number and questions about her sexuality. Robin has more than that on her mind as she has just lost her job and does not know what is in her future, but she knows that Julia has sparked something in her and she wants to explore it.

Nicolette Dane introduces us to Vanlife and a different way of life - no, not lesbanism (laugh). Life on the road in a van, for one I did not know you could put solar panels on a van, I thought that was very cool. I can imagine that the research for this book was a lot of fun. Julia is not just a woman escaping her past, but herself and Dane paints a full-fledged character who is helping herself and not just living in a van. Robin and Julia together are fun and Dane takes the sex slow even though the night bliss happens right away - we are not voyeurs to it. As the relationship grows and deepens, Dane describes the sex in greater detail which is great to read. We get to meet other road people and hear their stories and it actually made my feet itch to hit the road. I better pick up another book and see where it takes me....

Yoga meets CrossFit and the sparks start to fly and more than the gym heats up.

Sutton Kay meets her new landlord right after she gets done yelling at her for her loud music and after checking out her butt for a couple of minutes. Sutton does not know what to make of her landlord as she cannot seem to have one civil conversation with Tuesday, but she cannot seemed to stop desiring her. After awhile she cannot stop going into the gym with varied excuses until finally she challenges Tuesday to a dare: try hot yoga and soon Tuesday is returning with a dare of her own.

I have to say it so nice to read a “normal” romance: girl meets girl and they get their groove on. Chelsea M. Cameron gives me everything I have been craving in Anyone But You. Sutton and Tuesday have chemistry, conversation, and sex. (sigh) It is heaven. The romance is something everyone can relate to as any sports person thinks their sport is better than the other so the dialogue back and forth is funny. Tuesday's courtship is very cute. The one item that is new to read is the non-binary plural third person which I will have to get used to. At first I thought the cats were shrugging and getting pizza and I thought “Huh?” and I had to read the paragraphs three or four times before I realized that Sutton's roommate is non-binary. It does take some getting used to reading third person plural if you have never read it before, but once you become aware of it, it becomes easier. The sex is fantastic and I have to admit that Cameron kept talking about licking Tuesday's muscles so much I wanted to lick them too (laugh). If you are looking for an old-fashioned romance - this is it! Thank you Chelsea!

Book Club Question:

Does Cameron's lack of description for Zee make it easier for you to think of them as non-binary?

WARNING: This review is heavily tainted with the impact this book had on me personally and has many spoilers and political commentary which everyone may not agree with.

Queer Joints, Wiseguys and G-Men is a collection of stories from Phillip Crawford Jr.'s now-deleted blog “Friends of Ours”.

The above sentence is a tame introduction to this book as I was enthralled just reading the Introduction to this book. I love history and this is yet another facet into gay history that I did not know about and I found just as fascinating as if it was happening today instead of years ago. It does not change my opinion of Nancy Pelosi to know the history of her father that apparently everyone else does, but I do want to know who her campaign manager is as I do not know how she got elected between her father and brother. I can imagine the horror, even if it was thirty years later, that Crawford was printing addresses of mobsters homes in his blogs which I think as a reporter is just awesome. As I was reading it made me want to go to these houses and apartments and see if they are on a tour.

It is amazing to me that over and over again for over twenty years information was given to various Presidents and to Hoover and the Mafia was not “officially” recognized until the 1950s. The reports range from ice cream shops, to cheese shops, to laundry and oddly enough a huge gay scene in Texas in the 1950s. I say oddly because I have lived in Texas and in the 1990s I still had to go to a bar outside of the base with a red light outside of it to show that it was a gay bar. So I was amazed by this section of the book and the knowledge of the gay scene and how it was utilized for crime and all of the young men exploited and how they must feel today. People always talk about women in being used in prostitution, but there is not much talk about gay men or the young men who are questioning whose choices due to circumstances they feel are taken away from them. I just wanted to hug all the boys as I was reading this section thinking of all of the damage done.

This is a short book to read for the amount of history it imparts and I recommend it - even if you just keep it in the bathroom or read it on the bus on the way to work. Read it a chapter at a time. It has something for everyone even if you are not part of the rainbow community. It shows how government works and how we keep making the same mistakes and that the issues we are having today are not new - we really are just repeating the past.

