❝Our love is stronger than time, greater than any distance. Our love spans across stars and worlds. I will find you again. I promise.❞
✑ I AM NOT OKAY!
✑ There's so much to process... I have so many questions.... Hunt, Ruhn, Baxian again, I AM NOT OKAY. Agent Day, like what?!? I most definitely DO NOT LIKE the River Queen and I definitely HATE the Asteris. Like wtf?!? Then that ending...BURNING SOLAS....
❝That's the point of it. Of life. To live, to love, knowing that it might all vanish tomorrow. It makes everything that much more precious.❞
❝We've been friends from the moment you thought Jelly Jubilee was a dildo.❞
✑ Wow this book was THICK! House of Blood and Earth has such intricate world building that I have to admit I was a little lost in the beginning. SJM broke my heart so many times in this book. There was so many plot twist that I was left saying “WHAT?!?” Danika, Connor, the rest of the pack of seven devils... we were finally giving Connor a chance!....Then that happened, like WTF? I absolutely adored Lehabah and syrinx.
✑ Bryce Quinlan is a total bad ass half fae-half human that can kick some ass. I love her personality, her loyalty and she can wear some heels. Then we meet Hunt Athalar, a really powerful angel with lightning powers. I love the friendship between Byrce and Hunt ♡ Their acceptance of each other.
✑ Then there's Ruhn Danaan and Tharion Ketos, I love Ruhn's love for his sister. Ruhn do go to the ends of the earth to save her. Tharion is just an awesome mer that I seem to really like plus he sent an otter to Bryce, a freakin otter, I would have squeeled with her too.
❝I've needed you from the moment I first met you. And now that I get to have you, I don't want to stop.❞
❝ That's the key, isn't it? To know the darkness will always remain, but how you choose to face it, handle it ... that's the important part. To not let it consume. To focus upon the good, the things that fill you with wonder. ❞
❝Sweetheart, I am not a devil. I am the devil.❞
✑ Wow!!! This book just... I'm speechless. Holy crap! I absolutely love it and I cannot wait for the 2nd book...
✑ What else could you asked for? It's got wolves, vampires, vipers, demons, human.
✑ Let's talk about Darien Cassel... all I can say is, I want a Darien in my life. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM. The devil, the devil that isn't quite what he seems to be. The pretty bad boy who has a tortured past that doesn't think he deserves being happy.
✑ Then there's Loren Calla, a badass human, struggling to survive in a city full of supernatural creatures yet hunted by every darkslayer you could possibly imagine and one of her friends is taken instead of her. Loren is willing to do anything to save her friend even if it meant working with Darien Cassel, the leader of the Seven Devils, the most feared circle in the city. Loren doesn't quite understand why she's been haunted, after all she's just HUMAN.
✑ I devoured this book in a few days or maybe it devoured me? I honestly couldn't put this book down. I felt like I was in Angelthene. The City of Gods and Monsters was full of action, some world building, flirting and that slow burn and when there's spice, there's spice! Then I was crying, Loren's pain was bone deep... Have I mentioned slow burn? I was hurting for them BUT it was worth it, it was all worth it. That ending mind blown like what?!? I'm so happy for them and for her.
✑ Have I mentioned I love Darien???
✑ I knew that this book was going to be sad but I didn't think I'd cry so much and just be emotionally wrecked! This book just broke my heart and mended it together.
✑ Reminders of him is being told in Ledger and Kenna's POV. Was there instant attraction? Most definitely. There was even a little bit of spice BUT this book was more than that. It was forgiveness and acceptance. I understood why everyone felt and did the things they did. Scotty's parents were good people, Ledger was good but so is Kenna.
❝Maybe the best way to cope with the loss of the people we love is to find them in as many places and things as we possibly can.❞
TW: choking, murder, torture, physical assault, kidnapping, MENTIONS of pedo/sexual abuse/physical assault of a minor
❝ Every night.❞❝ And straight on ‘til morning.❞
phew
This book was dark.
