This was my first book written by Rachel Van Dyken, but it won't be my last. I loved the writing style and how the story was presented. It grabbed my attention, I actually only started listening to it because I had a spare 30 minutes... and I got lost in it for 3 hours, I was so engrossed. I wanted to know what was going to happen next, who was going to get the happy ever after.

So, I bought this book without reading the synopsis, something I rarely do, because, well, I'm picky. Then I read the synopsis and kinda deflated, I don't like humiliation at the best of times, but especially if centered around weight. I just can't. Of course, I had already started listening to it, so I figured I'd give it a chance. HOLY CRAP!!!!! This book was NOTHING like I expected. I can't say that a love triangle is the type of trope I've ever sought out, but in this instance, it was done so well that I couldn't help but love it. Both guys had something about them that was charming and lovable. Clearly, I'm not going to be able to say too much about the book and events because that would be a huge spoiler and you really don't want this spoiling. You want to have this play out for you and stay on the edge, not knowing who Emerson is going to end up with.

These characters are fantastic. I love them all so much, they each bring something fun and compelling to the story. The banter between them is so fun. A couple of standout characters that are more in the background were Kinsey and Jax. A sister/ brother combo that is fun and I can't wait to see where their characters are taken and what happens, especially after that epilogue. And Jax, man, I need that guy's story and pronto. I may be a little in love.

Emerson is my spirit animal, I don't know how she chose. I couldn't even decide for her. I was so torn. She's strong, stronger than I think she even gives herself credit for. She had a dream and even though she could have given it up, she didn't. She kept fighting.
Sanchez was everything you thought he'd be and nothing you thought he'd be, I wanted to dislike him, I mean, come on, he's a cocky football player who makes a bet every season on getting a cheerleader into bed and he's set his sights on the ‘bigger' girl. He's an ass, and he turns that around so quick I think we get whiplash. You watch the change in him and it's really quite beautiful. You can't help but sit there and hope he doesn't get his heart broken. I was rooting for him to get the girl.
Miller, sigh, I loved him, I got mad at him and I fell for him all over again. He's so sweet, to begin with, every girl needs a friend like Miller, but then he's so angry when he first encounters Emerson again and you really don't know why, but as time goes on that attraction is undeniable and you're sure they're going to kiss and make up. And, yeah, I was also rooting for him to get the girl too. I wanted the second chance romance.

The relationship between the three main characters is compelling and you really don't know which way it's going to go until close to the end, and then a twist is thrown in to try and throw you off course. Here is a little spoiler, this book does not contain a lot of sex, if you're hoping for the ‘players' to be getting it on every chapter, I'm sorry, but this isn't that book. Sexual tension, yes, heaps and heaps of sexual tension. This is a book that is very much character driven, my favourite, it's about how each of them deals with, accept and move on from the past. It's a story about friendship. Another thing I love about this book is that the guy that doesn't get the girl doesn't settle, he doesn't get a runners-up prize so to speak.

This is the first performance I've heard by Summer Morton, but it will not be the last. I thought she was a fantastic choice for Emerson and handled both Miller and Sanchez really well too. I'm always nervous when I'm introduced to a female narrator, I'm so picky about what I like and male voices performed by a female are always a toughy, but I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be keeping an eye out for more.

Jeremy York was as wonderful as ever. I could listen to him for hours, oh wait, I did. He really brings the emotions of the characters to the forefront. Although I did like all of the different voices, he was just so perfect as Miller it's hard to comment on the others. Miller's character experiences so many different emotions throughout this book and Jeremy brings each and every one of them to live and gives them a sense of realism that is hard to match.

So, as mentioned above I was super excited that Aiden Snow was narrating this book. In fact, he was the main reason I ran to audible. There I was listening away, tapping my fingers and doing the whole ‘Aiden, Aiden, where is Aiden' speech in my head. Aiden Snow turns up in chapter 34, yes, you read that right, chapter THIRTY-FOUR!!!! I want to be mad about this, I want to curse the author and audible for not warning me about this. However, listen to chapter 34 and tell me that was not one of the best chapters in this book, not just the performance, but the emotion, that chapter alone sums up this book and why I'm not so mad. Aiden Snow is the perfect choice for Grant Sanchez, he has that deep, gruff sexiness going on that just fits the character. The way he conveyed the emotion the characters were experiencing was wonderful and effective. Did I mention sexy-time also ensued? And dammmmmmn, yep, the perfect voice for that. Trust me, even though Aiden narrates 4 chapters it actually enhances the story hearing those chapters from Sanchez' POV and in a different voice.

I have struggled over this review, more than I ever have any others. I contemplated not reviewing it at all. Contrary to what some people believe reviewers/ bloggers don't like to be negative, but we also don't feel the need to give everything 5 stars. Which is why, in the end, I've decided to write this review, because I committed to it and I've always been honest and I hope fair, in my reviews.

Alexander Stone is a wealthy businessman who takes a shine to Krystina Cole, both have sworn off relationships but sex? They can do no strings sex, surely that's ok? Only Alexander has certain expectations when it comes to sex that Krystina may not be able to deliver. The chemistry they feel for each other is enough to make them question everything. Will they be able to overcome the odds and make their unconventional relationship work or will their secrets ruin things before they can really start?

I have to start by saying this story was not my cup of tea, the subject yes, but not the execution. I felt the story had great promise and at the beginning, I enjoyed it and thought it was a book I was going to love, it pains me to say that it didn't work out that way. I had so many issues with how certain elements were handled. That, of course, is personal opinion and I'm sure many will read or listen to it and enjoy it. It was well written and although I don't like to compare books, I will say that I think if you're a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey you'll like this book.