Attorney Crawford if you ever want to sit down and chat, the coffee is on me because I have questions. I loved this book. I have sat for many hours at a microfiche machine reading newspapers to find out just what the weather was for a particular day so that my story rings true or to get information for a client so I can imagine the work that went into your blog and I salute you. I received this book in a giveaway and it is truly a gift. Thank you.

While the ladies are honeymooning, their mothers decide to solve the latest crime in Viva Mama Rossi!.

Crane and Rossi leave for their honeymoon with one murder left unsolved, but Crane's deputies on the case. Unfortunately, the morning of their departure a man goes missing while Rossi's mother is shopping in his store. While the ladies bask in hot tubbed bliss, the mothers get together to setup the new Crane-Rossi home and end up in the middle of the gossip mongering about the missing man who then turns up dead. As the mothers add up clues, Crane and Rossi stumble across their own crime scene in their hotel room. The only people who believe that dead man was murdered is Crane's father, his best friend, and now the mothers. Every one seems to have an ax to grind and when Crane and Rossi get back and add their story to the mix, the mystery gets even more complex.

The more I read of Anne Hagan, the more I like as her mysteries get more complex but never stray too far from far-fetched. I have some unanswered questions leftover from this mystery, but we will see whether they get answered in future mysteries. I did say in an earlier review that I wanted to spend more time with Dana's family, I just did not expect it to be so soon (laugh). I love her mom and I think her influence will help Crane's relationship with her mother. She also brings another avenue to the investigation business. I am a little confused about the abrupt switch in Rossi's career ideas, but I have to assume she is trying on a bunch of different occupations to see what fits. The sex is the usual though I was expecting more since it is the honeymoon (wink). Hagan gives us a solid story and a couple we can grow with which is nice.

To save the family ranch, an American rancher goes to Russia for a long-term job and meets her translator who makes her think about more than breaking the law.

Laramie Bowman takes a job in Russia for three years after her brother suffers a debilitating accident incurring numerous medical bills and a long rehabilitation. Going to a new country and not speaking the language is daunting, but Bowman is not really concerned about that as she is about being a lesbian in a country that outlaws it. Then she meets her translator, Anastasia, and things get extremely complicated as Ana is engaged to her boss' nephew and Laramie's attraction is deepening by the day. Ana's interest in Laramie is returned as no one knows in the small town that she is lesbian who is an activist in the big city against the government's laws regarding homosexuality. Soon Ana and Laramie are speaking the same language of lust and that is just the beginning of the complications as criminals are afoot and long-buried secrets come to life impacting everyone.

I said this in an earlier review today, but I must have gone a long time without reading a straight (pardon the pun) “girl meets girl” romance that I am soaking these up (laugh). I was not expecting the little mysteries thrown in and they were fun and made things interesting. I love a good old-fashioned romance and Yolanda Wallace provides us with this in Comrade Cowgirl. There is chemistry, drama, sass, mystery, and cowgirls - a reader could not ask for more - oh wait, there is sex too. Put this book on your Summer Read list or take it to the beach because this is one that you will enjoy and it will take you away into a cute romance.

It is Christmas time and Sara has planned everything perfectly except the Petrie Grinches are coming and it is up to Lizzie to the save day. Lizzie, really?

Lizzie is just as surprised as we are that she is put in the role as savior of the Christmas holiday as all of the hard work and planning that Sara has put into the “perfect” holiday seems to be blowing up when one catastrophe after another happens. Some happen by nature and some happen due to certain characters, which anyone who has read the previous books will have seen coming. I am not saying much in this description as I do not want to give away any spoilers as literally this book is filled with bombshell after bombshell and Christmas is more like a war zone and even ends on a cliffhanger.