HOT!
❝ And to think, it all started with a little bit of faith.Misplaced trust.Missing Pixie dust. And a villain who just needed to steal a little love. ❞
✑ Did I cry a few times? By the cauldrons, yes, yes I did.
✑ A court of wings and ruins was sad, it was hopeful, it was definitely emotional. I absolutely love Feyre and Rhysand's dynamics ♡ I think they have become one of my favorite couple.
✑ Rhysand's battlefield speech.... THAT BROKE ME.... Mor, I just hope she gets what she deserves in the end. I am glad that Feyre listened and accepted. I certainly hope Mor tells Azriel soon though. Honestly, I want the best for ALL of the court of dreamers family.
✑ Then there's Nesta, she's got some fire in her! I mean she's always had it prior to being transformed. Honestly, it really did take awhile for me to start liking her. But she's always got that mask. She cares too deeply but certainly does not show it. I actually can't wait to hear what happens with her and Cassian.
✑ This book wreck me but I loved the plot line. The Fae and the human fought for together as one! For the future, for their people. It has certainly become one of my favorite.
ACOFAS was a little slow in the beginning for me BUT it was a fast read. It's like a little filler book, that story in between. The book made me laught and made me sad. I liked that we get a little glimpse of Cassian's past from his POV as well as what happened to Mor at the autumn court from her POV. I adored the dinner scene during the Solstice because of how ridiculously funny Cassian was. Then there's Nesta. She seems so broken. I can't completely decide whether I like her or not, ugh!
✑ This was a little slow burn romance for me hahaha I mean they flirted a lot, but you know what I mean. And that spice, that slow burn was definitely worth it! ACOMAF has just the perfect amount of spice, action, friendship, family and everything in between. Did I stay up till early in the morning to finish this book last night? Yes, yes I did.
✑ I can see why ACOMAF is mostly everyone's favorite in this series. WOW. Seeing Feyre struggling with her own darkness and coming out of it with a little help from Rhysand but mostly from herself. What a character development and I'm here for it! Then there's Rhysand, struggling with his own darkness but still there for his people. I absolutely love his character ♡
✑ I love Velaris. I love Cassian, Amren, Azriel and Mor. Honestly, I just love this book! Also, chapter 54, wow just wow. Rhys ♡
✑ Don't even get me started with Lucien, that high lord needs a reality check, ASAP! Lucien, oh Lucien, you could have done so much more...
• Henri is the “Beast”. Marguerite is “Belle” but instead of loving books, she loves painting and is a painter. Henri has been curse along with everyone in the chateau. For him to break the curse, he must find true love and be love in return.
Can the curse be broken in time?
✑ Enchanting Fate is a Beauty and the Beast retelling and since this is my first time reading a retelling I actually didn't know what to expect. I never actually realized how much of an ass was the prince before he was cursed. This book just opened my eyes on that aspect.
✑ Enchanting Fate has some similarities and differences with beauty and beast. Of course, there's the curses, breaking the curse by one's true love and the rose (except this one has a garden of rose). Instead of turning into furnitures, Henri's valet and helpers, were all turned into animal like creatures. The book also took true love to a different perspective, not what you'd expect from a beauty and beast retelling. But, I like it because it's different.
✑ I do appreciate that we as readers were able to see Henri's past and why he turned out the way he is. I was happy with the ending because true love did after all, win. The best character development that I thoroughly enjoyed was Henri's.
✑ Did I mention that Lou and Reid has been through so much obstacles? It's like one after the other. They just can't get a break, it's ridiculous. I guess its true what they say, that nothing worth it is easy. Or was it Ansel that said it? Anyways, I have never rooted for Lou so much until this final battle.
✑ Have I also mentioned that I grew fond of Beau? Of how proud I was with Jean Luc and Celie's character development? And how much I hated Auguste, that bastard!