Alexander and Krystina literally bump into one another and the chemistry is there, they meet again and flirting ensues. Krystina needs a job and that job comes in the form of an offer from Alexander... with perks, he's a dominant not looking for love but a sub he can spend a few nights with. Krystina is not a sub, she's not a sub when he suggests it, and she's not a sub throughout the book, she's a woman mesmerised by a man who doesn't take the time to explain things to her properly; things he wants, things he expects, and then he gets upset when she doesn't act like a sub and questions him.

When I started listening to this book I liked Alexander but as the story progressed I took a dislike to him. He kept talking about trust like it was something that he could demand and Krystina would give, without question and without it being a two-way street. I'm sorry but it doesn't work that way. The more he demanded the more I started to dislike him. I didn't understand his need to keep his secrets so close to his chest, especially with someone he was falling for.
I liked Krystina, for me, she was a light in this story. She was sweet, yet strong, and knew what she did and didn't want. I did get frustrated a few times when I wanted her to be firmer and stand her ground. The reveal of her secret was a pivotal moment in the story and for her as a character and it touched my heart.

The relationship between them was baffling, it was like neither of them knew what they really wanted. So much happened, in such a short space of time, it was hard to keep track of all the ups and downs. The sex scenes were steamy, well written and played a pivotal role in the story.

Jeffrey Kafer was great in this book, his performance of Alexander was fantastic. He transitions smoothly from the male and female POV and really draws you into the story.
I enjoyed Lacy Laurel's performance of Krystina, I thought she had a great voice for her. When it came to Alexander I did have to increase the speed, but once I did I found I could enjoy it that little bit more. The part of the performance that really stood out for me was when Krystina was revealing her secret, the emotion and determination conveyed in the performance was beautiful.
However, the contrast between Lacy and Jeffrey is so stark that I feel the narration would have been better as a duet or if the book had only one narrator. Because Jeffrey has a deep baritone, so the switch between the two was so shockingly different that it took away a little from the story.

I adored this book, and so much more than I expected to. I was hooked very early on. I was invested in the characters and their story. I wanted to know what was going to happen. Although this starts as an office romance it's so much more than that. In fact, only the first portion of the book is set in the office. It's a contemporary romance with a twist. It has moments of suspense that will have you holding your breath. You'll cheer and you'll cry. It really is the complete package. Nicole Garcia really blew me away with this book, she writes characters that you can't help but become invested in and a storyline that will keep you on your toes. This book is so incredibly well written, I cannot wait to read more.

When I started listening and was like, yeah, an office romance, let's see how this is going to play out. It was cute, Nico was grumpy and Phoenix didn't take his crap, I just knew I was going to love it. And then things escalated, something happens to Phoenix that turns the story completely upside down and back to front and it's perfect. That's when you see a different side to Nico and let me tell you, he is swoon-worthy. I really didn't anticipate the suspense aspect of this book, it threw me for a loop and it was great, I love that we didn't know, I mean, I guessed who it was, the clues were there, but the reasoning, that's what I wanted to know and I liked how it was more a backdrop to the story and not the main focus, it was very clever.

Nico is such complex character, I honestly didn't know whether to love him or curse him, I found myself doing both and often. He was a grumpy arse that needed to learn some manners, but then he was a sweetheart that I couldn't help but swoon over. He has secrets that he's kept hidden and they're eating away at him, even though he doesn't realise it. It's not until Phe becomes a part of his life that he starts to cope. He's built such a wall around his heart that he tends to overreact and underthink things...nobody can be perfect! His jealousy is quite endearing as is his ability to apologise when he knows he's in the wrong.
Phoenix, I just adored her. I could relate to her on so many levels. She was strong, sweet, smart and vulnerable. She didn't take any crap. Her interactions with both Nico's nana and father was sweet and really showed what a kind-hearted person she is and why it was so easy for Nico to fall for her. And for his family to adopt her as their own. She puts up with a lot from Nico but she understands he has those walls built high, she's not afraid to scale them and wear him down. Her character experiences a lot in this book and not all of it is good, but she comes out stronger because of it. She's a rock star and I love her!

The supporting characters were a welcome addition; Gio, Josh, and Derrick each was very different but brought so much to the story and the dynamics of Nico and Phe's relationship. I loved them and the interactions, I'd love to read/ listen to more about them. Nana, nana was a freaking star and her health issues were handled beautifully, it's a horrid disease and it was handled sensitively. Which was lovely to see.

The chemistry between Nico and Phe is crazy. You just know they're meant to be together and want to bang their heads together at times. Some of the sex scenes fade to black, which I liked, it saved the full-blown sex scenes for when they were necessary and I really liked that about this book. It didn't use sex as a filler to make the book longer or to shock when it was called for, the sex was there... and let me tell you, it was hot and written incredibly well. You won't want to be in a public place.

Firstly, if you're looking for a fluffy, hearts and flowers romance, this is not the book for you. This is not your typical romance novel, it is something, new and different. The way forward in my opinion. However, if you like twists and intrigue and an intense story, pick this beauty up today!