Markinson out does herself with A Woman Loved the fifth book in “A Woman Lost” series. This book showcases that you have to have read the other books because you will be lost to the impact of the shenanigans and will be able to appreciate other events that happen. Lizzie, herself, has fully grown into an adult which surprises everyone including herself which this book fully indicates. There is old ground revisited, but sometimes we think we have gotten over an incident when in reality we have not. This is an emotional growth book for many characters, so grab the tea or the popcorn because there is a lot to witness. Just remember to breathe and take bathroom breaks because Lizzie and her crew will still be there for you to pick right up where you left off...until you get to the cliffhanger. (evil laugh begins)

A woman locked within her house meets a woman locked within herself.

Annalie was once a prominent violinist and she let her ex take that away from her. Then she was a famous author and she let the critics and lack of sales take that away from her. Soon her own fears and anxieties lock her in her home. She is still writing though and needs an assistant and a professor connects her with Cam. Cam just lost a scholarship opportunity because she was afraid of speaking out against a harasser. She is not really writing the dissertation she wants to write because of her fears. She still has not come out to her mother so she does not advertise her “gayness” like she wants to. Fear is what they have in common, but their attraction is the unexpected bond which just might overcome that fear.

This is the third in a series and can be read as a stand alone as I did not know this was even part of a series “Romancing the Page”. It is a novella which is why I did not give a lot of detail above nor will I here. Laura Ambrose and Laura Lam bring a really solid romance to such a short tale in An Unheard Song. Annalie and Cam take the time to get to know each other and the attraction is not rushed. The sex is decent though not graphic and does not take place in the usual spot and the foreplay is unusual which I like. The story deals with the real issues of sexual harassment and anxiety. This is a story you can end the workday with and feel refreshed and believing in love again.

Turning 50 is hard enough, but try competing with your daughter for the hot bartender.

Blake Crystal is turning 50 and she has four daughters and a bad lover. Wait...got rid of the bad lover to hit on the very young bartender at the beginning of her birthday celebration. The problem is she has to compete with her very hot daughter Alexis, but she has her own problems with both of her lovers and any stray ones she happens to pick up along the way. Alexis also wants to know who her birth father is and demands answers from Blake. In the meantime, the young bartender is having his own problems with an ex, his best friend, and fighting off his own urges to resist or not resist the Crystal women.

Mary B. Morrison packs a lot in Baby, You're The Best, book one in “The Crystal Series”. Blake is a hot 50 dealing with the usual issues of 50 and she is not a perfect 50 and does not make excuses for it. Her daughters fight just as other kids fight even though they are adults. There are unexpected turns in the book, I will give a warning as there is a rape scene in the book. There is also some interesting sex scenes using props, but nothing too extreme. I enjoyed reading Morrison as she has imagination when it comes to plot twists and the sex scenes as she does not write the norm which is very refreshing. I do not know if I would read this in public as some of the sex scenes might have you squirming in your seat...or maybe you like that. (smile).

A woman out alone in the wild with three gorgeous men after ten years with no sex...what is a girl to do?

After 10 years in prison, Jennifer Jane (JJ) Watson is paroled out in the middle of nowhere working for three men living together in one cabin. The guys have no clue what to do with JJ other than have sex with her because they requested two men to work the ranch with them - not a woman who does not even know how to cook. It just takes one kiss though to start changing their minds and suddenly the guys start thinking of ways to keep JJ. JJ though is one step ahead of them at least in her dreams. When real life and dreams suddenly mix and the potential for all of them to be together is brought out into the open, they guys wait to see what JJ will decide.

I need to call Jan Springer and find out where I can find packages like the Cowboys for Christmas have because the way she describes them and the good time that JJ is having - I am a little bit jealous. Springer gives the story time for everyone to get to know each other and does not rush the sex scenes, nor does she rush the group sex. Some areas of the sexual act are not gone into in detail and she mainly sticks to female foreplay even when it gets to the group sex. The sex scenes are hot and I have to say I like Brady best so far. I just kept thinking details were missing and that could have been because the story is continued in other books and maybe Springer had to keep the words under a certain count. It could also be I have read too many sex scenes or have not read a good one in a while and want to know to know too much. Either way, you will enjoy this book if you like MFMM erotica.

Bookies, Runners, dead bodies, and wedding cakes are keeping things interesting in Morelville.