✑ Gods and Monsters has been quite a ride. I was honestly a little scared to start it because I knew how it intense of a ride it was going to be, based on the previous books. This book made me laugh, sad, and made me felt hopeful BUT omfg, did I get mad!!! I mean what in the actual fuckery... Did I skim through several pages ahead because I needed to know what would happen next? Yes, yes I did.
Death is known by many names: Thanatos, Azreal, God's last angel. Human kind is set to perish and not even his brothers can stop Death from fulfilling his final task.
Can humanity be saved?
Death concludes the four horsemen series and it has been enjoyable journey... I was so glad to see Pestilence, War and Famine and their brotherly love! That ending, that epilogue. WOW. Did I cry a little? YES, YES I DID. Laura Thalassa couldn't have ended this series in a better way.
Did I mention that I absolutely LOVE his wings. It was also nice to see Death's POV in this apocalyptic world.
If you like books with:
• Fake Marriages
• Witches
• Enemies to lovers trope
• Forbidden love
• A little spice
You might just like this book, if you haven't already read it.
A witch and a witch hunter bound in holy matrimony. There was only one way such a story could end – a star and a match.
Review. I honestly don't remember if I've ever read any books involving witches. So, I guess this would be my first time and let me just tell you that it did not disappoint! Serpent and Dove drove me crazy! There's so much anticipation and I just wanna know what happens next??? There's action, romance, and friendship. This book had me smiling but it also broke my heart. It had me saying oh my god a lot...
With all the burning, hunting, and staking witches. The book kind of reminded me of the witch trial waaaay back in the day. You know that one that happened in Salem? Anyone that was suspected of being a witch was put through a trial and burned alive or imprisoned IF found “guilty”.
Let's talk about Louise le Blanc, a witch who fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine. I loved Lou's character. She's feisty, vulgar, and carefree. But, she's also really really brave. I mean could you imagine being born to only have that purpose? I also really loved her friendship with Coco. Coco was there for Lou no matter the circumstances. That's true friendship right there.
Then there's Reid, a Chasseur (a witch hunter). Who ends up in a fake marriage with Lou due to some special circumstances. I absolutely adored Reid's protectiveness over his wife.
“You're my wife now, whether we like it or not. No man will ever touch you that way again.”
Five freakin' Famine stars ★★★★★
Okay.
I think this just might be my FAVORITE book from the Four Horsemen series.
I absolutely love Ana's character. She is feisty, strong and compassionate. Ana also has a very, very dirty mouth. The girl has been through so much shit in her life. You see, Ana has already met Famine when she was so much younger. Years later, she crosses paths with Famine. If he remembered her, he doesn't quite show it. You see Ana was left for dead after being stabbed. Except, she doesn't quite die. Ana seeks out Famine for revenge. For what he did to her.
I actually really enjoyed Famine and Ana's banter. I also like that we, as readers, got to hear Famine's POV. I mean, I definitely did not expect that. This book had me in tears. I could feel their pain, what they both have been through was just inhuman and horrible.
That ending!
I certainly cannot wait to start reading about the last horseman.
I was given a copy of this eARC for my honest opinion.
• Frozen Hearts and Death Magic was one of those books that I had to put down quite a few times because ugh I just can't deal sometimes. I got frustrated. Not because the book was bad, but because I was sooo invested into the characters, to the book. I highly, highly recommend this to anyone!
• I really really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to buy the printed version because look at that cover 😍 plus the plot is amazing.
——-
It all started with a kiss.
Frozen Hearts and Death Magic is what i would consider medium paced. It wasn't too slow, but it wasn't too fast. The book is being told by multiple POV: Naia, River, Fel, Leah, and Azir (Naia and Fel's father). I am usually not a fan mutiple POV, but the author does a REALLY GREAT JOB at making it all work together. It was so easy to follow.