I think King of Code just became my favourite book this year. This book kept me on my toes, just when I thought I had it figured out CD Reiss changed things up and had me guessing again. She has created a book that is unique, intelligent and sexy as hell. I love that she doesn't talk down to her readers, she knows we're a smart bunch and treats us as such. She doesn't explain every little thing, just enough to give you an ‘a-ha' moment. She dropped so many clues throughout this book that I feel like I need to go back and listen to it all over again so I can pick up on the ones I missed, because she does it so subtly that if you're not looking for them, you'll likely miss them, and I freaking love it! Yes, the story includes code talk, the title kind of gives that away, right? But it isn't overdone, again, just enough to give you an idea of what the characters are experiencing. This book has so many different elements; friendship, small-town life, love, understanding, redemption, it literally has something for everyone.

I loved these characters so much. Each one was so different. Firstly, the man of the hour, Taylor Harden, the entire book is from his POV and it worked brilliantly, I loved being in his mind throughout all the events in the book and knowing what and how he was thinking. He had that commanding presence but was also very sweet and kind-natured. I liked that he struggled with some of the demands Harper had, that he didn't just jump into sleeping with her, considering what had happened up to that point.
Harper was an interesting character, to be honest, I didn't know whether to like her or not. However, the more I got to know her, the more I liked her. The devotion she had from the residents of Barrington was one of the reasons that I had to stop and think ‘she can't be that bad'. She was crazy for sure but vulnerable, more vulnerable than she let people believe. I ended up absolutely adoring her. I liked that we didn't know her reasoning, that we found out when Taylor did, in little dribs and drabs. It made her character even more interesting and made me so much more invested in the story. I HAD to know why!!!!!!
The secondary characters really enriched this story, Keaton who was kind of scary but in a, you don't mess with my friend kind of way, plus he's British and you know I have to support my fellow countryman. Taylor's ‘people' and Harper's sister, Catherine were executed brilliantly and gave more understanding and definition to the main characters.

The town of Barrington played a huge role in this book, it was like a character all of its own. I loved that, I loved seeing how all the residents cared for and protected each other. The way they all worked together, even though they were struggling. It was beautiful and it was easy to fall in love with the town and the residents along with Taylor.

Taylor and Harper's relationship was one of beauty as it progressed and at times, it was funny and crazy and even sad. Of course, this is CD Reiss we're talking about so you know the sex was off the charts steamy, but, as always, it played a part, there was always a reason, it was never just to steam up someone's kindle or audible app.

Homeward Bound is the debut book from Golden Czermak (say what?!?!) and it blew me away. He has created a world so completely that it allows you to build such a vivid picture in your mind that you're fully immersed in the story. His descriptive style of writing makes it so easy to imagine everything that is happening and what everyone and everything looks like. The action is written so wonderfully that I got very invested in the outcome, maybe a little too much at times. Shouting at your phone is normal, right?
This book is not just something PNR fans will love, but romance fans in general. At the heart of this story is a relationship between three friends, they just happen to fight the bad guys...and they aren't human.

These characters are freaking awesome! Joey is such a sweetheart, I loved him from the get go. He's a smart, strong badass. Ady is one kick ass woman! So, you know, I adored her, she's beautiful and deadly, she could handle her own in a fight. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Gage, he's your typical alpha male, but he isn't, he's funny and charming, self-assured yet has a vulnerable side. I loved that, he is such a great character to read about, I'm sure he was just as much fun to write too. The interactions between the three of them were fun. I had many laugh out loud moments. The Noctis made great ‘bad guys' they did things that had me gasping in shock and shaking my head in disbelief, but then I remember they're the bad guys and it wasn't so shocking anymore. I liked the conflict between them and envision lots more action.

I loved the friendship between Gage, Ady and Joey, the tension and unrequited feelings. The way each individual dealt with and reacted to each situation. The humour really gave this book an added element and blended really well with the action and romance. The romance was sweet, seeing Gage and Ady interact and although they were friends they still had so much to learn about each other, and those moments of them getting to know each other were cute and heartfelt. The sex scenes are as hot as hades. Gage Crosse is a talented man! That bathroom scene though.... you know the one I mean. If you haven't read it yet, we'll talk 😉

The end of the book had me so mad, I literally looked at my phone and said WTF? I'm not ashamed to say in my mind I was plotting ways in which to hurt Golden, I mean, come on! Why!?!?!?! Evil I tell you, he is evil!! LOL, in the best way possible. The book evoked so many different emotions and reactions out of me, I felt like I was on one heck of a wild ride, and really, I was.

Stevie, the Ghostface killer is sent on a simple mission, find her mark and kill him, easy, she's done it plenty of times before, only this time, the lines get blurred and she can't bring herself to pull the trigger. Baz has issues, which are fully under control, that is until he realises Stevie was sent to kill him. Can they get past what has happened and what both of them represent to give their relationship a chance, or are they doomed to fail?

I felt so many emotions with this book it was hard to keep track. I was disgusted, I was sad, I was annoyed. But then I was happy and charmed, and angry and happy again. Seriously, if there was an emotion, I felt it. M Never has an amazing talent for writing characters that you just can't help but have a connection and reaction to.

I really liked the plot of this book. A character that has been beaten down so often that she builds herself up and is a strong, capable woman. I loved that. I think that is one of the reasons I loved Stevie so much, she didn't take any crap, she could hold her own. I think falling in love actually made her stronger. She had something to fight for and she fought for all she was worth. Baz was also a great character, I loved him to begin with, then he got a little dodgy (hey, he's a guy with complex issues, don't judge) but once he broke down and got himself sorted I just completely fell in love with him. He stepped out of his comfort zone and went against everything he wanted to protect the people he loves. He was confident but vulnerable, sweet and badass. I only have one question – the beard...why?!?! And you all know how I love to have characters to hate and this book sated that need, I hated certain characters so, so, so much! This book just really grabbed me and took me on a heck of a ride.