Sheriff Mel Crane and her fiancée Dana Rossi are trying to plan their future when a body literally falls out of a pickup truck the night before the big 4H Fair starts. In between, helping her niece and nephew showcase their animals and worry about her father's health, Crane has to find a murderer. During the crazy week of the 4H which turns out to be more than just showing animals as crime hits the fair, another body appears linked to the dead body. Crane is hopping from bar to bar chasing bookies and runners looking for answers and hitting dead ends and getting more questions. Meanwhile, Rossi is running around trying to plan their wedding and butting heads with Crane's family when she decides maybe going undercover is a good idea or maybe not.

Anne Hagan continues Mel and Dana's story in Hitched and Tied. This book is number four of “The Morelville Mysteries”, but it can be read as a standalone. The mystery is solid and brand new as are the characters linked to it. We meet yet another ex of Mel's which is interesting as her physical tastes do not seem to have a type. I find her family dynamics to be coming to light and a bit more complicated than what earlier books might have you think. Whereas, we meet Dana's family in this book and I would be very interested in seeing more of them and their affect on Mel's family. The sex is pretty standard for Hagan and is the same as previous books. Mel and Dana's personal relationship takes a back seat to the mystery this time around, which is surprising as their marriage is around the corner. The mystery is complicated though and Hagan gives it the attention it deserves. Oh and pssst...there might be a cliffhanger.

She went for a massage to relieve some stress from a messy divorce and got so much more.

It all started innocently enough when Rebecca Fowley goes to The Steam Room on the recommendation of a friend. She has just got through a nasty divorce and having to deal with her equally nasty ex-husband and his attorney. After several weeks of listening to the attendants chatter to her while getting massaged, she notices Alice due to how quiet and calm she is. She requests Alice so that she can finally have a silent massage not expecting to feel such strong sexual feelings at her first touch. Alice takes one look at Rebecca, her first solo client, and her panties get wet as Rebecca's body is a girl's dream come true. Alice manages to make it through the first massage without embarrassing herself and then Rebecca requests her services again.

Gigi Black adds the steam to this massage room and it is good for Rebecca all the way around. This is a short story, but it is packed with eroticism and plenty of detail. Black gives us both women's point of view which is nice as we can see how involved both women are with each other. This first book I imagine is the foreplay as the oral sex is light and other sexual acts are hinted at, but not fully realized. The story still gets an R rating for sex though due to the erotic details of the foreplay and that is what this story is: foreplay. Enjoy it!

A magic pill to make a girl fall in love with you goes slightly array when a straight girl has to use it on a girl.

Undercover Agent Information Retriever, Cara Hemlock, uses her sexual wiles on men to retrieve information and to ensure their cooperation she slips them The Love Pill so that they fall in love with her and readily comply. Then after three men fail with ad executive Lexi, Cara is sent to retrieve the information Lexi's father left her. Their initial meeting sparks an attraction that neither can deny, nor do they want to. Cara may insist that she is “straight”, but Lexi has her thinking about kissing more than her lips. Cara is stuck between feelings she has never felt before, but more than willing to drown in and her mission. Unfortunately for her, the boss weighs in and love does not matter where national security is questioned. What will happen when Lexi finds out or will Cara keep it from her and just disappear after she retrieves the information?

Cara fully embraces her feelings for Lexi, even though she insists the entire time that she is straight. She studies up on how to romance her from holding the door to taking her panties off. Lexi, on the other hand, looks at Cara and is already imagining the panty dropping. The chemistry between these two is great and the story takes place over the time as Arizona Tape does not rush their relationship or the sex. You are rooting for them even though you know Cara is going to betray Lexi because Tape tells their story from both sides so you can see how they are both invested in the relationship. The sex is more about the foreplay of kissing and nibbling than the actual event, but it is all very romantic and hot at the same time. They did not need the love pill and neither will you to fall in love with Lexi and Cara.

A visiting Detective is thrown into a bizarre case of what, not who, is killing people.

Detective Matilda White, a narcotics cop, is asked to come to the big city from the country to help investigate a sudden surge in drug use and the sudden disappearance of the undercover narcotics cop investigating the case. She is joined by a County narcotics Detective Leon, and a local cop Jacqueline. Upon her arrival, she is immediately driven to one homicide case after another as bodies appear with no obvious murder suspect or even knowledge of what kind of weapon was used. There are no leads, no suspects, and only body parts, but that is about to change as people start to kill each other including the cops.