The book was inspired by telenovela but in a YA romantic fantasy version and boy it did not disappoint. It had so much family drama, betrayal, secrets, revelations. It was like watching a literal telenovela, the ones that are so good that you can't wait for the next episode. I never thought I could get so frustrated of what was happening IN A BOOK but then again I never thought I could hate a character so much! But, this book accomplished just that. The author does such an awesome job dropping bombs on those revelations that I kinda saw coming but still shookt meeee..
If you like books that have:
• Multiple POV
• Instant attraction
• Fae
• Family drama
• Mysterious magic
• Forbidden love
• Enemies to lovers
This book might just be for you!
I'm not too fond of that cover which took a little point off the 5-star.
“I couldn't find the words to say goodbye to someone I had only just begun to say hello to.”
I devoured this book in one day. The waiting room was more profound than I expected. It's more than just Kat's first love and romance. It was more than just the instalove/instacrush. It was dealing with grief. Of losing a parent. Of how to let go. How can someone move on from a loved one's death?
Will she heal from the trauma of her father's death?
The book goes back and forth between the present and past, which is Kat's memories of her father's death. The transition is flawless. Then there's Kat's mom, who still hasn't grieved properly. I disliked how Kat's mother treats her; it's as if she doesn't her kat whenever Kat gives her opinion. She only hears what she wants to hear while pushing what SHE WANTS to her daughter. IT JUST ISN'T FAIR.
The flirtation between Ian and Kat is so cheesy that it makes you smile and cringe simultaneously. I enjoyed Ian's personality. He is funny, flirtatious, and makes you smile. Plus, he's HOT.
That ending felt like a cliffhanger, and I need answers.
I was given this ARC by the publisher in return for an honest review.
Jealousy is so powerful.Jealousy can really make someone do some crazy shit.
Relic and Ruin is a book about the Necromancers and the Reapers.
The Banshee and the Wraith.
Nyx Lahey, a necromancer, was raised a Reaper. Erebus Salem, a hunter with the ability to turn into a raven to escape danger. Erebus, harbors a secret, he's not alive. He also does not remember who he was and where he came from. All he knows is his name and his only connection to his past is his locket. He lives in Dewmort, an in-between world, a city of unfinished business where the souls of the supernatural resides. While chasing a ghost that is killing young girls, Nyx unexpectedly runs into Erebus Salem. Erebus loses his locket while on the hunt, which ends up in Nyx's hands. Determined to get it back, Erebus along with his friends keeps an eye on Nyx. But, they aren't the only ones lurking in the shadows. Bellum wants the Relics for his own purpose. Soon Nyx and Erebus are being hunted by Bellum and must avoid being captured.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and had to keep going to find out what is happening. This was a fast pace, adventurous book full of supernatural creatures and action. It was dark and intense. It even got a little gory. The book follows three different worlds: Earth, the Hallows, and Dewmort. I absolutely love all the characters, well except for the villains (but who likes villains anyway?). I LOVE the dynamic between Nyx and Erebus.
HOWEVER, the book feels a little rush. I felt like we were given a little information about the world before moving on again to another one. Also, since there's so many characters, more character development would have been great. The author provides a little background but that's about it. There were some characters that didn't even have a background story. I also felt a little confuse at times while reading a book when it goes from past to present perspective? Like what?
With all that being said. I STILL ENJOYED THIS BOOK. That ending. That ending got me ugly crying emotional.
As always, Trinity, amazes me.
“There is always hope if one has faith.”
Emphasis on anything.
soooo much.
The girl has been through a lot.
annoying
all the right things.
it got cheesy to the point I eye rolled so hard. BUT, I get it she is like head over heels IN LOVE, and I couldn't blame her since Zayne did just get back.
I have to admit that I'm quite fond of Lucifer and his obsession over Supernatural. I can't really blame him since I'm a big fan of that show as well. I mean come on its Sam and Dean. I was also happy to see Roth, Layla, and Cayman again.
Anyways, the last bit of the book had me ugly crying in tears. There was so much emotion going on.... And that plot wist. MINDBLOWN. Like WOW. That honestly surprise me, but its what got me ugly crying emotional.