With that being said I don't feel the prologue was necessary, I think the book could have started at chapter one. Stevie alluded to the events enough in her thoughts and reactions that we knew something had happened. The revelation of telling Baz would have had a greater impact if the listener didn't already know, in detail, what had happened. Plus, we really didn't need it twice. Part of this will be because I struggle with the subject and wasn't expecting it. Being hit with it in the first few minutes kinda put a dampener on it for me, in fact, I turned it off and had to think about whether I wanted to continue. I did continue and enjoyed the story, as stated above. The relationship between Baz and Stevie is actually quite beautiful. The twist at the end was very clever and I didn't see it coming, I was in shock and may have shouted at my phone as I listened to it lol. Although the revelation that happened I did know, from the get go, again, that would have been more of a shock and major revelation had we not had the prologue. But that is just one person's opinion.

Jacob Morgan narrated the epilogue and I must be honest, he was the pull for me to get this book in the first place, so I was a little disappointed to find out he only narrated the epilogue...which he did wonderfully, as always, however, as I was listening I thought it wasn't really necessary. Muffy could have done the entire book, that is how amazing her performance was. Muffy Newtown was absolutely fantastic! I adored her performance, there wasn't one part or one character that she didn't excel at. Her male characters are amazing, I even had to check that it was still her at times...just in case they sneaked in another narrator while I wasn't paying attention. I feel like she has totally ruined my JM narrator crush and now I'm all MN narrator crushing.

Warning: This is a dark romance. It contains violence, dubious consent, suicidal thoughts and the sexual assault of a minor (in the prologue, if you struggle with this trigger, you might want to skip ahead to chapter one). Listen at your own discretion.

Lexi and a heavily pregnant Sugar go on a surveillance mission to check out a possible new recruit for Titan – Bishop O'Kane. A safe and easy job, or so they thought. When the gym they're checking out is taken over by terrorists, they must work together with Bishop to get out in one piece.

Live Wire is a quick, easy read. Under 3 hours. It's really a cute story. It gives more depth to Jared Westin and explains why he is the way he is. Of course, this is Jared and Sugar, so expect some sexy time...although, Parker and Lexi give them a run for their money in the sexy time department. It was fun spending a little more time with two of the fan-favourite couples, who don't disappoint in this book. The introduction to Bishop was fun and set's up the listener for Bishop's Queen (I already love him!)

I love Cristin Harber's writing style, she always hits home with a great story that is well written and will have you laughing and sat on the edge of your seat wondering what's going to happen. Not many authors can grab a reader's attention in a novella enough to get the reader invested in the characters and the story, this isn't a problem that Cristin has. From the opening chapter to the final one, she has me riveted.

Two of my favourite scenes are Bishop's first meeting with Sugar, it was funny and quite endearing. I definitely wanted more of Bishop after that introduction. Also, Parker's geek make-over, his interactions with Beth were hilarious. And let's take a moment to think about Jared and a baby...sigh, that big bad alpha is a big softie!

Logan O'Toole and Devi Dare are porn stars that worked together once, and now they can't stop thinking about each other. When they meet again at a party and sparks fly between them, Logan comes up with a plan. He'll create a porn reality show and Devi will be his co-star, but what happens when business mixes with pleasure? When their feelings become real and they must decide if porn is really what they want or if their love is worth risking it all.

Laurelin Paige and Sierra Simone write awesome books, but together, they're off the charts! I love this writing duo and look forward to more from them. The writing is very smooth and it isn't disjointed like some co-authored books tend to be. They're fun and quirky and that shows through in the writing.

I thought this was a cute story; cute and hot. I mean, it's a story about porn stars, so if you were thinking you wouldn't get any sex, you'd be wrong. Lots and lots of hot sex..and it is hot! But it always has a purpose in the story, moving the story along and showing the connection between these two characters. Although I did enjoy this book, it wasn't my favourite from these authors, partly, I think because I couldn't relate to their situation, or ever imagine myself in that situation.

I thought Devi was a fun character, her parents are hilarious, especially her mum. I loved that they supported her decisions regardless of what they were. Did I mention that Logan is swoon-worthy? No? Well, he is. You will love him!

I actually got really invested in the story there were a couple of parts that had me reacting while listening to them. At one point, I was literally like ‘Oh, Logan, you man! You're not reading the signs' Lol. Then I had a moment of just shaking my head and repeatedly saying ‘no, no, no. Please no!' Thankfully Laurelin and Sierra were nice enough not to destroy me because if that uncomfortable moment had turned into something else, I don't think my delicate heart could have handled it. If you've read the book or listened to it, I think you'll know the part I mean, I'm remaining vague for those that have yet to read it.

I've seen a few reviews that commented that Logan being a porn star concerned about consent isn't realistic, I really loved that about his character, it is a hot topic in the world of porn right now and I think the authors were very sensitive to that fact when they included it. Let's face it, wouldn't the world be a better place if more people were like Logan O'Toole?

I loved this book. It was perfect. This is the first book I've read from Louise Bay – now don't all start shouting at me, I know I'm late to the party, I do have other books, I just haven't had the time to dive into them yet. After reading Hollywood Scandal, I am moving them up the TBR list, because, damn, I loved the writing style, the way I reacted to the characters and the story, I need more of this goodness in my life.

Matt Easton is a movie star on location, he's a reformed playboy that just wants to do his job and become the best. That is until he meets Lana Kelly, she comes marching into his life when he least expects it, now he doesn't want to let her go. Problem is, Lana Kelly is a private person, she loves living in a small town and has no desire to be on the cover of magazines, and she definitely doesn't want to be tabloid fodder. Can their summer fling become something more? Can they overcome the differences in their lives and make the relationship work?