Craig Steele is a very graphic writer, so be prepared when reading Time's Up: She's Breaking the Ice. He is also very detailed, the description of a decomposing body can be over a page long. He also has a warped sense of humor, or more his characters do as they are very quirky. Matilda wears head-to-toe costumes to bed such as a mouse. Leon makes very disgusting and funny jokes about dead bodies. Jacqueline soon gets in on the quirkiness and comes up with her own funniness. I also could not quite tell if Matilda and Jacqueline were on their way to becoming a couple or whether Jacqueline had been a couple with the missing detective. There are a lot of overtones or maybe because I am gay, I am seeing more than there is or maybe not. The novel is a quick read and the mystery does not go quite the way usual mysteries go, but probably more like real life cases work. I hope there is a sequel, but only if I get to see the lady crew again.

Lizzie and Sara welcome their first child in this story and to their surprise end up with many more additional family members.

Warning! Lizzie has grown since Book One and sorry to say you will not really get this book if you have not read the first two. To fully appreciate and understand the growth of Lizzie's character or the underlying emotions of the other characters involved you should know the backstories and therefore you should read the first two books before reading this one.

The whole crew is here for this book as everyone awaits the birth of Lizzie and Sara's first child. The first half of A Family Woman is focused on Lizzie's reactions to becoming a first-time parent and her lack of knowledge of children, how to be parent, or even part of a family makes her the butt of everyone's joke - some are quite funny as they are even over Lizzie's head. T.B. Markinson as usual cannot just let Lizzie deal with one huge issue though she has to throw in Maddie going through a mid-life crisis (at least that is what I am calling it). Peter going through a crisis and actually reaching out to Lizzie for help. Charles sharing a deep secret which rocks everyone's world. Lizzie getting writer's block and going back to work and oh let's not forget the additional new family/friends who are now part of the crew who know no boundaries - poor Lizzie. Did I also mention that Lizzie and Sara are expecting their first child? (laugh)

As to be expected with pregnancy and birth, there is very little sex or romance in this book - sorry ladies. There is a lot of family drama though, so much your head can spin as much as Lizzie's does. Markinson does know how to keep us busy keeping up with everything and flipping some character's personalities completely around though we are not really surprised. A Family Woman kind of gives us hope for Lizzie and Sara, but not much hope for everyone else.

I did think of an answer to the often asked Book Club question, “If you had to pick one character from the book to go to dinner with, who would you pick?” I would pick Casey, hands down, because she is a hoot and a holler.

One woman who loves two people suddenly dies leaving behind truths and lies for her loved ones to sort through while dealing with her death.

Jules Kanter is a wife, mother, and a journalist in love with her husband and her female lover, Erin. After Jules' death, her husband Will, finds out about Erin while going through Jules phone and confronts her. As Erin and Will deal with the fallout of Jules death and their feelings of anger, loss, betrayal, and pain, Jamie Klinger-Krebs takes us through each of their relationships with Jules - the good, the bad, and the ugly. We get to see through Will's eyes what his relationship was with Jules and how their marriage got to the point where Jules strayed. We also get to see Erin's point of view of falling in love with a woman she cannot have. Then we get to see Jules point of view through her writings and her realization of not being straight and coming to terms with her own sexuality.

This novel is about the growth of all of the individuals involved. This story involves rape, drug use, alcohol abuse, suicide, and depression. Yet for all of these dark topics, I was never triggered or drowned in that darkness. I am not quite sure how Klinger-Krebs did it, but On Burning Mirrors let's us as readers see their stories without drowning in them. The book does not promote adultery, but it does continuously promote being your best self and being able to look into that mirror and accepting yourself which is what Jules was trying to do if not for herself but for her daughter. Jules says at one point that falling in love taught her that she had to be true to herself and show her daughter that same path. I am not usually one to recommend a book about adultery, but I could not put this book down because this book is not about that - it is each person finding himself and I got to witness Jules, Erin, and Will's journey.