Without giving out any spoilers, here's what the book is about and what I thought about it.
This book is extra extra spicy much like its sequel. But I feel that this is spicier?
★ ★★ ★
War has woken up.
Okay. This book was a slow start for me, maybe because I have not move one from Pestilence and Sarah. So, it took a little while to like War and Miriam. But I eventually grew fond of them.
This book was brutal. It is about War and in war there's blood, death and well oddly enough zombies well the undead. The book takes place in the Middle East.
When War first saw Miriam Elmahdy, he just instantly knew that she was his wife. It was like predestined by God or something. Miriam is a total BADASS. She can fight, make weapons, and fend for herself. It's not like she had a choice. War is everything that Miriam is fighting against. War and Miriam had a love-hate relationship. It's not like War is the most charming “man” to be with. War is well war. Oh, he is also capable of raising the dead and just like the other horseman, he can't die, not really. I did like War's character development and that ending, I am so happy for that ending!
Love and war cannot coexist.
Is War willing to surrender for Miriam and vice-versa?
Oh, Pestilence did get mention in this book! He doesn't show up but War does talk about him.
WOW, okay.
I started this book not fully knowing what is about. I saw a quote from one of the series and thought interesting, adding it to my TBR.
I didn't think I'd actually LIKE this book. It brought so much mixed emotions. This book made me laugh and it made me sad. I never thought that I would be tearing up while reading this book tbh.
This book was a quick read for me. Medium paced. There's definitely SPICE in it, not cringe, but enough SPICE.
★ ★ ★ ★
The apocalypse is upon earth.
The Four Horsemen have arrived to destroy all of humanity.
Pestilence, War, Death, and Famine.
Pestilence carries with him a deadly plague that kills all humans wherever he goes. The plague itself is very unsightly and slowly kills a person. Pestilence had a duty and purpose when he was created UNTIL one day, he comes across Sarah Burns.
Sarah Burns is one of the firefighters that stayed behind to help save her hometown and family. She ended up being the one left behind to kill off Pestilence. Sarah shots and burns Pestilence. He begged her, but she ignored his plea.BUT, you see no one mentioned that Pestilence cannot be killed. Now, she's got a very pissed off horseman that has taken her captive. Will he show mercy for humanity? Compassion? Only way to find out is to read the book.
I love both Pestilence and Sarah. She's funny and compassionate, while, he might not be likable at the beginning I did learn to like him just like Sarah learn to care for him. I also grew to LOVE Trixie Skillz (I think I spelled that wrong). I felt for Pestilence and what he had to go through. I HATED THE WAY THE HUMANS TREATED HIM. I do understand that he literally is bringing death upon them, but the humans were TOO CRUEL even to Sarah. They burned him, they shot him, heck they even refused to help Sarah. I know, I know humans were just mad, but I can't honestly say they didn't deserve what they got when they were so vile.
“Love is the greatest gift we can give or receive.”
Rob and Ruth.
Hell, even Pestilence tended to them because they welcomed him, showed him compassion, they welcomed death. They were not like other humans. They weren't vile. But, in the end, they too perished from the plague.
WOW
First off, I honestly didn't think I'd enjoy this book because I wasn't a big fan of the sequel.
Anyways.....
If you are reading this, then you must have read storm and fury. Trinity now lives in DC with Zayne and Zayne is now her bonded protector.
First, let's talk about Trinity. I wasn't a big fan of her in the sequel but I kind of admire her now. She's a total bad ass! Plus she helped Roth saved BAMBI
”I was the Sword of Michael”
I snorted. Like a piglet. Hot.
She has been through a lot of shit.
When she first met Stacey, the first thing Stacey asked was when she was going to leave.I mean how rude could that be? Not even a hi or nice to meet you. Anyways, Trinity feels left out and invisible when Stacey, Layla and Roth came over to Zayne's apartment
actually tell her thing so she'd know?