Plot
When I read the synopsis for this book I was giddy, it sounded amazing. The girl next door and the sexy movie star! Sign me up. I thought it would be a fun book to listen to, and I was right. I loved everything about this book. I loved how Lana didn't know who Matt was and fell for him anyway. I loved that Matt liked that she didn't fall at his feet, she was a challenge for him. It's a sweet romance that captured my heart and attention early on and once I started it, I didn't want to put it down.

Characters
I fell completely in love with Matt Easton, he was such a sweet, swoon-worthy character. I was completely taken with him, pretty much from the get go. He was funny and charming. Respectful and supportive. Sure, he might have made some mistakes; I had a facepalm moment and even made a Facebook update of my listening percentage that said ‘Oh, Matt, what have you done?' His heart was in the right place. I also may not be able to see past his awesomeness lol.

I really liked Lana, I did get a little mad at her at times, how could she not see how perfect Matt was? I mean, come on girl! I'll take your place lol. She came around to my way of thinking, in the end, so all was forgiven. I liked her backstory, and her reasoning made sense, even though I wanted to tell her to get over it, I understood her reluctance. Her interactions with the locals were cute and gave insight into her character.

I had an instant dislike of Brian and Sinclair, I wanted to punch them both in the balls. Who the heck did they think they were? I'd have fired them. But, they did redeem themselves in the end so I kind of forgave them.

The older residents of Worthington were great, I loved their little additions to the story and they really brought the small-town vibe to life.

I loved Ruby, she totally needs her own book and HEA. She reminds me so much of a friend, who happened to be reading the book at the same time and I kept sending messages that consisted of ‘This is so you!' I liked that she was the one person that knew Lana and her history, that she could offer support and advice that others couldn't, even though she played a small part in the scheme of things, the effect was huge.

Relationship
I loved how this relationship played out. It was very sweet. I loved the interactions between the characters and the banter they had. Of course, it wasn't all smooth sailing and I may have suggested Matt marry me instead of Lana at times (I know, I know. Stop judging me!) but the conflict made the ending so much sweeter. The sex scenes were steamy and well placed, none of the sex was for the sake of it, it played a part in the story and made sense...and was written incredibly well.

A couple of scenes really stood out for me with this couple. The first kiss...wowser, what a kiss that was. I don't know how they managed to pull away, it was hot. I think that might have been when I fell in love with Matt. The second was the first sex scene, it is a perfect example of this couple and how they react to each other, the trust and respect they have. I thought it was beautifully done. Another scene, I know I said a couple but I just remembered this one, I loved it, and it's not really a spoiler, but Matt gives an acceptance speech and it was so beautiful, I may have teared up...just a little.

Rating: 4.5 Stars

When I was asked if I wanted to read this book, I said yes after reading the synopsis because it sounded good, I'm very pleased to say that the book lived up to the hype, it's a lovely story. The chapters are short and sweet, which personally I like, when I needed to stop, I could finish a chapter, go feed the family and then dive right back in again.  I understand this is Sharon Kay's first book in the contemporary romance genre and I hope it isn't her last. I loved it.

Cruz Zaffino has just been released from wrongful imprisonment after 10 years and wants to start fresh, he moves to a small country town where he meets Rosie Marlow, a happy go lucky bartender with a secret. Will they survive Rosie's secret, will Cruz's past come back to haunt him? Join this flawed and sweet couple as they get to know one another and watch their relationship bloom.

Plot.
I simply loved how Sharon Kay wrote this book. It's not what I expected, a guy that's been wrongfully imprisoned for 10 years, sheesh, I expected him to have a lot of anger and be a jerk, to begin with, but he just wasn't, it was a nice surprise. Don't worry if straight up romance isn't your thing, it's not all hearts and flowers, we get to experience Cruz being a badass more than once and the last few chapters are suspenseful, to say the least.

Characters.
Cruz was a fantastic character, I loved the tough guy he was and that he could be so sweet with Rosie. I liked when the tough guy came out, whether it was protecting Rosie or helping someone he didn't know, his heart was in the right place. The scene with Ariel and Iris was probably the cutest scene in the book, it melted my heart and really gave another side to his character.

I liked Rosie, she was a fun, warm character. At times she annoyed me, she went on a little too much about her secret, which I guessed pretty early on, but overall, she was a cool chick that I'd hang out with. I loved that she never doubted Cruz, she was always on his side.

I really liked Shane, at the end of the book it says the next one centres around him, and I'm super happy about that. He has a story to tell. I adored Denver, nothing better happen to him...that's all I'm saying! What I liked about Shane was that even though he was concerned and felt he needed to do ‘the big brother' thing, he didn't overdo it and took Cruz's back when other people made insinuations and I loved that, it was different and really made his character more appealing.

Relationship.
I loved the way the relationship progressed from the instant attraction to getting to know each other, and falling in love. It was lovely to follow their story and see it all play out. The way they supported each other and believed in one another. I loved that there wasn't a major conflict between them, they fell in love and made it work, even when each of them tried to push the other away, they stood firm. It was beautiful. Also, the sex scenes were steamy as heck and very well placed.

I adore Lauren Blakely's books, she has the perfect combination of romance and comedy, this book was no different. I think it might be my favourite in this series. Lauren's writing transitions so smoothly from the sweetness to anger, to sexiness and comedy.

Max Summers owns a successful garage, he's always at the top of his game. When he meets a potential new customer at a car show he couldn't be happier, that is, until he finds out that the new car job comes with a catch. He must work side by side with Henley Rose, another mechanic from his rival garage, and the woman he fired. She also happens to be the woman he can't stop thinking about, can he remain professional, or will the attraction become too much for both of them?

I haven't listened to many enemies to lovers stories, but after listening to this book, I think I need to read more. I loved the dynamics between the characters. Rivals working together and falling in love is the perfect rom-com for a Sunday afternoon. I was so engrossed in the story that I completely missed dinner-time until my husband approached begging for food lol. The ending, sigh, it was so good, I loved how it played out. It really was the perfect way for the book to end. Everything is told from Max's POV, just like the other books in the series, with the exception of Henley's to do list chapters, which were funny as heck, I loved them.

Max, Max, Max! I love him so much, he's funny and sexy, and sweet. Of course, I fell in love with him. He's awesome. He also drove me half insane! But in a good way.
Henley Rose is my kind of girl, she's a strong, independent woman. She works in a predominately male workforce but is still extremely girly. I loved that about her. She was different. I was kept guessing throughout the book, about what secret Henley had. I didn't know if it was going to be something major, something hurtful to Max or if it was going to be all hearts and flowers.
It was nice to see cameos from characters from the other books in the series. Although, say that, you don't need to have met the characters before to enjoy the book or for it to make sense, each book is a true standalone. And Roger...oh my word, Roger, I loved him!

The chemistry between Max and Henley is off the charts, from the get go. I loved their interactions – from the excellent banter to the sweet moments and back to the insults. It all fit the characters perfectly. It was sweet watching them going from not being able to stand to be in the same room together to the attraction and falling in love. The sex scenes are hot as hell and fit with the story.

I'd heard so many good things about this book that I knew I wanted to read it. This book is wonderful, I don't know what I was expecting but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a book filled with emotion, conflict, love and steamy sex. It completely blew me away.

Father Tyler Bell has committed his life to the church, to turning around his community's opinion of the church and building strong relationships with his parishioners. He loves his work, even though his own family doesn't approve of his vocation...with good reason. His commitment is to God and God alone, that is until Poppy Danforth steps into his confessional booth. Can he resist the temptation of her?

Poppy Danforth is lost, not in location but in life. She doesn't know what she's doing and wanders into Tyler Bell's church looking for something, she's not really sure what. One conversation with Father Bell is enough to put her on a path of spiritual guidance. If only she could stop fantasizing about him.

I loved the plot of this story. The majority of the book is told from Father Bell's POV. A priest falling in love, it was simply beautiful. You really get to see his inner conflict, the religious aspects of the book were handled intelligently and made an impact in the scenes they were part of. The emotional aspects of the book are what really makes this a standout book.

Let's talk about the characters. Sooooooo, I'm in love with Tyler Bell, don't judge me! He is a wonderful man struggling to do the right thing. The emotional rollercoaster that Sierra put him on was tough. Poor guy! I loved his struggle; his head and heart were in such conflict, seeing that play out and how he came to the conclusions he did was just beautiful to experience. I really liked his family too, they're all dealing with their grief in the best way for them, the interactions with Tyler were sweet, comical and at times heartbreaking.

I really liked Poppy, I felt bad for her over some of the things she was dealing with, she was clearly very conflicted over her feelings and her place in the world. There is one scene when Father Bell apologises for taking advantage of her and well, she lets him have it. Her speech was fantastic and the perfect example of the type of person Poppy is, she is strong and independent and capable of making her own decisions. I wanted to hate Sterling, I truly did, and I did for a time. But towards the end of the book, like Tyler, I started having empathy and feeling bad for the guy. He was still a jerk though.

Let's talk a little about the relationship. Wow! The chemistry between this couple was off the charts from their first meeting, and it just got better, and hotter. They're both struggling with their own demons and gradually they help one another realise what they need, what is missing from their lives. Experiencing the development of their feelings for each other and the lengths they go to in order to protect each other was beautiful and captivating. I'll admit at one point I threw my hands in the air and shouted “No! This is NOT how it's supposed to happen!!” (In all honesty, I may have used a curse word or two).

The book has some of the BEST sex scenes I've ever read, and there are plenty of them! This isn't a complaint, they were extremely well written, sexy and had a place in the story. I found myself blushing more than once.

Warning: Do NOT read to this in public, it is steamy hot. The book is about a priest, who falls in love – who knew with that title, right? Lol. Anyway, if you're upset by the idea that a priest has the urges of a man, or sexual acts being performed in a religious setting, please don't go any further. This is not the book for you.

Full audiobook review will be on the blog tomorrow.

Jade West never ceases to amaze with her writing and storyline ideas. I am completely in love with this book. I honestly believe this is Jade's best book to date.

Abigail has run away from everything and everyone she knew, to start a new life, but she's not living, not really, she's just going through the motions. That is until Phoenix answers her dangerous online ad. One wild night of darkness and no boundaries. Can she stop the past from defining her? Can she start to live again?

Phoenix is a single dad with scars, both figurately and literally; pain and guilt eat away at him, he's trying to make each day count, but he's floundering. That is until he sees a dangerous proposition online from Abigail. One night of darkness, one night of no boundaries. Is she serious? Could this be what he needs to start living again?

They both should have known that once was never going to be enough. They both have secrets. They both have demons. Can they overcome them together to become more than just bait and monster?