The Harbinger is coming
Peanut meets someone that can also interact with ghost, then Sam's spirit actually shows up in Zayne's apartment. He has been following Stacey, trying to tell her not to go back to school because it was bad juju.
it's forbidden for a trueborn to have a relationship with their protector but no one knows why.
Are they willing to risk it?
Stacey and Sam.
I was completely surprise on who the Harbinger was. I did NOT see that coming.
I don't even know where to start.
This book is a spin off of Dark Elements (which I highly suggest on reading). The book focuses on Zayne and Trinity.
Trinity is half human half angel. Trinity, is special not because only because of what she is but also because of her ability to see and interact with ghosts and spirits. She is nearly blind, but doesn't let that get in her way. While I admit that she is a total badass, I find her quite annoying. She is so nosy and very impulsive. I do find it impressive that doesn't let her retina pigmentosa get in the way. She will fight and does it well, even when she can barely see.
Zayne, where do I even begin? If you've read the dark element series you'll get an understanding why he is the way he is. Zayne has a lot of secrets of his own. I felt bad for Zayne, but he feels hot and cold in this book. One day he's shut off, you can't even tell what he's thinking then the next day he's up and flirting with Trinity. You can clearly see that he is not remotely close to moving on.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Zayne's clan arrived at the compound where Trinity lives looking for reinforcements. Something is killing both wardens and demons. There's a breach in the compound of where Trinity lives and Zayne is staying. Misha, Trinity's protector, get kidnapped by the intruders. To save her family, Trinity will have to trust Zayne and join him in DC.
“Just because we are told something is right doesn't mean it is.”
very very slow, it just dragged on, for me.
some action
I did enjoy seeing Roth, Layla, Cayman and even Bambi.
but didn't need multiple chapters of just them talking.
I was looking for that action and it was barely there.
Roth
I am going to read the next book, maybe just maybe it might get interesting.
It took me longer than I'd like to admit to finish this book mainly because I had school and well honestly, I got kinda bored of the book.
Louisa has a part of his father within her. Let's call it a spirit of some kind. Although he helps her become stronger, he also is very DARK and craves for blood, blood, and blood. Louisa is accompanied by Khent and Mary in this book. The book is in Louisa's perspective and it flops to Dalton Spicer's journal. I honestly felt that the book only got interesting after getting through half of it. Louisa along with Khent, Mary, Dalton, Fathom and Mother goes back to Coldthistle to find it in ruins. Louisa goes to the tomb of ancients to get rid of the white book.
Also that epilogue! Is that kid who I think it is? Is Dahlia, Louisa and Khent's kid?
3.75 stars because it had a start slow for me. Hopefully, you'll enjoy it more, more than I did! I think I only enjoyed about a quarter of the book which is basically towards the end? Might be an unpopular opinion.
An overview on the whole series Not even really a review but more of a thought?
First off, I enjoyed the entire series and read it in a week... Layla (Layla-bug/shortie) half warden half demon is a total badass AFTER she finally accepted who she truly was. I was sort of annoyed by her really really low self esteem. Is it just me?
And goodness, I feel for ZAYNE, heck my heart broke for him but I WAS TEAM ROTH the entire time. Roth, I love his snarky-ness and let's be honest he MOSTLY told truth except when he tried protecting Layla on the 2nd book. Roth is sooooo swoon worthy while Zayne is a total good guy. Layla and Roth just vibed, I simply like their romance chemistry together. Layla and Zayne felt a little awkward? Maybe because I've seen how awkward she was around Zayne on the 1st book, heck even on the 2nd book. I don't know the romance chemistry wasn't there unlike Roth and Layla
Familiars did I mentioned that I love all the familiars and there cute little Disney names? Bambi is of course my favorite, next to Robin. I also love Thumper and the way he throws a tantrum at Roth after being let out to eat some Alphas. Let's not forget the cute little kittens! Honestly, I wish I had a familiar that would be kind of cool!