Let's just take a second to talk about this plot. What the heck? When I first heard about it I thought, nope, this is going to be way too dark for me. She wants a stranger to hunt her, take her, she wants to fight him and him not to care. Whoa! No, not for me. And I was wrong, so very wrong. Bait is amazing. There is so much more to the story than just that, I won't go into too much detail, but what both Abigail and Phoenix have been through in the past plays such a huge role in the story.

Now let's talk about the characters. Firstly, Cam is adorable, I just wanted to squeeze him so hard. Only Jade could throw that much cuteness at me between sex scenes lol.
Phoenix, sigh. Oh, that sexy, sweet, broken man! I loved him, he has taken over as the front runner of all Jade's men (oooh, that sounds a little dirty lol), I didn't think anyone could beat Carl but here we are. He has so many demons eating away at him. His relationship with Cam is so sweet to witness. The relationship with his siblings is tense and at times I found myself cursing them both. Although it's clear that Serena is stuck between her two brothers, so I forgave her for meddling. Jake, however, it took a little more convincing, but in the end, I felt bad for him. The last chapter is just, wow, it basically embodies the person that Phoenix is, even after everything, he is the bigger man and helps those he loves. His relationship with Abigail is just swoon-worthy, from their first contact to the epilogue, he's watching out for her, checking on her, making sure she knows what she wants. Becoming her monster in the dark could be the worse or best decision he ever makes.

I liked Abigail from the get go, she is a sweet, broken girl! She has so much pain that she tries to hide by pulling away from everyone she knows, starting fresh but being so guarded with everyone. Seeing her come out of her shell and make friends was so sweet. She is also a dirty, dirty girl, so of course, I loved her for that. Even though I thought she was crazy! I thought her co-workers were a hoot, if only we all had people like that in our lives. Her relationship with Phoenix was wonderful, she was so vulnerable but strong at the same time. Putting her life in the hands of a monster could be the best or worse decision she ever makes.

Abigail and Phoenix's relationship was a joy to watch unfold. Their interactions were sweet and steamy. The way they both worked to give themselves and each other what they needed. Two broken souls that join to become one. The sex, Holy cow! Jade is the queen of filth, we know this already, but this book will cement it for anyone that isn't in the know. The sex is dirty, it is rough, it is scorchingly hot. Oh, and there is plenty of it! (Praise the higher powers). I wouldn't recommend reading it in public. Lol.

Warning: This is a dark romance; all acts between Abigail and Phoenix are consensual. However, if the teasers you've seen in this post...the official ones and/or the LC ones are not to your taste, this book is not for you.

Rating: 3.5 Stars

I struggled with the rating for this book, and even more so with the review. I used to rate everything 5 stars and say how great it was, because I never wanted to hurt someone's feelings, but that doesn't help the author grow, I still don't want to hurt feelings, especially Anna's because she is a lovely person that I consider a friend, however, I need to be honest. And let me just say here, before I get started that I know my opinion isn't going to be popular, I've seen reviews from people that fell in love with this book. When you read on please remember this is just one person's opinion. You may take something different from this book than I did.

“No two persons ever read the same book.” (Edmund Wilson)

I thoroughly enjoyed Anna Bishop Barker's first book, Going Under and really wanted to fall in love with Journey to Faithful but it just didn't happen for me, I'm afraid. I felt that there were too many POVs, it would have read better if it was just from Jake and Laura's - it was their story to tell, after all. It was a good storyline but I felt like it was missing the suspense that it could have had. Part of that, I think, was the Brotherhood POV, it wasn't necessary and took away some of the suspense of the story.

It truly was a book of two halves, the first half was the escape, that we know about but don't actually see, and the journey cross-country to Faithful, it was kind of slow and I found myself getting distracted easily. The second half was more about the romance and Jake and Laura's relationship, which was much better for holding my attention, I really liked them as a couple, even though, that L bomb was a little premature for my tastes. Seeing the relationship grow and finding out more about them was sweet. Again, personally, I would have liked to have experienced them getting to know each other a little more, rather than Sam telling each of them about the other in what I'm calling ‘flashbacks', I just don't think it was necessary and messed with the flow of the story.

I enjoyed the supporting character interactions, Mercy is a hoot and I adored Kyle, but the less said about him the better because I am very, very upset. I'm not joking, Anna, how could you?!?!

The writing is great, Anna knows how to tell a beautiful love story, like I said, I just wish there was more of it. She definitely knows how to hit me in the feels department...Kyle (insert angry emoticon here) and I'm not ashamed to say she had me in tears...that takes talent, which she definitely has in abundance.

There are a few little inconsistencies in the book, that although small, took me out of the story. I really wish they had been caught, as I think it makes it harder to fully immerse yourself in a story when you stop and say to yourself, ‘what? But I thought....'

With all this being said, Journey to Faithful is only Anna's second book and I feel she is still honing her craft, I will read the next book in the series.

*Warning: I know I'm normally pretty strict about spoilers, however, I know some people need a warning to prepare themselves. This book insinuates child rape.

Layla Hagen has quickly become one of my automatic one-click authors. She writes with such emotion and passion, I can't help but get lost in the story. The Bennett Family series has captured my heart; the characters are so well written that even the smallest of parts can endear themselves to you. That is what happened with Blake Bennett, I kept seeing little snippets of him in the other books and I wanted more. I wanted to see his grovelling techniques in action, I wanted to know what type of caveman he would be, and yeah, ok, I wanted to know about his bedroom antics too. Your Fierce Love did not disappoint. Blake and Clara's story is sweet and sexy and everything I could have hoped for and more. I don't think I've highlighted a book as much I as I highlighted all the sweet Blake moments, I was swooning left, right and centre. Clara was the perfect match for Blake, she was strong and independent and kept him on his toes while trying not to fall head over heels for him. I loved that she was a part of the family and protected them, the situation with her boss had me biting my nails hoping certain things didn't play out.... they didn't, thank heavens. I loved the twist towards the end and thought it was the perfect HEA for them.

This series just keeps getting better. Layla Hagen has quickly become a one-click author for me. This book is no exception. Nate is dreamy and I've loved Alice in the other books so it was awesome to see her finally get her own HEA.

Nate and Alice have been friends for years, Alice believes she's suffering from the cursed unrequited love, turns out Nate is suffering from it too. When a job falls through and Nate finds himself permanently back in San Francisco, he decides now is the perfect time to see if him and Alice can make a go of things. But with 6 protective brothers can things run smoothly?

I adored this book, the relationship between Alice and Nate was fun and steamy. I loved that the relationship was built on friendship and seeing there history come to light throughout the story. It was beautiful.

I am so in love with this series. I don't know how I didn't know about it sooner. This book made me ugly cry, for real, at times I was so emotional that I couldn't control it. Layla Hagen is a queen of writing those emotional moments that hit you in the gut and that's definitely the case in this book. Victoria is raising her siblings and meets Christopher Bennett (enter swooning here) and the chemistry between them is off the rails, in no time at all Christopher is falling in love....with them all. I adored the moments were Christopher was interacting with Sienna, Chloe and Lucas. It was so sweet. If you like sweet, sexy and emotional books, you'll want to grab this one.

Another fantastic addition to this addictive series.
Max and Emilia were childhood friends that re-connect as adults and they are explosive together. I really liked how the additional storyline of Emilia's grandmother was written, Alzheimer's is shown in a sensitive, yet honest light and shows the effects it has on both the person and the family. Layla Hagen never fails to impress me with her compassionate style of writing.

Porter is a standalone in the Men of Lovibond series and I read it as such, although I can't wait to dive into the previous two books I honestly think it read as a standalone...and I'm very choosy about what I consider a standalone.

I loved Porter and Frankee's story, it had lots of different elements that weaved together to form their relationship and make it something special. I really liked that and felt the ‘issues' raised in the book were handled sensitively and intelligently...obviously not wanting to give anything away here.

Charlotte was an interesting twist and I really liked how that came to be and that I really disliked her, from the get go. Seeing that play out was fun and frustrating in equal measure.

Did I mention this book is hot? As in, steaming. The sex scenes will have you hot under the collar in no time.

Cristin Harber never ceases to amaze me with her books, this one is no different. Each book stands on its own merit and takes the reader on one hell of a wild ride. Ryder is dreamy, and so sweet, talk about being a badass gentleman. I loved how Victoria was a strong woman and although she had something horrific happen to her, she came back fighting and became stronger than ever. Seeing their relationship blossom and grow and be different to the start of most relationships was refreshing and sweet.
Lots of action in this book, just how I like it. It was fun seeing the interaction between the Delta boys and the Titan men, both at work and in play.

I cursed Cristin a few times....she should expect this by now lol. (I love her really!) I'll go into more detail on the blog review on Aug 2nd.

I think this is my favourite book in the series so far. Layla Hagen writes books that draw you into the story and each book feels like your favourite, had something that resonates and keeps you coming back for more. This book hit me in the feels more than the first two, I had a few tears at a couple of parts. Eric Callaghan is a single father who is only going to be in San Francisco for a short time, he isn't looking for love but there is something about Pippa Bennett that he just can't resist. Pippa has been hurt, she is now focused on helping her 8 siblings find love, that is until she meets Eric. Sparks fly and soon they're in head over heels, but what will happen when Eric has to leave?

I am loving this series. I didn't think anyone could compete with Sebastian Bennett but Logan is definitely giving him a run for his money. Logan knows his family; mainly his older brother and younger sister are trying to set him up on a date with Ava's best friend, Nadine but he is sure he can resist, maybe they'll just have a bit of fun? Sparks fly early on and soon the couple cannot keep their hands to themselves. I loved Nadine, she was feisty, didn't take any crap and was focused on building her career. Logan Bennett stole my heart, I am not joking. He was sweet and sexy, and I loved that even though he knew Nadine could do things herself, he supported that and was there to help, if and when she needed it. Of course, he's a guy, so he might have got a little carried away at times but it just made me love him more!

This is a sweet, sweet story. Ava goes to work as a consult for 4 months at a multi-million dollar jewellery company, and meets CEO Sebastian Bennett. Neither of them are looking for a relationship, however sparks fly from almost the get go and while they try to fight it, the attraction is just too strong. Get ready for some funny banter, plenty of sexy times and even some emotional moments. I adored the Bennett family, I can't wait to read/ listen to more of their antics.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but I'd heard great things and let me just say it was not an exaggeration, the book is fantastic, it has twists and turns, definitely keeps you guessing. The sex scenes are smoking hot.

I love this book. Isabella Starling is the queen of raw, gritty dark romance and I love her for it. Carter is the perfect anti-hero, the relationship growth between him and Evangeline is sweet to watch unfold. Evangeline's struggle with her emotions - how she was feeling as opposed to how she felt she should feel, felt very real. It had a few twists that made the reader think and wonder what was happening and where she was taking the book. I cannot wait for the next instalment in this series.

*This is the first book in the Empire Sins series but reads as a complete book.

Warning: This is a dark romance, as such, it has some moments that some people may find difficult.
